  1. Yes, the players. In some ways it is almost karma at play when some will not take the time to see past a bad or creepy intro and wind up being used by those types who know exactly how to not appear creepy even though they are the creepiest of all.
  2. Multiple studies have shown socializing skills are learned at an early age, like 3-5 years old. They are taught mostly by the example of the parents (preferably both) and are much harder to learn later in life when it will no longer result in being an intuitive skill. But in so many cases this would be where that "context" comes into play and becomes much harder in a virtual world when the 75% of communication through body language, tone, expression etc, is not visible.
  3. That book cover would sell like crazy here in SL!
  4. Pet Peeve: Those not recognizing that just because a personal boundary has been crossed, does not morally entitle one to respond with an extreme prejudice that goes above and beyond the original infraction.
  5. And a good follow up question would be why some enjoy being annoyed since after all, being easily annoyed is a choice.
  6. A Rolls Royce is a slight modification of a Lada. I'd rather have the former as my daily driver rather then the latter, hence I use TPV's especially Firestorm. Same with chips, I'd rather have a poutine rather than plain chips. It is the modifications that turn it from bland and barely edible to a delicacy.
  7. So some time in the past you have been bitten?
  8. Scylla and or Luna should be along soon to save the damsel in distress.
  9. Speedlight is already at the Apple store and Google Play and though the avatars are somewhat rudimentary as yet, they are in development to be more realistic. The Lumiya mobile viewer showed complete avatars when it was current and was distributed through Google Play for years.
  10. I don't get why people are concerned about the Mobile viewers not passing requirements for content as there have already been SL mobile viewers in past that were advertised and available on those platforms. The Lab's Mobile offering when it comes, won't be the first to show the content in SL.
  11. What I dislike about the Official viewer is the regular forced updates and then having to redo some of the settings as they don't seem to carry over from the last install. The lack of an inworld support group proves it is not suitable for new people because if they have an issue, which is almost guaranteed, they have no easy to find resources to fix the problems. Part of the problem for newer people is not even having a clue what question to even ask. That is where a Group like the Firestorm support comes in handy because other people asking questions has made me aware of multiple features for all viewers that I had no clue were available. Recommending the SL viewer to new people is almost a guarantee they will not last long.
  12. The predominant fear is that they will make it a Premium feature. They set a precedent by doing so with Speedlight and it makes sense from a perspective of it being a good way to make money on their investment.
  13. Firestorm has a quick and ready support system. The official one not at all.
  14. There is also a saying that says if one keeps doing what one always did, one will keep getting what one one always got.
  15. No you didn't say it but it was implied when you mentioned earlier about how you keep a tight reign on who enters your personal space when you have the power. It is when people do have that power that their true selves come out. I would have thought you'd talk a potential pest into submission rather then resorting to the eject button.
  16. And I was taught that multiple times growing up and yes, in certain cases it is right but I was taught to suspect all compliments. And from that I learned to distrust those who did even when it was well intentioned. I also learned to never compliment another out of the fear that they might feel as queasy about it as I used to. SL has been a place where I have learned to be complimentary to others without expecting anything in return. As a result I have started to receive more compliments inworld from people who are not expecting anything else either. It is quite nice actually.
  17. And the best and safest way to handle such a situation is to smile, make a light hearted joke and mention your So is waiting for you. It takes the potential tension out of the situation while at the same time letting them know someone else is close by. It works in both RL and SL. Freaking out only causes aggravation and potentially escalates the situation. That leaves you as the enlightened one to defuse a situation with the proper response, not an emotional reaction. Sure focus on the moment but that doesn't have to mean one needs to judge everyone around them. "Oh, there is a low life, creep, loser, misogynist" even before you really know what makes them tick. Men and women are really not very different at their core. But I guess you don't understand that since you think we are
  18. That is the reaction of a child brought up with a lack of love and nurturing to the point they cannot take a compliment without denying its truth in some manner. And yes, it makes them uncomfortable and queasy when receiving a compliment. Been there, lived that. Took some work to overcome but it is an example of an inappropriate emotional response. Everyone should now stop genuinely complimenting another because some of us might be uncomfortable with it? That is what some are trying to say here.
