  1. My thought on it is whether we should be informed that the persons we might be conversing with are in fact an AI bot. If one knows for sure that it is only an AI bot the benefits would be negated. If on the other hand I was informed I may or may not be chatting and interacting with a machine, there could be some advantage as I would be more likely put the effort into it like I was speaking with a real human.
  2. Whether one did so or not would not in my opinion negate these points of the Community Guidelines: Harassment: Harassment of any kind will not be tolerated. Harassment can include text or images that contain racist, threatening, abusive or hateful material. Personal Information: Sharing someone else’s personal information—of any kind—is not allowed. Disclosing another Resident’s real-world identity, contact information, or the text of interpersonal communications (chat, email, IM) is not allowed. Interpersonal Disputes or Personal Negative Commentary: If you have a personal disagreement, do not post about it on the Second Life community pages. Residents who have personal differences have other channels of communication available to them — private messaging in the forums, IM within Second Life, or chatting within Second Life. No Flaming: "Flames" are hostile or disruptive posts, or messages intended to incite an angry response. Spirited discussion and constructive disagreement are welcome, but name-calling and airing of grievances are not appropriate in our discussion areas. We will also not tolerate any post that encourages others to violate any policy of Linden Lab
  3. Oh so you mean we should all post in a way to see what we can get away with according to the guidelines?
  4. It is too open to abuse especially for newer people who haven't the knowledge yet to be able to gauge whether they are wasting their money on something.
  5. Depends on how others bring it back up. If light hearted fun its all fine but when there is a vindictiveness behind it then it would just be rude and probably against the spirit of the guidelines.
  6. better then being over confident, I had to redo a driving test because of reasons and though my written test was perfect, my previous years of driving made me overconfident and making some mistakes from bad habits I had developed. The Tester did let me go on one so-so mistake or otherwise I would have made enough errors to fail.
  7. Yes and if there is going to be a joke at my expense, I at least want a share in the comedic moment.
  8. I think there is a lot to be said for an upfront L$ gift, preferably from the Lab, as it prompts people to at least go and look at what stores or the Marketplace have to offer and will often at the very least entice a new person to stay long enough to spend the L$. There are other Virtual worlds out there that have successfully used a monetary carrot to enhance their new user retention. Since the Lab seems to be able to distinguish between brand new accounts and new Alt accounts, there wouldn't be the concern for gaming that at least.
  9. Especially by those who regularly suggest it to others and then refuse to take their own advice.
  10. Hasn't it been decades since the last one? It'd be a little skunky by now
  11. That peeve for me is directed at the Lab. Some extra and better emoji responses is such a simple and oft requested addition that they haven't allowed, it makes me question the sort of mentality that seems to be the norm up in management. If they can't be arsed to give the little things, how can they be trusted to ever give us the big ones?
  12. Why, is there a more interesting thread going on somewhere?
  13. Could be a combination of things but I'd chalk up the biggest reason being summertime in the northern hemisphere. Have heard and read of quite a few in the real world who were going to use this summer as a time to catch up on all the summertime activities they haven't been able to participate in after the whole Covid fiasco of the past couple of years.
  14. Yes same for me on the lazy part and compounded with the fact that I just don't consider it to be any of my business. Especially when it gets into researching the profiles of any alts if I even knew how. On the forum I am only focused on what is being said and whether I would be interested in discussing it. The poster's backstories if even accurate is of no interest to me except with what they share in the forum itself.
  15. Because you mentioned doing that a few times in past, I decided one day to look up the profiles of some of the forum regulars (noone that is involved in this thread) and was surprised how some described themselves quite differently from how they portray themselves on the forums. It was an interesting experiment and just went to show how many of us are not very aware of the difference between who we think we are and the reality of what other people see.
  16. I don't know Bill or his previous incarnations afaik so if he had directed that meme at me, he has obviously misunderstood why I am involved in this thread. Otherwise Love, it is you who misunderstood the intent of it.
  17. That is what makes forums exciting isn't it? The fact that no matter what is said, very few will change their minds unless they are open to it. These threads are mostly for our own benefit in hammering down what one's own thoughts and opinions are on something.
  18. Good thing you still remember what the topic was about. As I was wading through your last post I was starting to wonder
  19. No, I've been responding to people complaining about how other people are using the forums. Whatabout when you are posting from the perspective of your lion mascot? Are you saying the posts where you use that should be ignored?
