    They need to keep the place afloat and so they do what they think that is needed to keep people hanging around. That is where they make the money. And of course their own money making has more value for them than the money others take out of the platform. So yes they can and yes they should if needed IMHO.

    LL can trow in enough regions for mega events, without blinking with their eyes. We all pay for them. Good luck if we (as non Lindens) want to organize an event on such scale. And for the Lab it is internal advertising and showcasing as well.

    LL competes with the land barons as well with mainland and Belli, it competes with the house rental market with Belli, it competes with the body market with the new mesh avatars. And yes, it competes with event organizers. They own the place, so they can, I guess.

    That's the reason why the houses near water are so popular in Bellisseria. So Belli doesn't need toilets, but more water areas.

    Where is the nearest supermarket in Bellisseria? I'm so craving for chocolate. There should have been at least some chocolate in the "welcome package". One can't nibble on a lamp if one isn't a hamster or a beaver.

    Make sure to click the pole first and then the flag. It makes the flag the root prim. The script should work. If you follow Eddy's description step by step there is no script needed.

    Hey, some are Lions, some play DJs, other hosts or fortune tellers. Some are angels, others gnomes. When I was setting up shop at the Shop & Hop I saw someone being a centaur and obviously a merchant too. So you go around as an expert? Kudos for you. I once had an alt who was a tiny, a lion and a king at the same time, cool or what? If I think I ever need an expert to ruin my hobby with all kind of RL management rules and principles, I will drop you a line. Do you have an inworld office already, with a fancy Xerox machine and all? For now: my business, my rules, my mistakes, my triumphs, my do's and don't's, if you don't mind. It is a hobby, I'm not interested in getting rich. Next weeks tier and some money to buy new stuff is more than enough. If I want to sell something for 60 L$ I will. If I want to sell for 660 L$ I'll do that. And maybe tomorrow the other way around. Take a break for a few weeks, why not? That is how my SL economy works. And it is because I want it to work that way for me. For each and every merchant in SL mileages vary. For most it is a hobby, for some roleplay, for others the goal is some beer money in RL. Some depend more or less on it as a part of their RL income. A few manage to get a RL income out of it (as the rumors go). Getting rich in RL is not the motivation for most. Most of us merchants would make more with RL burger flipping or as a paperboy. So it has no use comparing SL economics with the one in RL.

    If both events are initiated by the Lab, than coordination could indeed have been better IMHO. I know Shop & Hop is a LL organized event, but is the RFL event one too, or is it one that LL participates in as facilitator\sponsor? If the latter is the case, than these things can happen I guess, because than LL is in a supporting role, not in a leading one and the decisions about when and how are made by others. And there are so many sales events going on in SL simultaneously (think about all the weekly, monthly, quarterly recurring shopping events and special sales), it is totally impossible for a merchant to participate in even a fraction of them or for a consumer to visit them all. In the end life (even the Second one) is about choices.

    If you are really scared that they can find out your home adress in RL: VPN is your best friend. But so far nobody ever stood on my doorstep unsolicited by following my IP adress and I have the same one for over 4 years already (not using VPN either).

    Over here it said in a newspaper the outcome will be an early spring this year in the Netherlands. So I'm a happy camper and a believer for now. Anyhow, the first bouquets of tulips arrived on the shelves in the supermarkets this week, so spring can't be that far away. 😎

    IMHO it is up to the merchants to decide how much discount they want to give on their products. There is nothing written in stone about that. And it is up to the consumers to decide whether or not they buy something or not.

    Hey, at least in SL one doesn't need to drive down there first, avoid traffic congestion, search for a parking space first, carry the bags around and drive all the way home again, like in RL.

    There are one or two empty sims already online to put up more communities and there is room for more of them. I think the Lab has invited other communities in the blog post to apply. It seems to be the start of an ongoing process to me.
