  1. It never ever occurred to me that it was even possible for anyone to not have an internal monologue. Although, in my case it's more like an internal argument that sometimes, actually oftentimes, gets audible.
  2. I don't get that from the ad. Of course, those who like to assume could easily come up with that conclusion but that's on the reader and not the publisher. As a person who has spent a lot of time in many different gaming platforms I know private homes are often not a possibility, so it makes sense that LL would emphasize that in Second Life people do indeed have the opportunity to have a private home and in fact a private home comes as a perk with a premium account. Nowhere in that ad does it say or even suggest that the only way to get a private home is with a premium account.
  3. The ad says go premium .. private homes. I don't see anywhere where it specifically says Linden Homes. I personally own 4 parcels of land. But only two of those are Linden Homes. I use my private land, which happens to also be double prim, to rez a Trompe made home I use as my private home. Going premium doesn't mean your private home has to be a Linden Home. You can buy mainland and rez whatever you like.
  4. Don't want it. Don't need it. Wait for it .. heck no! Possible? Absolutely and currently available. I'm all about customization. That's one of the huge reasons that I love BoM so much. So the idea of having to choose from what would most likely be a much more limited selection with an all-in-one head/body over a separate head and body has absolutely no appeal for me whatsoever.
  5. The alpha glitching occurred when trying to wear tattoos on the tattoo layer and stockings or any clothing with lace on the underwear or clothing layers. This was and is a problem where tattoos worn on onion layers disappear under hair, because nearly all hair in SL is made using textures with alpha channels. If I only wore short hair and clothing that didn't have any kind of alpha channel then I could wear applier tattoos without any problems. But who wants to be so limited? Fortunately, with BoM I can wear multiple tattoos and skin detail tats and never have to worry about my hair or mesh clothing messing up my tattoos or freckles, etc. Unfortunately, I still have the issue sometimes where my hair will clash with mesh clothing because the creator used a texture that contains an alpha channel. Though with having a lot of my alpha clashing frustration eliminated with BoM this problem with hair and mesh clothing is much less annoying.
  6. I don't like BoM - I LOVE it!! Honestly, I never liked appliers. Making them, storing them, and trying to make outfits using appliers was a real PITA. Wearing tattoos using an applier was basically full of fail due to alpha glitching. I love tats but gave up using them for years. It wasn't until we were blessed with BoM that I once again began wearing tattoos. Besides the obvious plus of not having to deal with the unavoidable alpha glitching, there is the very real case for how personalized you can make an avatar by using multiple tattoos to add skin details to your skin. This simply is not possible using appliers as you are so limited to the number of layers and of course you still have the unavoidable alpha clashing. In my opinion, BoM is the absolute best thing LL has done for improving avatar appearance. For those who are insisting that applier skins "fit" better than BoM skins, you have only to get the same exact skin available as an applier and also available as a BoM skin to see that the skin fits exactly the same regardless of how it gets put onto your avatar. An applier skin may have a slightly shiner appearance or have pores as it can also apply materials to the skin, whereas, BoM does not do this. But that doesn't affect "fit" at all. Fit is based on the UV and not materials. If you are using an old system skin that was made for the default avatar and not a mesh body/head then the fit will be off. But it being off will be the same if that skin is applied using an applier or a system skin. Because a texture is a texture regardless of whether that texture is applied using scripts and an applier or using the baking service and BoM. Now I will end my post by also saying that on occasion, rare occasion, I will use an applier to apply a HD lipstick. I could easily give up using HD lipstick though and never miss it.
  7. I surely miss having you as my neighbor in Barcola. I always looked forward to your new builds and spent much time studying how you used objects in your home. I learned a lot from just looking at your builds. Even though I hardly spend much time in SL these days I still have several parcels. I have my shop, my little home in Horizons and two Linden Homes in Belli, a stilt and a chalet. Even with four parcels I own much less land now that I have in the past.
  8. The fact that the hair contains scripts that contact a server bothers me far less than the fact that they sold a copy/mod product, broke it on purpose, and replaced said product with a copy/no mod product. Now that so many hair creators have gone to selling no mod hair, I hardly buy new hair. I quite often have to set alpha strands in hair to mask mode so that it doesn't have alpha clashing issues with my clothing so no mod equals no sale in most cases.
  9. Life has been a b***h lately, so I've spent little to no time at all in my chalet. I was looking for a parcel near the town center for my little bakes shop but when I landed this spacious corner I decided it was a keeper. So, here's the start to my home in the chalets. I've mostly played in the garden so far. I made a sign for the bakery and laid out a few counters for the cakes. I've still so much to do but I'm loving it so far.
  10. If you were 100% satisfied with your system body I doubt you would have made this post. So the question is why are you considering a mesh body at all? Perhaps answering that question will give you a reason for demoing mesh bodies to see if there is something they offer that would make you more satisfied with a mesh body than your current system body. But as everyone has said previously it's simply a personal choice. I know I love my mesh body and wouldn't ever consider not using one.
  11. That's awesome. I've been having such a hard time getting in world these days I've not been aware that I needed to update. Thanks for the heads up.
  12. Here is a picture from the Galveston area where you can see a small pine forest in the lower left part of the photo with many palms nearby. Seeing pine and palms together is quite common along the Southeast coast of Texas.
  13. I'd say thank you for letting me know. Then I'll do a refresh attachments because I know myself that oftentimes things can drop off during teleport but I won't be aware of it because I look normal on my screen. I see this much the same as someone politely telling me I have spinach between my teeth in RL. I wouldn't want to go around flashing my green smile at people so I ALWAYS appreciate a heads up.
  14. The way I get around this using my Maitreya body is to make an applier using the UUID of the local texture. I then use the applier to apply the tattoo to the tattoo add-on layer. Once you do this then changes you make to the texture on your computer will show up on the tattoo layer because you're not using a BoM bake. Once I'm happy with the results I then upload the texture and make a BoM system layer using the texture.
  15. I think you need to use the scripts for sale by Xeolife if you want to use it with their system. They are for sale at the shop. If the ones for sale don't meet your needs then you need to talk to the owner and perhaps he/she will create scripts to meet your needs. Otherwise, if you don't particularly want your products to work with the Xeolife system then as Paul Hexem suggested finding a scripter would be the answer, but honestly, I wouldn't want to try and start up another RP life system here in SL ... that would be a huge uphill battle.
  16. I have made the free one at the shop mod. So if you have one of the old no mod versions run by the shop and pick up a new one. It's now in the back of the shop with all the other gifts.
  17. I have such mixed feelings reading of your impending departure. I'm happy for you. I know how liberating retirement can be. But I also feel this big empty spot you'll be leaving in the Linden team. Many times when something was broken I took comfort knowing Oz would handle it. Somehow I just can't believe you won't be here in our midst perhaps in the form of a brand new resident. In any case, I hope you have one spectacular retirement. You deserve it!
  18. I really am clueless about scripting. I mostly posted that because that reset button is a relatively new addition to the HUD so some don't know it's there.
  19. If it's a script issue and NOT because you have deleted scripts, there is a button on the HUD to reset scripts for the body.
  20. If the HUD is not responding at all, it's possible the HUD is not actually attached but ghosted. Double check can you change polish color? or heel height? If the HUD doesn't respond to anything then detach and reattach the HUD. If after reattaching the HUD, it still doesn't work then you may have accidentally deleted the scripts from the body. In which case, replacing the body with a new one will probably be your only option.
  21. The Linden Lab TOS directly addresses misconduct with minors. It also outlines provisions for dealing with those who do not follow the guidelines. When LL receives an abuse report of such conduct the incident is investigated and dealt with according to the TOS. Again, LL does not operate as Parler did/does where anything goes without restraints. Apples and oranges folks! In the great words of the Bard, "Much ado about nothing."
  22. I think the whole argument that somehow SL is threatened because of what's happening with Parler and Amazon is a bit over reactionary. If Parler would have removed the obvious calls for violence and killing of government officials from their pages this would not have happened. They've been catering to religious extremists and far right wing militia groups since their beginning and are now suffering the consequences.
  23. Good point! And with Section 230 under attack, social media services have to be very careful about what is represented on their platforms.
  24. I've started making prim cubes with a different color on each side. That way I can see the actual color and it's very easy to inspect the cube to get the RGB when I need it. Oftentimes, I will leave the cube in an empty space between walls or under stairs, which is then hidden behind a wall. Makes it super easy to access the RGBs. I could use the saved colors in the house controller but I'm never sure which color is which when looking at the my color choices in the menu.
  25. Perhaps try leaving body fat at 0 and using body thickness instead to get the bulk. Thickness affects the hips but not so much the butt.
