  1. From the Shop-n-Hop I was looking for the bats I saw in some shops as decorations (not for sale ). I ended up here in this awesome shop in Shouded Glad. I found this very neat animesh clown. Total creep! There are a number of other animesh people. All very well done. sculpting and animation.
  2. What do you mean your SL is not loading? Does it never load textures? Are huge parts of the world not loading? Does that happen in all regions? When you ask a tech question we need lots of information. Click the viewer's HELP->About... and copy-paste that info in the post with your request. Which computer? Mac Windows... which OS? Which video driver version? How many lost packets? And on and on... answer all these questions by including the Help->About... info.
  3. Slink included an Auto Hide with its classic body. Others did similar things. I've used Slink's but it isn't that handy and has problems occasionally. When they moved to BOM they eliminated that alpha-cuts system, Auto Hide, and reduced the render cost considerably. This reverted users back to the classic alpha layers used pre-mesh. But in those pre-mesh days, more residents understood how to make System Clothes and Alphas. Which puts complete control of what is hidden in your hands. And it is easy to include an alpha layer in an outfit. Now designers are making mixes of BOM and alpha-cut styles of bodies. So it may be easy or a PITA to handle alpha-ing out parts of the body. This completely depends on how YOU handle the alphas. In those cases where it is a TOTAL PITA and you have to go through a PROCESS each time you wear an outfit, consider making a copy of the body just for that outfit. Get the body and outfit the way you want it. This assumes you use one copy of the body for day-to-day wear. Then make a copy of the body. Substitute that copy into the outfit. Your normal day-to-day body can then be changed in the future without messing up the outfit. So this process is a one-time thing for each outfit, not something one has to do each time the outfit is worn.
  4. Then there was the day I decided my phone would be good to use when shaving my private areas. Worked really well. But how do I stop the LIKES?
  5. Interesting question... I am in the middle of picking a new body. I am now convinced that I'll have to give up my Slink bodies. While I bought a Belliza GenX I will be abandoning it since they won't let me develop for it. Wish I had asked for the Dev Kit BEFORE I bought it. Multi-body pack... I like but I only buy items made for my body. Which, right now, is still Slink. If I REALLY REALLY like something and it comes in GenX I sometimes cave and buy it. But a multi-body pack is NOT a deciding factor for me. If it is a single body and the body I need, that is good. Color packs... for this it depends on the price. If something comes in 50 colors and I only like 2 of them... I'll often buy two single-color dresses to save money. If I really like an item I'll go for the multiple-color pack. A lot of the decision depends on how much I like an item. Unfortunately, that doesn't lend itself well to designers' decision-making.
  6. There are good free image editors. GIMP is way popular. Paint.net is surprisingly good. The free top 10 for 2023 are here. One has to watch how others use the tools to get a handle on editing images. I suggest Natsumi Xenga here. You'll see her videos run 1 to 2 hours and she has sped up the video so the actual editing took longer. The images are amazing. She has tutorials and Q&A on how see sets up and then edits in post. When I am doing images in SL I vary from quick snaps as I explore or play to actual sessions just for photos. Then I may spend a couple of hours or more getting shots that take 2 or 3 minutes to maybe 30 minutes. In post, I usually spend 10 minutes editing and cropping. If I really like an image, think it can be made way better, or need to fix animation distortions (i.e., hand inside a hip or breast or folded joints) then I will often spend some time. Those images I really like and come out of editing as I intended usually end up on Flickr. I tend to do less editing for those I post on the forum. Not always. This is the raw image. This is the edited image. The larger version is below. The editing took maybe 15 minutes because I was experimenting with different processes to get the look I wanted. In Photoshop selections are MUCH easier now. They are very quick. Previously I might have spent 15 or 20 minutes just building the selection of the avatar. Now it is like 2 maybe 3 clicks. Natsumi goes for a more photorealistic look. I try for a semi-SL-realistic. One has to decide what they are trying for and make the edit. PS: Something weird is going on... when I wrote this post and when I edit the link to the image in "...look today" shows. But when I click SAVE the link changes... maybe that is just in my browser... The raw link is: https://community.secondlife.com/forums/topic/405992-how-does-your-avatar-look-today/?do=findComment&comment=2646316
  7. The outfit and picture came out great. I know this inventory-use-forgotten problem. I made a folder labeled NEW. Unpacked things go there and the box to another place. Once in an outfit, I move the piece to its 'proper place'. I figure once the NEW folder hits 5,000+ items and I can't log in I'll quit shopping... naw, probably find a workaround...
  8. Keep a list of your friends on your computer. You will need to provide a list of friends if you ever have to reclaim your account or recover your password.
  9. OMG! What are all these posts without pictures!?! If you want to have a conversation, fine. BUT INCLUDE an image. Don't make me get of my car and come over there...
  10. Mother Road is an interesting place. Lots of desert. Big Redneck-looking community. I got hit on in the first 10 minutes... which I consider a plus.
  11. When a demo times out before I can finish checking it out, I simply trash the demo. No chance I'll buy the piece. However, after reading here, I may send a note card to the designer. There are times when I try a demo and think this might work with something else I have seen. I'll take the demo off and go chasing the 'something else' and similar pieces. It may be days later that I start trying the demo again. I may be trying a demo with several other pieces/demos. I can easily burn up 30 minutes. While I can unpack another copy of the item, it is annoying. I run out of patience. Screw it. DELETE. Timed demos are OK if I am given enough time. I can get by with 30 to 60 minutes. The non-timed demos using rings of text are often annoying too. Anything that blocks my view is annoying.
  12. @Jesiris Singularity and Cool VL Viewer are the two best for low-end hardware. Your easiest and cheapest upgrade is to add more memory. You can use CPU-Z (free app) to see what type of memory is in the computer now. You can also see how many slots are on the motherboard and how many memory sticks make up your memory. The third-generation CPU will use slower memory so it should be cheap. Adding memory sticks is easier than rolling your operating system back. You can watch a video on YouTube to see how to upgrade memory.
  13. Thanks all. Now I am set for the 'What did I learn today' thread. 😊
  14. No... that is how MY SL looks today... 😛
  15. Sailing in the Blake Sea on a Topless Tuesday Cruise. I missed the group sailing. I keep missing the first turn and hitting a ban line parcel. I remember being able to bounce off ban lines. This time I like a bug on a windshield. By the time I got past that MESS I was way far behind. Crossings worked well except for double crossings... 😕 I botched a couple and ended up on the bottom of the sea. I was surprised at the number of airports along the way with multi-level runways... I had great fun flying the cruise route later in a helicopter. I haven't flown for a while. Shergood's EC-135 is a touchy bird and I've lost my touch. True. It shows where people are at, who digs for facts and unbiased analysis, and who accepts the media's story. And it is kinda funny if one ignores the suggestion of violence. I suspect if it had been Biden in the pin and a shive were mentioned it would have been reported and removed. RL and politics leak into SL.
  16. With the Advanced Lighting Model addition how facelights work changed. EEP changed some of the controls in various panels but the lights still work as they did in pre-EEP ALM. This has resulted in re-designed facelights. I make some that use Projectors and the kit is an educational tool to teach people how to use them. HERE. There is a link to a video on that page which you can watch for free to see how they work and look in SL. The non-projector lights can still be used but the design is more complicated for them. Also, they still light things around them in 360. So facelights have become WAY LESS popular and now annoy many people. Older prim facelights often look like a supernova popped off when ALM is on. Those that are Mod-OK can be updated for use with ALM. And newly designed prim facelights work pretty well.
  17. This sort of thing happens at random times. I've had it happen at login and after being on for hours and passing through numerous regions. I think, this happens when the server sent "avatar wearing this" messaging fails and the viewer never gets the complete list. In Firestorm you can request the list be resent. Top menu->Avatar->Avatar Health->Force Appearance Update (Rebake) or Ctrl-Alt-R. Sometimes, the Top menu->Avatar->Avatar Health->Refresh Attachments or Alt-Shift-R is also needed.
  18. Priapism Education Association aka Pea Obviously for newcomers...
  19. Quite the flap... 😄 I hate it when it double-posts 🤔
