  1. I have only seen one creator use the term "skinned" which was in the past couple of weeks and it seemed extremely odd to me. I've been buying rigged jewelry for years and never seen it called that before.
  2. Looks the same as I've always seen it. Perhaps your windlight is different?
  3. I know SL isn't the physical world, but I don't expect to be able to drive a car from North America to Europe. That's why we need boats, ships, and airplanes. So for me, Belli is just fine with its network of roads without running bridges to mainland.
  4. For me, the best car to explore Belli in is one that's being driven by someone else! Because no matter how good the scripts are in a vehicle, if I'm behind the wheel I'm going to end up where I shouldn't be! I'm just that bad at SL driving! And I've been trying for over 20 years. So practice won't make a difference. Wearables are my saving grace.
  5. There are lots and lots of shops that use white as their base color, but not that many who have actually set the entire shop's inside plus vendors to full-bright. The one shop that many have used as an example not only full-brights all surfaces but also adds some glow as far as I can tell. Added to the uncomfortable experience is that the shop is small and circular which also disorients the viewer. As a contrast to that atmosphere is how Nutmeg's shop uses white, which I absolutely love . To me it is anything but too light. It's perfect. The background is just that a background. It does not conflict with any of the furniture when rezzed. Another shop that uses white very effectively is Lelutka. I really enjoy that shop. There is a hair shop that uses white extensively, and while it might be a bit disorienting it's not visually assaulting. I like their shop as well. I think the biggest problem with shops that use a bright white is if they've not also set an EEP that works well with all the white. For instance, if they don't set an EEP and just depend on the default day cycle windlight shoppers may end up in the shop when it's midnight, which leaves everything that's not set to full-bright including the shopper in full shadow. If the shopper has set a personal EEP for themself and that EEP doesn't play nice with bight white then it's on the shopper as it's their choice to use their preferred EEP. And all of this can be negated by finding a personal EEP that works well in those conditions.
  6. I moved everything off an area that had the biggest part of the viewing area with that particular texture. Then I took a very high rez screenshot of the area. I opened the texture in Gimp and made it as seamless as possible. I used that texture along with the two provided in the texture pack to make gradations of the textures to use on the mesh ground that is included with the Little Branch trees. I cannot share that texture as I do not own the rights to it. I will only use it for personal use.
  7. So are you using a particular windlight you have chosen? If so, then might it be that the problem is more the windlight you've chosen because it doesn't work with light surroundings? Since it's highly unlikely any shop is going to change their esthetic based on your windlight, it might be more worthwhile to find a windlight that works in bright surroundings and save it to your favorite graphic settings. I'm constantly switching between my saved graphic settings. Because that I can control. So true! It's another reason I don't demo clothing anywhere but at home for the most part. Only time I actually demo something on site is if it's one of my fav creators and I'm pretty sure I'm going to love it regardless. I just do a quick try on to be sure the fit is good.
  8. When I've come across an issue like the one in your second picture it's been because the windlight was set to default and it was actually midnight but because the environment was so bright I was not aware of the "time of day". I simply set it to midday and my avatar looked normally lit up.
  9. Lately, it has not be uncommon for everything to rez for me except the demos. I find I have been needing a relog to get the demos to show up.
  10. I much prefer hyper white over very dark. But I also keep my glow settings at very low so perhaps they aren't as hyper white for me.
  11. Well, it's a little bit of mine and a lot of Fancy Decor + Kraftwork. Let me explain. I found a really nice pool but it's was too large and too white. Here's the MP link to the pool. So I decided to use the pool insert and then make a base for the pool. Like this: Then I made the pool not so deep and tinted the surround to blend with the brick texture that came with the Med Content Pack. I've done this many times over the years. It's kind of like how we take kitchens from houses we've bought previously to use in our Linden Homes. Only this time I'm pulling a pool out of a build to use in a different way than the creator originally intended. You probably already have a house with a pool in your inventory that you could pull out and try to do this as well.
  12. Okay this is a stab in the dark, because I don't use RLV but I've heard of settings within that gameplay that restricts changing clothes. Is it possible that he might be using RLV?
  13. I think if you try 30 days you won't want to leave! It really is a lovely theme and so different from any of those that came before it.
  14. It's been slow going getting my Mediterranean situated. Christmas has gotten in the way, but I'm making a little bit of progress. I've got so much more to do, but I'm really loving this theme already. I'm happy with the outside but I may still end up tweaking stuff. Here's a peak at the inside with just the major pieces in place. Still needs all the little clutter items that make it look like a home.
  15. My mistake. Guess I need more coffee. I read it as this IS .. lol
  16. You forget the hubbub over the naming of the Chalets! lol
  17. I am very aware of the countries found along the Mediterranean. Which was what I was getting at. There is a huge difference between a geographic location and that of an art style, which was developed paying homage to architectural elements found in a given location or a period of time. This is exactly my point. It sounds like you are saying that to name it after a style that was born in the US but uses Spanish and Italian influences is just out right wrong. This is an architectural style that was birthed nearly 100 years ago. So is your beef with those who named the style back in the 1930s? It certainly can't be LL's fault for using a widely popular and well established architectural style.
  18. I'd be interested to see examples what you deem to be Mediterranean architecture. When I search Mediterranean architecture I get examples of ancient Roman and Greecian buildings or Mediterranean Revival buildings like those found in the US and many other parts of the world. Given what I believe you are implying then any buildings found in the geographical regions surrounding the Mediterranean would be deemed Mediterranean and not really a particular style of architecture. I don't find the new theme being named Mediterranean confusing at all but your limited version of it does confuse me.
  19. Perhaps it is better to think of it as a style of architecture rather than a geographical location. I grew up in California. I never heard this style of architecture called anything but Mediterranean or California Mission. It wasn't until I moved to Texas that heard it referred to as Spanish style.
  20. Over time I have come to realize that the number one factor of whether I like a house or not is its connection to the outdoors. So for many themes, Chalet being one of them, the windows just aren't large enough for me to feel connected to nature. I feel too claustrophobic in a house that has small windows, even if there is an abundance of those small windows. I need large picture windows to feel at home in a structure.
  21. Yeah, very different vibes. I could tell right away it wasn't Coco.
  22. This thread made me want to check out performance and the overall appearance of the world between the FS alpha PBR viewer and the LL PBR viewer. I've run into lots of issues with the FS alpha but honestly, the LL PBR viewer runs much better for me and the textures look much more crisp. But FS is still in alpha to be fair. So I'm happy about the change. I was more than concerned in the beginning based of my past experiences with PBR in Sansar. I just wasn't sure the lab could pull off PBR for SL. I'm pretty impressed really and excited to see how things progress.
  23. Wasn't sure where I should post this because really it fits so nicely into three different threads. But here it goes for now. I haven't made an alt in forever, so with the Lelu giveaway I thought now is the perfect time. My goal in creating this new avie is for her to make it on her own in SL without any money from me except for her start up nest egg of $100L. I was going to make it zero but some gifts require $1L even if you do get the linden back. Another requirement for her is that she uses the Senra body and clothing made for the body except for the head. So here she is wearing one of the Jaime skins for the body, which I matched pretty closely to one of the giveaway skins. She's using a head skin, makeup, and earrings from the giveaway with a pair of glasses I found in the library. You can see more clearly that the skins for the head and body really do blend nicely using the BOM neck blender that was included with the head skin. I ran over to Body Language as soon as possible to get her free AO for new avies. It makes such a difference. It's a nice start to a project that will keep me entertained for awhile searching out freebies for her.
  24. It seemed like a lot to me as well until I got my treehouse now I love it! Somehow being up high and looking over the tops of trees makes a huge difference. But I get the swamp idea you're thinking about; I was born in Louisiana afterall!
  25. That luminous stuff is everywhere. You start derendering all of it and you'll end up with a pretty naked landscape.
