How to make it SL work for this platform and the Future one.

  Ten years ago, I entered into a virtual reality realm called Second Life. I have watched SL change in many ways over the coarse of time. Some for the better and some for the worse. Now, there is going to be a big change in the Horizon with a New and Better Virtual from Linden Labs. How do we make this leap and change? I am going to bring up a better way to bring insight to the situation. Like in Science, English, and Math we are always taught to find the cause and solution, to always analyze every perspective. In doing so, i am going to use different platforms and compare them to the real world.

     First, i would like to say Second Life is a good virtual reality game, could it be better? Yes, it could. We all want a good life in SL, just like we do RL. In a lot of ways SL is like RL, from forming friendships to even having an economy. With that being said, i know that many are afraid of changes and what could happen in a worse case scenario. Let me use an example, like in RL we worry what would happen to the planet Earth and humanity in the future. We look for solutions to the problems. Some say go to Mars or other planets, others balk and want to keep it the same, and there are those who want to try and make earth better for our children. We learn from our mistakes, what works and what doesn't. How the outcome will be in the long run.

     Graphics and technology wise, SL may get no better on the platform it is on. However, the potential in game itself is able to get better. First, listen to the people and what they have for suggestions. Be a part of the community and get in on the action. If there are those who can help make SL worthy of its potential then give them that chance. Don't make a hasty decision on a future newer platform until all the kinks are worked out. No one wants to go to a platform when they are unsure of it, just like not many want to go to Mars as it isn't as stable as Earth to support life. There are many unsure-ties and a sense of it will fail. SL followers are feeling the same as this towards a new platform.
     What people don't realize is that in a way, SL has already let the people decide what to do in SL and make ways to help make it work for them. From better viewers to creating things. Yes, it was very beneficial when the lindens did help and make things run smoother. But, like a parent you cant make all the decisions for a child. Sometimes we have to learn to feel things through and to figure out how to make it work. Jessica, you did an amazing job with FS and i personally think Ebbe could use your help when it is time to make a newer and better platform. With that being said Ebbe, in order to have output you must have input and vice versa. You cannot run something that does not include the community's help or input as it just wont work. It takes everyone working together to make it better. Show the people you care and want them to be a part of the process of making a better version by making this one even better with the tools that it offers by making wise decisions and choices.
     I sent you a notecard the other day, on ways to help this SL. I have many suggestions for both this viewer and the new one. I for one , am not afraid of change if it is for the better not only for you but for all people. I can't contribute to SL in way of creating, scripting, and building. What i can contribute is a way of insight and intuitive thinking that brings words of wisdom. I will hope you and Jessica would like to hear some of these ideas. Also, it would be nice if you did have a meeting where everyone can hear and know that you do mean to have the best of both platforms and to ease their fears. Put it to them like i did, help make this a better platform and take ideas and suggestions and contribute to the people let them know you care. In return, you will have a better running SL and even the followers you need for the new platform.

There's already a hell of a lot of discussion and insights on this subject from many forum members, on those threads; but if you prefer to stand apart because you don't want to “mingle” with them, be my guest :smileywink:

In my observation, there may be several threads of a certain discussion. Isn't about what one to follow or stand apart. Is more about getting answers quicker and the help that can be there. Forums are exactly what is implied in finding a field and posting. If I posted in technical forums, thus is part of the right field to ask a technical question.

Perhaps rather than providing a substanceless reply to a thread that is so unbelievably out-of-date as to be utterly useless, you might actually contribute an idea?

@luminye Onizuka, seriously . . . why don't you tell us what ideas you have? To say that SL has moved on quite a bit since 2014 would be putting it mildly -- not merely in terms of the technology, but also with reference to its culture and governance.

So, if you're serious about this, tell us what you think 1) the problems are, and 2) what should be done about them.

I think SL should put an end to that Sansar nonsense, and concentrate on mesh bodies...  Oh wait they did just release new mesh bodies.  Hard to keep up with this new technology.

Linden did give up on sansar years ago, i think they sold it.  There is a serious lack of content for the senra mesh bodies on the marketplace.

What girl is going to wear a mesh body with hardly any high heels for it.

I thought the OP was written with an AI, but it would need to be a time-traveler. These days, the posts on similar topics seem "dumber" but are more to the point: "SL is dying, unless it changes the way I want."
