the welcome hub is connected now to the logs. In-progress ocean regions at the moment, but there's the start of a coast and it looks like the log rail will connect to the station in the welcome hub area.

OMG, yes!! This is me, looking northwards from http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/WelcomeHubLindenHomes/94/5/25 on a rail bridge that seems to be meant to extend southwards 3 regions to meet with the rail head on region Moose Tracks; the station itself is named Palmerston and has a short single-track with one of those end-of-track thingies at the top (and it has a rezzzone, too!).

The first of these three regions is named Rubber Ducky. They are not visible nor clickable for me on the map in any way, but it's possible to go on them.

The other two are All Tuna, and then Three Sheets, which connects to Moose Tracks. I'm guessing the rail track will drop dramattically from 56 m high to 22!

P.S.: Was lovely to meet Leora inworld like this!

OMG, OMG, OMG!  These Welcome HUB Regions are fantastic!  I picked up a few gifts in the shopping region & took pictures.

I absolutely LOVE this addition! ❤️❤️❤️

The SL Cinema, apparently playing Waarheid

June20-SecondLifeCinema_001.thumb.jpg.9e8c474f7e7e8c843f382fd69fa2f069.jpg

There's a Sandbox region, which I love, but there was also a bot here, right next to this entrance to the Social Casino, which I found a bit worrisome. It didn't seem to do anything, but at first I thought it was an official Linden greeter bot.

It's not. It's owned by a resident.

The interior of the Social Casino is the same as the other one. I wish LL would at least get rid of the High Stakes games. Those are far too predatory, in my opinion. Playing a few rounds of free Blackjack is fun enough for me, but I don't think anyone should spend real money to play those games.

Just looked at those three new sims north of Moose Tracks. The southern-most one is part land and sea, the other two being full water Homestead sims.  All three each with 5000 prim limits.  Meaning they won't be having any houses in them.

All three sims have water height level at the standard 20m too. I hope that a bridge would be built, with a section tall enough to fit a yacht mast beneath. Or perhaps a train tunnel would be used instead?

I think the new Palmerston Station in the hubs area is just a terminus station off a short branch line from an imagined main railway line, the tracks do not and could not go any further north from the station as the demo Linden Homes would block the path.  Instead, the track which would have to go around the 9 hub sims and continue up to the station in Sakura.

One more thing I noticed, the railway track in Moose Tracks is at 56m altitude, while the Palmerston Station tracks are much lower, at only 24m altitude. Railway bridges aren't normally sloped....!?!

Three Sheets is immediately north of Moose Tracks, and the land there slopes in 2 stages down to water level, roughly 21m.  I'm hoping that on that terrace at around 40m the rail line will split and a leg will continue all the way down the west coast of LogLand down to Leatherback, but at this point there's no telling.

The sea floor in Three Sheets slopes rapidly down to become absolutely flat at 1m, which is how it continues until it rises rapidly in the Linden Homes Welcome Hub.  It would be very easy to put a tunnel there, and I'm betting they do, tho certainly a bridge would be dramatic!

I'm not willing to speculate about what the spur in Sakura will link to.  It looks to me that if they plan to link it eventually to LogLand it would have to first go through the new 2048 area, and then somehow go south.  That's a lot of "maybes"!

^ A giant partially sloped bridge appeared, 36m above the water ! 🤩

^ Looks like the actual railway track route to Sakura will branch off to the east via these switches/points, avoiding the new bridge. Another bridge across the water to the east would be necessary too.

Meanwhile these three regions are now visible on the map: no map texture tiles yet, but clickable, with region name, green dots and number for the people on it, rating, and and grid numbers:

  • 1051;975 - Rubber Ducky
  • 1051;974 - All Tuna
  • 1051;973 - Three Sheets

Great stuff, I love it! Congratulations and thanks to all the envolved Lindens and Moles!

*Bing Bong* "The train at platform one, bound  for Moose Tracks, has been postponed, due to leaves on the line."

(Translation: Trains won't run on the bridge yet because (1) It's not finished, (2) it lacks the necessary invisible guide rail.)

22/6 EDIT: Has since been completed and is operational

I meanwhile updated the map with “all” Mainland railways. Right now it can be argued that there's more LL rail tracks in Bellisseria (or LH lands in general) than elsewhere (Heterocera still has the densest network, though).

Please see in yellow all existing track, and in red conjectural expansions, presuming that the whole network is meant to be interconnected futurely. (And in shades of purple, the areas apparently cleared for further Bellisseria expansion, following the original map by @SarahKB7 Koskinen .)

SLallrails.2.thumb.png.7cc57dee18b277402a0004d6db2b71c7.png

I see no obvious connecting point between the eastern and western portions of the existing network, except for a junction (fork or wye — learn new words, yay!) at Grey Ghost, which is unsual or even unlikely, as pointed out, since this region was recently landscaped and major changes to Bellissieria regions have ocurred only very exceptionally. (See photo below: the new track would have to come from the sea at the bottom of this image, by tunnel or bridge, and connect to either or both ends of this curve.)

GreyGhost_001s.png.7085d8eeedd7429a3714560748698c80.png

The conjectural segment from the junction at Grey Ghost would connect with the rest of the network at another junction (also fork or wye) on Jolly Serpent or Menhaden, just south of Sakura (both are 100% water regions, the geography being similar to area south of the new WelcomeHub).

GullyWash_001s.png.6273a0c49c0ae38aaa11cfd89077e202.png

The way the track forks at Gully Wash (photo above), splitting from the south (left of the image) to east (bottom) and west (top), aligns the new segment with the main line, reinforcing the notion that the segment that ends in the loop on region Bridle Path is but a branch line, although there is room to transform the Gully Wash fork into a wye (triangle junction).

I caught Abnor lowing the land around new train tracks at Three Sheets & adding pillars to support the bridge crossing to the Welcome HUB. The area looks great & makes me think it won't be too much longer before the northern cliff edge of the Log Homes regions will be added.

It's a huge bridge, I really like it. Might be SL's longest bridge too? I wonder if it has an official name yet?

Bridgelength.thumb.png.1e7c19a265b3a9c18f450ff6c3c1c176.png

Bridgecolumns.thumb.png.b68178c2d71b50d731ecdf5826647e6d.png

^ Yes, that's me standing on the square mid-section of that column for a sense of scale.

The clearance between water surface to the bridge deck's underside measures 31m tall. The gaps between the support columns are about 35m apart. And the water depth is the full 20m, easily deep enough for all large ships in SL.

The top deck with the track now has a series of lighting columns too. :)

You can just make out, from these pics, that the new tracks go east at a higher level and west at a lower level, in the new region, Three Sheets. The new railway bridge is spectacular.
