  1. Some places in SL suck, others dont. Banlines are not going to go away becuase they are inconvient when you ride near them. The best bet is to do what most do, stay off Mainland Sims and buy/ride on sims where there is a single owner made for them. Sorry to rain on your rant. :matte-motes-wink-tongue:
  2. Temp rez problems with textures could be a number of reason including your own PC and your SL Viewer (Phoenix perhaps). As for the no sale? What do you mean?
  3. For Linden Land, you have to assign your allocated land rights to the group you are deeding to. The land allocations are fixed by the amount you pay for your membership each month. http://community.secondlife.com/t5/English-Knowledge-Base/Group-owned-land/ta-p/700079#Reclaiming_group_land Designate who pays for this land in your group setting and make sure you can allocate all of your land rights to the group. You can do this within the group information on the last tab under Land. A couple of things to also consider are: Make sure you can deed land to the group and that those group rights are enabled for this. Make sure you have the land in your name
  4. First make sure your keywords are relevant. If all else fits, file a ticket. You may also want to look at other post as this question is posted at least once a week. I include what the item is in the title which seems to help as I have heard with other merchants. You may want to try this as well if you haven't already.
  5. A few reasons actually as I'm sure you will find out here but the main reason is to allow you to build and save multiple outfits. Many merchants give you an option of Copy or Transfer, however, this requires at least one extra prim for each object in the store to do this. As most prefer copy, you get copy for both the sanity of the merchant and the ease of use for the buyer. If there where no prim limits (the driving force behind Linden Labs' income) we would see more merchants with both options.
  6. Aside from the fact that this program got deep sixed, here is something to consider and to better understand online digital sales. As inventory cost you nothing and there is very little in the area of Cost of Sales (CoS), any income derived is additional income. When we closed down the SexGen sim for our remodel, we offered a 75% off sale and put out some of our most popular items as what we considered Loss Leaders. The irony of this was that our income shot through the roof. I can make good money off a sofa I sell for $200 L which is reasonable however, if I set this to $L 50, the sales go through the roof. When it comes to digital sales, quantity is everything, regardless of the price. By "saturating" the market, you get more of your products out in view and people do click on the object they like to see where its made. Ever one of my products that are rezzed is another point of marketing for me.
  7. That would be near impossible to track and facilitate. Many of the objects in our inventories are not even for sale any longer, often more then 1 person sells the same product and then there is the question as to where you send them to. Not to mention the insane size of the database needed to do this along with the tracking systems that would need to be created. They didn't even enforce IP blacklisting until a year ago. I'm happy they are at least protecting content owners, even if my shoppers don't know how to come back and get my stuff. So, at this point, why would I think it's a priority to send someone back into my store that has been busted with stolen content?
  8. Yes and nearly daily. I tell them the entire story, from what the metaverse is and how it applies to a social community. How this came out of a game engine designed to enable users to create new games to what it is today. I evangelize every detail and most are very interested in hearing more. The I wrap it up with, you need to come see it to fully understand. I had a client in SL several years back and after about 10 meeting with them in world, they decided to spend some time exploring on their own. After that, they called me and said "wow, we totally get it now and we want in". It has little to do with understanding this place, none of us fully do yet it's moreover, the understanding of a 3D virtual internet and how it applies to what we are today. I explain the house preview idea. Imagine looking for houses on line where you can walk into the house with an avatar the represents yourself, change the layout, add your own furniture and colors. Do you think you would be more suited to buy a home like this? Everyone I've asked this to, got it. They may not get the entire thing but they will get enough of an idea to want to check it out.
  9. What odd is that your character test isn't working since it does not need to load. If that doesn't work, I would try to clear your cache again then try to character test. Sounds pretty severe in your case as the character test has always been the final when everything else didn't work. However, when trying to build I had a ton of bounce backs adjustments. You know, where you adjust something and it keeps bouncing back to where you had it? It's looking like we are nearing another major asset outage as this has been getting worse recently. They really need to get away from the Amazon cloud and find a more reliable storage solution.
  10. Fornicola Butuzova wrote: LET MERCHANTS RATE BUYERS, like ebay. The comments left can be judged by those who look at them as a long time serious and fair SL resident or some nooby who thinks the ratings system is just a place to rant. There are many out there who do not understand the system, and thrive on drama and live for attention that complaining gets them. Nobody understand that comments are there forever, and can do real damage. They do not distinguish between the relevance of a rating and it consequences and a meaning less twitter comment or plurk. We had even discussed the idea of a counter rating for the user. If they consistently give 1 star, then they get a reviewer rating of 1 star. Then those who read that reviewer ratings, they know what they are likely to rate a product. Another idea that came up that is unnerving is that they can rate you with the stars and not have their names revealed. If they rate it, they need to take responsibility for this and their names with their rating must be given along with their rating. I hope the Lindens are reading this as it's really time to define this archaic system and make some major changed or just dump it.
  11. Steph Catseye wrote: I agree with you Chelsea, in fact I made a post like this 2 months ago! There is shady competition out there and customers who don't read or don't know how to get on the page where they can read the info! I have one free outfit out there that "sold" 15,000 units and got 23 ratings! I have another regular item that sold almost 1000 times and got 6 reviews (5 x***** and 1x *) it is listed as a 4 Star item which doesn't represent the quality and the customer opinion! To rate a product should be more prominent like it is on eBay, hell even my Pizza Delivery is sending me email reminders to rate the quality of the Pizza! This way it has no point since cheating in both directions is to easy and the really quality of the product is not displayed at any time! This is one of the typical cases where the Lindens mean good and delivery a proper system but don't know it from everyday usage as a customer and or a merchant and wouldn't understand our concerns even if we told them! Yes and at the time I don't think I truly appreciated what you said but since then, I have been watching closer. It amazes me when I see what I know to be an awful product that has dozens of reviews with those that are clearly better and not a one. It's so clearly getting gamed much like the "Teleport in your friends to vote for you" think at clubs. I like the idea of a pop up asking that products get reviewed on the next purchase or something similar to what we had before as it did remind our buyers to review. Now it little more than a place to vent your complaints with little to no ability to control it.
  12. In a word...YARD SALE! (OK, two words) :matte-motes-sarcasm:
  13. Truth is, I rely on in world sales and search as about 90% of my sales comes from my stores. However, the rating system as I see it, does not help new merchants who don't have the traffic and in world presence that I enjoy. On another note, I can think a few more things I'd rather do than police my rating tags. But yes, I agree Mickey and as usual, we are on the same page.
  14. I had another one last night where there was an error in delivery and within 15 minutes, they had a flaming rating on that product that had nothing to do with that product or the delivery. I had it removed and when I was able to correct the error, they where kind enough to go back and re-write a review. However, as I look at the High Rated products I found a few things that I was concerned with. Most new products do not have any kind of rating as the system no longer forces users to the their rating page like it used to. This means that new products are far less likely to have a rating than the older products that where previously rated before the new Marketplace was launched.Old ratings on old products that by comparison, would not receive these ratings today as those products are not as good as some of the new things being made today.Gamed ratings where Creators had their friends all rate their product.Inaccurate returns in search that show lower rated products over higher rated products when you search by rating.Products that had 1 rating listing higher then those with more. All very inaccurate. In the end, do we even need this still? Isn't it time we said good bye to the old rating system much as we did the People Rating system we said goodbye to years ago?
  15. Bump for more information! I see where you got that and yes, it does seem that there is a way to get them into a private estate. I am assuming this is a private sim however, it is not clear as to the process. "Second Life is an environment for people 16+. However, educators working with teens ages 13-15 do have the option to create secure, private estates on which their younger (13-15 year old) students can be limited. If you have questions regarding limiting these accounts, please email business@lindenlab.com"
  16. It could be the rendering from your Level of Detail settings but you may also want to just clear your cache and relog first. if this does not work you will have to change your debug setting for LOD.
  17. Qie Niangao wrote: Next? Ideally, restricting all content uploads to users with a registered and verifiable RL identity (for which PIOF is LL's best current proxy). Again, I will more than likely ruffle feathers but that's just the Juris Doctorate coming out and always focused on threats and liability. I could not agree with you more. Being in the Adult Content business, both RL and here, I have a serious concern about the images that are sitting on Linden Labs asset servers. Should some form of Child Pornography end up there, Linden Labs could potentially have ALL their asset servers confiscated and impounded. Given the anonymity of this world, I see where there could be no recourse or cooperation granted to the FBI, DoD and others in a matter of content trafficking. However, this being said, I have been opposed to free accounts since the day the announced them and have seen what has become of Second Life since then since it was little more than a marketing move to boost numbers and attract corporate interest. Which as we all know, that corporate interest has all but dissipated.
  18. I don't mean to offend anyone and would like to state, if you are in the land business, I know how hard it is and admire your efforts. However, if I might as so bold as to make a suggestion to those running this forum [Linden Labs]. I am seeing more and more real estate offers taking over the "recently created" section of the forums and moreover, real estate sales are rarely "Threads" per say, just postings. I agree that they too need a forum however, for land sales and rental offers, they really are not threads and should not appear under the "Recently Created Threads" section. I see a path to abuse already starting with multiple listing for the same offer showing up over and over in the Recently Created Threads area. Just my two cents worth and though I feel your pain to find free marketing vehicles, I think it's time to make some changes that limit your access to unsolicited marketing.

  20. That might make sence...a real estate scam. The last one had all the objects in one persons name who was not in the DB and the person I saw standing in the house was afk and not the same person who owned all the objects. Perhaps they show a house, collect the money and then poof? Maybe I should change the name of this post to "Beware of Rental Scams" :smileywink:
  21. Must be a sign of the times or the fact that SL is free but lately, I have had more and more issues with people land squatting. Actually rather bizarre when you think about it. They move in and rezz a skybox at 4k meters or such and build an elaborate house and clearly spend many hours decorating. This last one, when I looked up their name for an AR it told me that person was not found. Lately, it's been happening more and more. On a couple of my sims, I just leave them open like a sand box since I have friends that use them with their alts. I just go to the land panel and return things from time to time which is why I don't block building or have my return on requiring a group. What flabbergast me is that someone would think they could do this unnoticed. Are they trying to take advantage of a situation, are they griefers or are they just plain stupid? I had this happen once about 5 years ago when I was building my first sim but not since. 22 sims later it now seems to have become a common occurrence. Is there a system that tells them when land is open for build? A scanner of sorts that tells them where to go to find open land or do they just stop and drop when they tour sims sort of like the real estate for sale scanner that is now banned? The real question is, has anyone been seeing more of this lately?
  22. I assume by complete sale you mean that you will pay Linden Labs directly for your sim each month. Unless you already have a full sim, you cannot get an open space sim as they need to attach to an account with a full sim. Even if you buy one, they will not allow you to keep it unless it is attached to an account with a full sim. I had 7 regular sims and 4 open space sims. When I closed down my regular sims, they took away my ability to have an openspace sim. I have also had friends who had full sims try to transfer an open space to me and again, Linden Labs would not since I did not have a full sim.
