Dakota Schwade
Bay City will once again come together to celebrate the hardy Moles of the Linden Department of Public Works on the 4th of February. This free event will be held in the Bay City Fairgrounds in North Channel. As in past years, the invitation is open to all Second Life® members to join in the fun. This will be the 7th such event, set aside to show appreciation for The Moles and their many contributions to Bay City and the rest of the Second Life™ Grid. Normally held on the same day as Groundhog Day, this year’s event will be observed two days later, taking advantage of the weekend. The event will feature a performance by DJ GoSpeed of KONA Stream at 11:00 a.m. SL Time (SLT), followed by a live performance by Oblee (Obleoinkment Wrigglesworth) beginning at noon SLT. “Moles” are members of The Linden Department of Public Works (LDPW). The LDPW is a program focused on improvements related to the experience of living on, or visiting the Linden Mainland. The LDPW is a team of Resident builders, scriptwriters, and others to create new content on Linden Lab’s behalf and to the benefit of all. These Residents all have Second Life accounts with the last name “Mole.” Moles build the infrastructure of Second Life: the public roads and railways, items in our coastal waterways and protected lands, and even larger scale projects like the Linden Homes regions, premium content and experiences, and much more. http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/LDPW http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/LDPW_Projects Bay City Mole Day -- North Channel

Dakota Schwade
Hot Bay City Nights 2017 Bay City’s mid-century theme — and it’s large network of roads — is celebrated annually during its “Hot Bay City Nights” event. This Second Life® based event features vehicle makers who create virtual automobiles from the Bay City “theme era,” from 1940 to 1965. The event is held in the the Bay City Fairgrounds, in the North Channel region, from the 19-27th of August to present the best in vintage and retro vehicles. Each designer is hand-picked, and presents great road vehicles for use in Second Life. Additional events will provide plenty for all to do, including the crowning of 2017s Miss Bay City on the 27th, and a series of virtual car washes in support of Child’s Play Charity, an organization that provides toys and games for children in hospitals around the world. Bay City is a silver-level sponsor of Child’s Play. Bay City is a mainland community, developed by Linden Lab™ and home to the Bay City Alliance. The Bay City Alliance was founded in 2008 to promote the Bay City regions of Second Life™ and provide a venue for Bay City Residents and other interested parties to socialize and network. It is now the largest Bay city group, and home to most Residents of Bay City. For more information, contact: Marianne McCann. In what way would you "Modernize" it? Bay City itself is a retro-concept: "the American urban experience, between 1940 and 1965, perhaps best typified by Chicago circa 1950 and marked by a distinct deco influence." While not all residents adhere to this theme, as it is more of a suggestion than anything at this point, it still works perfectly with the layout of the city. Personally I think the city looks great nowadays aside from an eyesore here and there (it's mainland after all, even with those ridiculous land prices!), theres actually some really beautiful buildings and projects scattered throughout the streets, most of them consisting of attractive structures and mesh decorations. If any "City" needs reconsideration, modernization, or general overhaul, it's Nautilus City ....
