I understand what you are saying about Linden doing whatever they want and that being banning ageplay, but if it is legal in the United States, then that does not make sense and leads many to believe that  Linden decided to bann it so they can scam thousands of users out of their money and land, which has happened to several whom I know in SL that were using a small avatar and got accused of ageplay when they did nothing wrong. I have found plenty of information that is from 2008 that says it is legal, but none from the present time.
So is it legal in the United States or not?

What is illegal is the transmission of images of what appear to be minors in sexual situations, and that's what Second Life will do in any sexual ageplay situation because of the nature of the beast. Even non-photographic artwork will be illegal in many of the places Second Life ends up transmitting images to.

First of all with only a few exceptions none of us who post here are Lawyers and the few Lawyers who do participate in this forum almost never voice legal opinions here.

Second, I don't know how you can conceive of LL's ban on SEXUAL age play as a way to scam people out of money.  If LL bans someone for this then they lose that person's business.  If that person owned land then they lose the tier they were paying, etc, etc, etc.  So to call it a scam is a very illogical leap of logic.

Third of all, as far as U.S. law goes, U.S. law very rarely states what is LEGAL.  The presumption is that if something is not declared illegal, then it must be legal.  Sometimes however people get carried away with their presumptions and find themselves in trouble.  That said, if it's not banned here, CITIZEN'S GUIDE TO U.S. FEDERAL LAW ON CHILD PORNOGRAPHY, then you can consider the activity legal with this caveat, some individual states have stricter laws than the Federal Laws.

Lastly, there are several reasons for LL's ban on sexual age play.  Public relations would be a big one.  Another would be protecting users in other countries with stricter laws than the U.S. as well as protecting SL from being banned in other countries.

Lastly, I am not a Lawyer so any action anyone takes based on my opinion is their own problem.  :)

Yes, sexual ageplay between two consenting adults is legal in the US. THAT DOESN'T MATTER!!! LL has said they do not want it in SL. End of discussion. You can not do sexual ageplay in SL. Fin, The end, Hasta la vista, Ciao, Aloha, TTFN.

Very long and wonderful post about what is and is not acceptable. Go ahead and read it on page 1.

Love it. Can we get that description framed and start selling copies?

Playing a child is not against the terms of use for SL. Being near a child is not. Roleplaying with a child, such as in family roleplay, as a teacher, or whatnot is not against the terms of servicing. Participating in X rated content is, and I wish more people would see that difference.

I will say I was totally shocked when this thread title popped up in my feed.  Apparently the overly stupid word scrubber was a lot more lenient back then - or didn't exist at all.

The problem with partially scrubbing the something-play word is, you start to think they are referring to playing with a certain body part.
