  1. I'm not noticing this nor are my customers however, yyour users could be in a laggy sim which will always affect asset delivery.
  2. This belongs under Land and not in Wanted. Besides, most in the Commerce Forums own land and many own sims. Not really your target audience.
  3. I know it does sound odd and moreover, it seems that people absolutely love to throw others under the bus. You see it here constantly with people sticking their noses in places where one, the do not have a reason to as it does not affect them and two, have no authority or grounds to do so. From what I see on the forums, its getting worse however, when I was a mentor, it was constant in the mentor Group Channel. My assumption is that people overall are bored in SL and have little else to do. Many are here because they are bored in RL and oddly enough, the same attributes that make them boring carry over here. To me, SL is about being what YOU want to be. Giving it your all or giving it nothing. Doing your own thing and growing your talents, skills, assets or whatever. Second Life is about YOUR second life. In the end, I say let them eat dirt! Do you thing and screw the objections. As long as you are following the rules, be yourself and have fun. And most important, stay away from asses as there are many here. You can play an innocent child and do not harm or threaten anyone but you get reported however, if you wanted to tape bombs around your waist and play a terrorist, this is OK? I feel your pain Serafuku.
  4. PayPal rarely works. If you want more consistent transaction, use your credit card and set up a payment info on file other than PayPal.
  5. Truth is YOU cancelled the agreement and the agreement was to let you use their land space. They did not deny you of the ability to use this space did they? If you decided to default, there is no obligation on their part. As for legal recourse, you need a letter of agreement, documentation or otherwise stating that if you terminate early, you will get a refund. Chances are, you make more in RL than you lost here for the equivalent time. If you make $10.00 an hour and spend 15 minutes writing this, this post just cost $2.50 or roughly 700 Lindens. How much did you loose in your real estate deal?
  6. Congratulations! And welcome! You are about to venture into an unknown area to most and any expertise in 3D digital commerce comes from the experience we have had in SL meaning there are not true hard rules as we are writing them as we go along. A couple of tips can be found on a post a while back about this: http://community.secondlife.com/t5/Commerce-Forums-General/New-to-retail-This-is-what-your-customers-hate/td-p/512637 Your traffic will grow and needs to in order to get the conversions you need. It's not about traffic, it's about converting your traffic. One problem with SL is that it lacks access to marketing and few users will go outside of SL to look for stuff except in the case of Marketplace. Learn to use it fully and use its features to help you market and cross market your products. Most important, never push yourself into a corner with statements like "I will only give my marketplace URL through private message requests, or search for my name. I do not want to be suggested to be advertising for my store.". Be open minded and willing try it all.
  7. By UI, I take it you mean your SL Viewer that you access SL with? If so, knowing which one you are using would help.
  8. I can appreciate your position but the first and foremost point of quality customer service is to never make your customers feel like a nuisance. I do everything I can to go out of the way for my customers which in large part is why I am still in business today after 5 years. You may want to consider an alternate to getting information to your customers. A prepared notecard with some images and the link to your marketplace store or a landmark is easy to do. You simply drag and drop the information into the notecard. You can even include gift objects or demos onto the notecard though few attach object to notecards but it can be done. From what you had said in your post, I must agree that you do not come across friendly. That could just be a language problem but your wording is not what I would consider friendly. Simply put, always go the extra mile and never, ever make a customer feel like they are an inconvenience. There really is no excuse for bad service, especially in light of the fact that this is just a game. Serisouly, how much effort would have to go into passing a notecard. 9. You can also unpack at my store as I let people rez there. It's set to autoreturn in a few minutes. http://slurl.com/secondlife/Stunning/45/77/24
  10. Yes Natalia, unfortunately like most businesses, they can only operate, advance and/or survive by generating income. I guess I am sort of the same way as this is the only reason I go to work each day is to get paid. However, that being said, I do agree that a lot of great builds have bit the dust. I have personally built 22 full Sims and all but 1 are offline today. I owned 8 of them myself and of those, I tried to hang on to one or two of the best ones as they where incredible builds that took months but no one was interested in keeping them alive. I had always thought it would be in Linden Labs interest to keep failing Sims alive by taking them over. Sort of like what our government does with companies who are two big to fail but without the insane price tag. They used to do this but today, they are focused on revenues though I am not really sure many of them understand how to position their company for success. Sort of like the Homestead sale system. Why not sell anyone who wants a homestead and not force them to buy a full Simi? Imagine the level of sales they would generate but they want to be greedy and keep the system they have now, then fine, it's not my bottom line being affected. However, when it comes to keeping good Sims alive, it is my "experience" that is affected and my time means much more to me than my money.
  11. slowtime Rang wrote: Are you seriously saying that you would allow someone to steal from your mom, grandmother, brother just because it's not YOURS? .................. For someone to actually say that other people can't protect my rights shows what kind of low some of the people on this planet can be. What happens when it's something YOU have created and no one protects you? What will you be screaming then? To answer your first question, if you can determine the "relationship" between you and the content you can enforce it however, in the case of the proxy relationship you refer to, I would still need to prove ownership if by deed, co-ownership, will, trust, etc. As for your last statement, I believe I did answer this and yes, I do scream with a valid DMCA and/or court order in hand along with my Library of Congress validation of my Copyright File to show that I have the right to treble damages. But only I can make a claim over my content, not you or anyone else and to tell you the truth, that's how I want it.
  12. This is not my assumption, this is how the US law works. I know this because I am a copyright attorney and this is what I do every day. Protect content owners from piracy. Simply put, the DMCA nor the original US copyright law does not provide for YOU, an unrelated party, to enforce another's copyright under the law. The process requires that the owner of that content prove their right to ownership. When this is done, then the persons who do not have a right to ownership can be determined. One has to establish the relationship between said content owner and the property before they can establish the misuse of said assets. Only the content owner or persons acting on their behalf (with the knowledge and permission) can validate ownership. I am not disputing that this is a problem however, the process that is in place, is there for very valid reasons. If this was not the case, could you imaging the chaos? Go ahead and try it for yourself and see how far you get. :matte-motes-big-grin:
  13. Like bilinear and trilinear filtering, anisotropic filtering eliminates aliasing effects, but improves on these other techniques by reducing blur and preserving detail at extreme viewing angles. got it.
  14. Doesn't Anisotropic filtering remove any Anti-Aliasing effect?
  15. YaY!! Thank to both of you and both exactly what I needed. Best of all, no Kermit the Frog dressed like a girl videos. :matte-motes-sarcasm:
  16. Finally got around to playing with my bewbs last night...errrr, breast physics...and is it just me that sees this as a terrible interface? How can you adjust your physical movement when you go into appearance mode and are locked into a T-Pose? Is this just sort of trial and error or is there a better way to do this that I am not getting? And please do not send me a link to a Torley Linden video. Sorry Torley, nothing against you personally, I was never a big fan of Sesame Street either. :matte-motes-wink-tongue:
  17. I just thought Truth would work as they do the second attachment layer. Another place that I love (probably because its so unusual) is Emo-Tions.
  18. YaY!! Getting away from my RL work to do my SL work! It IS more fun.
  19. /me is confused. You cannot afford rent to open your store however if it "fades" you will pay back the investment with interest? How can you pay back a loan if your store "fades" when you can't afford the small funds to open it? Seriously, you are talking less than a hundered bucks here and you can't wing it? Why not try what most of us have done. Build a small presence and if you are good at it, you will grow and in time, you will have a real business.
  20. If you created the work and own the copyright, if you are an attorney acting on behalf of the copyright owner (with power of attorney) or if you are an officer in the company that owns the copyright, you can file a DMCA through Linden Labs. You must be able to prove that YOU own it. Deviant Art Does license content and though it may be from there or many of the other royalty free libraries, does not mean it is stolen however, if it is not yours than it's not yours to protect.
  21. All sales are time stamped though it will be in your transaction record, not in the MP UI. You should get an email of the same. Look into your transaction record in your SL UI as well. Dear Chelsea Malibu, Order ID: 14944017 Purchased By: XXXXXXXXXXXX Line Item 1: Malibu "Amethyst" Chandelier Delivered to: XXXXXXXXXXXXXX Listing URL: http://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/Malibu-Amethyst-Chandelier/204515 SKU: amethyst Delivered Quantity: 1 of 1 Purchased on: June 16, 2011 12:47 pm PDT Buyer's Price (for delivered items): L$375 Distributions Total (for delivered items): L$0 Marketplace Commission (for delivered items): L$19 Your Earnings (for delivered items): L$356 Your Total Earnings (for delivered items): L$356 However, each summer everyone in digital sales (websites, download sites, memberships sites) all see a slump and have for the 12 years I have been in the online business. This summer seemed to start a bit earlier than most which may in part be due to the global economy. However, I have seen sales trickling in though more so in my stores than on the marketplace. My advice would be to give it some time before you become concerned then look at everything to see why your sales are non-existent as it could be many things. If you have an in world store, you can gage your sales against that. If your stores are slow, you can be assured the marketplace store will be too.
  22. which viewer are you using? Regardless, whatever you are using, your setting will always be dictated by the computer you are using and it's capabilities. If you have a full on gaming box, crank everything up except shadows. I have yet to see a computer that runs SL shadows well without some kind of lag.
