I'm sorry you don't get to decorate this year. I am very grateful to have an SL friend who treats me like a sibling that allows me to live on their land. A side benefit of that is that I get to do a majority of the gardening and changing the region over from season to season.

I don't buy new stuff every year maybe one or two pieces. I think some of the stuff I have is as old as five or six years old. I did buy the big new Jack O'Lantern in front of my door and there are some spiders from Jian. The only reason I come to second life is to dress up my pixel Barbie & decorate my dream home. I've gone from being inworld every single day of the week for 12 14 16 hours a day I to now I may be logging on twice a week for an hour. So I guess the time I do is log on is spent decorating & shopping for clothes. And in the end anyways something someone once said was that if you're enjoying what you do then your wasted time isn't time wasted?

If you put on your Catwa master HUD there will be an option on one of the tabs to alpha part of the skull. (Imon my phone so I can't look to be more specific).

I worry way too much about the wear and tear SL can do to the machine to just leave Pixie idle for any amount of time beyond that of a quick potty break. Every computer I have used SL on always gets-got super hot when logged in even on minimum settings (which I go a step further than most & shut off the sky & sometimes water). I even have a scar from a laptop burning me 2 years ago while running SL. No way could I just leave it running for 8 hours. I will admit tho, when I had first rezzed 10 years ago, that I just assumed our Avis stood around when we logged out. 🤣. I guess I thought Pixie waited for me to come back. 😭 I saw a response above me, about logging out after putting their Avi to bed. That's sweet. 🤗😍

That is something I came to learn thru my time in SL- the rest of the world doesn't go hog wild over Halloween, if celebrated at all. Of course not all Americans celebrate it, either, but many do. Thanks for responding 😃

Thanks all for the responses. I don't have my own computer, I borrow my son's while he isn't on it. Little stinker told me it was the newest version. I'm forbidden to download anything on my own so I will just pester him later to fix it. 😃

I did this a few years back in 2014- considering it for this year, too.

Visually mesh imo is so much prettier from the standpoint that I come to SL to play pixel Barbie. Mesh to me means no more woodblock feet (articulated toes!), more control over my shape (& with the brand Belleza you get two types of bewbs- regular & perky pushup) & the sharp jaggedness a prim body can have is gone. My hands can have long nails that don't have to be reset to stick back on my hands (and Bento aos mean my fingers can articulate & grasp things in a realistic way.). My mesh head allows me to really individualize my face in a way standard just can't. Add on mesh ears have the definition that can't be achieved with regular heads. If you choose to have a bento head there are so many things you can do now with your emotions and expressions and add-ons such as candy or cigarettes or pipes. My wigs no longer looks like stuck on hollowed out watermelons, and moves with me without cutting thru me like flexi hair. All the details that's given now to shoes and even simple things like zippers and buttons on the fly of a pair of jeans, or the beautiful slowly twist of a skirt that sculpties can't give. I by no means want to insult anyone with my opinions of mesh versus someone who may prefer a system body. They're just really good selling points to me on why you might want to consider mesh.

For the last five or six years or so I try to keep my inventory under 50000. I don't have anything other than skins left from my system Avatar. there's only one thing I can think of that I would have liked to have had for the bakes on mesh and I can't find it in my inventory and I couldn't find it in the shop, the company is still in business. But this item does not show up on their redelivery system, either. It was a pink T-shirt with a tango applier and it said PINK across the boobs in gold sequins. It was a really nicely textured item. So I have a sad 😞 for that. Other than that one item though I can't really think of anything that bakes on mesh will affect me with unless it's something that we can use to have multiple tattoos and skin features like stretch marks, makeup and blemishes.

My internist wrote a recommendation/referral to have my gallbladder removed after I had an ultrasound on Tuesday. Everything that I've eaten for the last 2 months to 3 months has made me intensely ill. Drinks don't seem to bother me, tho. I'll probably have some cocoa in a little bit. Throw some marshmallows on top. I've wanted a big homemade hamburger with avocado and tomato and onions & cheese on a big toasty bun for days now. I know I won't be able to eat one any time soon. 😭🤢🍔

Hellooooo! I'm over 40 in the otherworld and live in NE Oklahoma (USA). I've been in SL for over 10 years now. My active involvement inworld has really scaled back over the last few years, even tho I no longer work in the otherworld. I have some medical issues (a brain lipoma, neuropathy in my feet, and inner ear disorder that makes me dizzy). They affect both my real world and SL activities. I mostly stay at home, which I've just this year gone to paying for premium, and I've enjoyed it. I've had a traditional, and now houseboat. I love decorating and gardening my homes. I keep a few games out that I enjoy playing alone and with others- mah jong, the SL version of scrabble & solitaire. I'm always hoping for a decent canasta game but haven't found one yet. I also enjoy trying to take decent selfies without the aid of photoshop. So mostly I am a hermit who stays home playing with my pixel barbie. But occasionally I'll venture out to listen to live music, no particular destination in mind, I just go thru the results under search results till I find a show I like. I'm not inworld often now, compared to years past, maybe 2 days a week. But if you fancy a chat, or just want to pop by to veg- feel free to see if I'm online

Original poster, if you come back to read the responses, I took your survey-quiz & it seemed to be lacking any insight into actual SL shopping. Posing one very broad situation "you go into a virtual store to buy an item, what makes you decide to buy it (i want it), do you interact with sales associates (not in the sense of a RL boutique, no), and are you influenced by advertising (not so much influenced as much as informed by group notices)?" I would have thought maybe the quiz would have questions like do you spend real monies to buy virtual monies or do you have a virtual job to obtain funds? What outlets do you look thru for shopping exposure (ie, FB, Flicker, blogs, inworld groups) How much of your monthly spending in SL is devoted to X, Y & Z? In relation to real world funds, how much of your monthly realworld budget do you spend in SL? How much of your SL time do you spend actively shopping in SL? These sort of questions might not be the information the OP was looking for, but they are ones that to me (and I could be absolutely wrong- wouldnt be the first time) that would have provided a lot of information for an academic paper.

Izzie's (Izzie Button) has shops inworld and on the marketplace. One of her newest releases is called imperfections. You might take a look at that demo as well.

Sandboxes open to the public are notorious for this type of behavior. Likely very few people have not had this type of experience. Like others mentioned before rezz a prim and sit on it if you suddenly have to go AFK. No more pushing problem solved. So far is them testing out the scripts well that's on the builder. You have to be proactive at some point. There are, by the way, private groups, at least t here used to be in the past, join for small fee to have access to a private sandbox. Jerks are everywhere. You have to learn to adapt and move on.

I don't know if this is what you mean, but the 3rd party Android app for SL is out of date & it seems unlikely that it's going to be corrected anytime soon. There is definitely a user base that would pay to obtain a working Android or tablet viewer. I believe linden Labs is working on an iOS version.

Well I know that second life was overwhelming 10 years ago when I first rezzed. Now with mesh everything, I can't even imagine how confusing things must be for a new player. Luckily, friends took me by the hand and led me to seraphim & 50L Fridays. That really got me going down the rabbit hole of shopping. :). So I assume your styling service would be something akin to that? Finding out what someone would like their Avatar to look like and then guiding them to appropriate shops, and explaining the process of building their avatar from all the pieces. That would be a great help too many people, I just don't understand how you would be able to advertise that? New players don't necessarily know about these forums. And I don't know that you could be allowed to advertise in groups? It's doubtful that many would find you through the search feature either. All I can think of is standing in noobie telehubs- are there still such things? Good luck in your venture!!

I typically don't play the gachas either. I'll search on marketplace. In the past there was an arcade current round only yard sale & was strictly pull price only. The newest round of the arcade started on the 1st but I have yet to see a yard sale like that this round. I did however find what I wanted already on marketplace. on a sad to me note booger bears have not participated in the arcade for many rounds- I don't know what the story is behind that.
