  1. If you look closely you can see that your shape has actually changed. What hasn't changed is the skin. To get your mesh head to look exactly like the picture you not only need to wear the same shape but you absolutely must use the same skin the person used in the picture.
  2. It was suggested before and while it's an interesting idea, it's not something I would personally use. I first and foremost make things because I want something I can't find already made by another creator. There are a couple of add-ons out there for the Winchester that already have great rooms added to the first floor. If I wanted a great room downstairs I'd have just bought one of those add-ons, but I really wanted a garage so I made one. Also, with a new RL job I just don't have the time to devote to creating in SL now. So, I'm sorry, but it's not likely to happen.
  3. It's a rug I got from Lisp but I dropped my own texture on it.
  4. @RaeLeeH So I took your advice and checked out that aquarium. I decided to swap it out for the Artists Do it Better wall hanging. I really love that little writing desk so kept it, but that wall hanging was 3 LI so that gave me a net gain of 2 LI. I used those on the deck. I'm down to 3 LI on the parcel now so won't be adding anymore items. What I might do over time is swap out pieces if I can find something I love but is lower in LI. That's probably not going to happen much as I've already searched for the best items with the lowest LI but ya just never know what I might find sometime in the future. In the end, I"ve come full circle. I began my Bellisseria quest in a Winchester and it seems I'll be living in this one for awhile. I've taken a RL job so my time spent renovating my Linden Home is going to come to a screeching halt.
  5. I was not suggesting that the Maitreya body can be as curvy as some of the curvier bodies. But the suggestion that the system body responds better than mesh was what I was responding to. If you want mesh and whatever type body shape you like it's available with one mesh body or the other. That's all I was suggesting as well as the fact that the Maitreya can get pretty curvy or small if the shape is modified.
  6. If a super flat chest is desired there is an add-on that does that very well. If using a mesh head and mesh body you can set the fat to anything you like as long as you select the same neck size on the body and head HUDs. In my case I set the Mait body neck to 5 as that matches the Lelutka head exactly. The fat slider was way past 24 in my example of the plump adult shape.
  7. Pretty much yes. I might find one or two 1LI items for the lounge. I'm thinking a little table next to the bench with a tall glass of something along with a couple 1LI plants will do it for the upper deck. I'd like to have 5 LI left for rezzing packages but honestly I can always run to a premium sandbox to unbox things if I really want to use all the prims. It's amazing what you can do with 10 LI these days.
  8. Final update! I'm going to be living in this home for a very long time. Kitchen all cluttered out The lounge now has a few items to make it feel cozy. The upper deck has my favorite bench. I've only got 11 land impact left so looking for a couple very low LI items to finish off this space. When I began this remodel I removed my home from the Tour of Homes. I'm going to be adding it back in but until then if anyone would like to visit please feel free to do so. Here's the slurl - http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Washburn/17/90/38
  9. Knowing that the possibilities with a Maitreya body are nearly limitless, I decided to give this a go. Disregard the face as that wasn't the purpose of this experiment. Though with the proper shape and skin I'm rather certain I could get this mesh head to look very youthful. Also, to be fair I decided to use the same clothing for both shapes. If I had used a top that didn't have the shading for boobs the chest would look much flatter. There are a few creators who do make flat chest versions of their mesh tops/dresses. The biggest issue I had with getting the body to look childlike was the size of the feet. Now for that obese adult shape. My standard shape Please note the furniture in the pic for comparison. Personally I think the reason we don't see more variety with the mesh bodies is because people don't push the limits or perhaps people prefer a rather similar shape. To bring this back on topic, I think the best way to optimize mesh bodies is in removing the need to use onion layers. Unfortunately, Bakes on Mesh could have been the answer to that problem but since it will not work with appliers or accommodate materials, I see little incentive for the mesh body makers to remove any of those onion layers. I also think it's a fool's errand to think that this Jeanie can be put back in the bottle by updating the system body.
  10. Quoted from: If you have a USD balance on August 1 and do not accept the Terms of Service, you will have until October 31, 2019 to do so. If you do not, you will not be able to utilize the USD Balance or request a process credit until you have accepted the TOS and Privacy Policy, after which you will once again be able to use the USD balance and process credit. For those who do not accept the Terms of Service, you will still be able to login to Second Life and use your payment method on file (such as a credit card) to pay for items and services, but you will no longer have the ability to request a process credit transaction, sell L$ on the LindeX, or make payments for Second Life services from your balance.
  11. I noticed that many of the really long sleeved tops I wore pre-bento poked through at the wrist or the thumb area once I updated to the bento hands. Even resizing the hands (I don't recommend that approach though) didn't do much as the clothing, since it's rigged, also resized so that didn't help. Unfortunately, the only solution I found was to use the standard, non bento hands, that are still available in the Maitreya folder, when wanting to wear one of those tops that no longer work when wearing bento hands. For me though, there are few tops, maybe none in fact, worth changing to the non-bento hands.
  12. I have a nice collection of animals. They are mostly static though because I began collecting years ago before we had all these new animated ones. It was my tradition to buy myself a rezday gift of an expensive animal that I wouldn't spend the money on during the rest of the year. So on my rez day I quite often take them out and remember what was happening in my slife when I bought the animal. I didn't buy any my past two rez days and now I regret it. But August is my rezmonth and I will be reviving that tradition. The curtains are the Xzari Curtain SheerShade - NewPassion. You can find their MP store listed as Xzari Curtains. These default to full bright and are scripted. I loathe almost everything that's full bright so I set the scripts to not run and then delete them. Otherwise they will revert to full bright when I shift copy them.
  13. You are too sweet! I've got to test, which means I live in it for awhile, and then make the hud and the rezzer. It's not low LI but considering it's like adding a second house almost - 77 Land Impact isn't too awful.
  14. This is the back hall. I just love this bathroom. It is so light and airy. But my favorite space is my new bedroom. I've got 53 prims left for furnishing. I'm going to have to be really creative. But again, I love the architecture of the home and that's what I really want to showcase and not a bunch of clutter.
  15. Progress on the Winchester garage addition. I've not made many changes to the front of the house. This new version of my home is much more about the architecture than the furnishings, so I'm going with a kind of minimalist approach. Here's the entry hall. I'm using the front room as my reading space. I wanted a gallery feel to the room so it's very sparsely furnished. The back room is just for the kitchen with a very generous island with snack bar. I don't plan on a formal dining set this time. I've not set out any kitchen clutter yet. That will come in the next few days. The old back door now opens onto the addition. The home feels so much bigger now. Upstairs I have the lounge area since I've moved the bedroom to the addition. I've barely started with that room. But already I love how open it is and the view out to the sea. One of my favorite room is the garage. I've made it into my laundry area as well. I'll show you the rest in my next post.
  16. Home and garden thread is for both interior and exterior photos of your home and garden. The only thing that thread is not for is posting various sight seeing type pictures.
  17. 1. There's been lots of improvement since the early pre-public beta days. But they still have lots of work to do. I am excited to hear about the avatar 2.0 project. I will most likely go back and check it out again once the new avatar is fully functional. 2. Lots of things it does better than SL. Lighting and sound quality is so far superior it's staggering. Texturing is wonderful. I would dearly love to have PBR texturing in SL. 3. If the friend loves creating I would strongly recommend it. I spent a year there honing my skills in Blender. With free uploads and strong community support from creators, it's a haven for those who want to further their skills. It's been a good 6 or 9 months, maybe even a year now, since I was active in Sansar though. I had been splitting my time between Sansar and SL with Sansar getting the bigger slice of my time for over a year. But with SL friends pulling me back and being somewhat frustrated with the state of the default avatar in Sansar, I went back to SL full time. I've even made a nice little profit, enough to take to RL three different times, from my store. If the friend isn't a creator, I would still recommend it as something cool to check out if the person likes seeing new things and meeting new people. By the way, I'm not a VR headset user. So while having one would make the experience better, it certainly isn't necessary.
  18. You're very welcome! I suppose first and foremost I am a teacher. I've always been a teacher. My mother jokes about how my younger siblings didn't think it was so much fun to be in my classroom when I was six. For some odd reason they thought playing outside preferable to being indoors with their big sis teaching them the abc's. I learned from watching Glamorous Mole build Hyannisport. Did I copy what I saw? Why yes, I did. It's how I learned to make prims do more than stack up like blocks. In my years of learning how to build here in SL, I have taken things apart to see how they were made so I could learn how to make the item myself. Nowadays that's not so easy to do with so much being mesh. Even the lessons I used to learn Blender had me copying what the teacher was making. But I do get what the OP is saying. It might be a bit irksome if someone were to actually copy what you've done with your home completely down to the smallest detail, though I've never actually seen that happen. I've done a lot of exploring in Bellisseria as well and haven't really seen two houses next to each other that looked identical either. Of course with the vast majority of people using the same particular model of home ... *cough-cough* Winchester, it's harder to look unique but it's certainly possible even if your neighbor has the same model and even the same paint color. It can and will look different depending on what you do with your yard and those little details you can add to the exterior of your home. Heck if someone copied my look, I'd just take it as a challenge or a shopping opportunity. I don't keep the same house look for longer than a month anyway.
  19. I think my add-ons are a perfect example of copying at it's best. In order for my additions to look as though they have always been part of the building, I have to copy textures and architectural style, but that doesn't mean I don't add my own ingenuity to the materials. That's the same for anyone decorating their home. We may all use many of the same furnishings but that doesn't mean we don't bring our own uniqueness to the pieces by how we use them. We all learn by copying techniques. As a teacher one of the absolute best teaching methods is modeling for our students. When someone copies your idea or mine they are in the process of learning. I hope people learn by watching me build or by inspecting my builds in order to learn how to achieve their own goals. So unless someone is actually copybotting, I say copy all you like!
  20. Further developments. I decided I wanted a proper bathroom so I divided what I thought would be a mud room/laundry into now a back entrance and bathroom. That leaves me a generous size room with lots of light for my bathroom. Windows are all done now. Windows raise and lower and the shades do as well. I'm itching to get this finished so I can let Debi furnish it.
  21. This is the Winchester house. My addition to it isn't anywhere near complete. Everything I make I make for myself first. So, after I live in it awhile and I'm sure there's nothing left that bugs me, then I will make it available as an add-on.
