Absolutely correct. They are robots, and robots are controlled by programmes, either external or external-internal hybrids; i.e. they are scripted (programmed) agents. I know a bunch of agents that are logged in 24/7 just for the traffic count, and I'm certain they are logged in with multiple very light viewers (Radegast), which means they are not bots because no programme controls them. They have to be logged in and placed by hand. They don't use Speedlight but that's an even lighter viewer that can be used to log multiple avatars in 24/7. They stay logged in even when the computer is turned off. Such avatars are not bots either. The word 'bots' doesn't describe what it used to describe, but we don't have a word that means what people usually mean - except 'scripted agent'. There were also about 10 underwater on the other side of the store. Since there is no way for us to tell if they are Registered scripted agents, I call those bots. I was commenting on the post that suggested they wouldn't be found associated with stores. I meant that many store owners would use them as they always did, because that was the very purpose for most bots. Whether or not they are actual bots or legal avatars logged in with thin clients wasn't the point. I've actually made NPC's like this at Kokoro. Dressed them up how I fancied, designed their personality for the AI language model. I have already been called a stupid idiot by one of my npc's and hit with a chair (I was trying to get them to kiss me). Perfect bashful npc 10/10 she's perfect. I really don't know why stores do it anymore. People go to events. If they see something they like from a specific store, they might go check out the rest of that store. That's what I do. Or, I'm only at a store to pick up something from one of the weekend sales. I don't search, using search, to shop so to me, inflating traffic numbers (which really only effects FS search) seems kind of pointless to me. If someone is using the websearch then the stores will show differently than in FS. The store with the bots shows as 3rd under Clothing in FS Places search. Under Clothing in websearch, it's not even on the first page. THAT is why people still use avatars, scripted or not, to inflate traffic. There is also no way to report those places. I think we're talking about the same spot. There was not really too many people actually IN the store shopping. Even in the free section, there were a few avatars sitting on pillows with similar looks. These underwater ones don't even appear... But at least the ones on the floaties do! I really don't think many stores do this anymore. At least, none that I have seen.
