  1. I don't know about other countries, but here in NL kids can have their own bank accounts with debit card (after parental permission) starting around the age of 8 years (with special use limitations that the parents can control). Many kids are allowed to use the IDEAL payment system, that over here in NL is used almost as the standard payment for Internet purchases. It is a great way to learn how to handle money IMHO. That shows how little value PIOF has for age verification I guess.
  2. If one has a post count over 30 on the forums?
  3. One is an oldbie if one understands how the inventory works.
  4. I very seldom meet newbs these days. That used to be different in the prim period when everybody was attempting to build in the sandboxes. When one stumbles over my path, I'm always glad to help, if I can. Rule of thumb, I try to answer their question and keep it at that. No need to complicate things more than starting in SL already is.
  5. As soon if you start to think about the "get of my lawn" expression in SL or the forums, than your an oldbie. i'm from the class 2007 too and I don't feel like I'm an oldbie. And now get of my lawn with this junk.
  6. They better are not to good in AI. Otherwise they might start to leave people who are not kind enough, rude or are bad at conversation. And then, the next generation will only want sugar daddies or mommies.
  7. If we had so many different clothing, hairs, make up and shoes in SL we would need a sophisticated system too, to stay on top of things, I guess.
  8. Yes I'm one of the 98%. I didn't know that. With my next listing on the marketplace I will certainly experiment with a image attached to the folder. But I don't think I will adjust all the listings that already exist. I don't have an extra work fetish.
  9. 🙊 Don't get our Moles excited to search for it.
  10. Well, so far there is no fighting, door slamming, name calling, lol cats postings, politics or religion. So it is an above average thread in my book.
  11. Buzz word? "Look, look, we already haz the next new shiny."
  12. Mentor bots for newbies can be a great addition for instance. But if they pop up in everyday SL without being easily recognizable as NPC's, no thanks.
  13. SL has 20 years of history on it's shoulders. Including many mistakes that can't be easily repaired. People have to learn too much in a short time, if they want to do something sensible with SL. So a lot is learned only partly and sloppy. That will not change any time soon IMHO.
  14. The apartment complex where I live in RL is owned by a home owner association. Each apartment owner owns an equal part of the building. Everything is decided at owner's meetings. Biggest problem every time: to get enough owners at the meeting to even be able to make decisions. A certain quota is needed to be present by law. And than we are not talking about peanut ownership of part of a sim, but 150 - 200K Euro apartments in RL. A lot of owners could not care less, and only participate in gallery gossip talk about how things should be handled. This is not a good idea for SL IMHO.
  15. I don't know what they pay today either. I have a number from years ago too. If someone was a Mole as a hobby in that time, it was a nice compensation for the time invested. If one considered being a Mole as a RL job, not so much IMHO. But they might have changed it all over the years. So yeah, I agree asking directly is the best way if one is interested in a Mole function.
  16. Damn, that is serious stuff that you have to deal with. I now can see, why switching of RL is hard for you when you go into SL. But still give it a try, it can be worth it. Second Life helps me forget my physical limitations for a few hours too at times. Sadly not always. At days that I'm depressed in RL, it is hard to leave that behind in SL. Life simply really sucks at times.
  17. My 2 cents: Don't compare yourself too much with others. SL is IMHO about having fun for yourself with what you do, not if you have the same or better results than others. I'm a builder and merchant in SL. Am I the best builder in SL? No. Am I a top seller? No. Will I ever become the best builder in SL? No. Do I enjoy building? Yes. So I simply do it and enjoy it, even though I'm not the ace in the pack and never will be. Is every day in SL a success? Nooooooooooooooo. There are weeks and weeks that nothing seems to work out. Then I do other things inside or outside of SL until inspiration is back. Do what you like to do, without forcing yourself to become the best. Enjoy being who you are. No need for constant improvement. The rat race is something for RL. In my experience one tiny step at the time is enough to have fun in SL.
  18. The fear for the LL Implementation Routines™ .....
  19. SL is a vanity platform. So one only can exaggerate what people like about bodies, but not what they don't particularly like.
  20. So the Lab is so embarrassed about what they pay, that they have to put it under protection of a NDA? I know what they payed a few years ago, and I would be embarrassed too if it was me hiring. The Moles are worth their weight in gold for the Lab. But that is not exactly what they payed back then.
