Respecting parcel boundaries concerning messaging
Peewee Musytari replied to Tahl's topic in Second Life Server
Tahl wrote: Thanks, and my apologies. I should have personally checked another viewer. Apparently phoenix has it, firestorm doesn't, and all of the documentation and wiki pages I googled don't have it. Edit: But of course the 2.8.0 release notes do. lol It is a very recent LL feature & there has a been a Phoenix update since it was introduced, but not a Firestorm update yet. It will be in the next Firestorm release coming soon along with mesh support and 64m prims. -
TOS on sculptie maps make it impossible to use
Peewee Musytari replied to KittyCat Ninetails's topic in Merchants
KittyCat Ninetails wrote: actually it won't help to make the drinks delete themselves after one use. The problem is this. I make a barrel of mead. You buy it. You set it out in your roleplay tavern. John comes by and clicks on on the barrel to get a drink. He is offered the menu of meads in the barrel. He chooses one drink. The permissions on the barrel are no problem. But...the drink MUST be copy/trans or the barrel will break. If the mead in the barrel is copy only then only you..as the owner of the barrel..can get a drink. If the mead is trans only..then only John will get a drink..and only once. Then the barrel is empty. Yes, I did understand the problem & agree that it is a silly restriction in that situation. Obviiously the rule is there to stop their sculpts being released copy/trans, which is why I said to make it no mod and script it to self destruct. The other alternative would be to contact the creator. Obviously their rules have to be as general as possible & are not written specifically for every potential use. You make a good case as to why, with your other settings, their product is not at risk & you could make a contract for use for your particular case with the creator. -
TOS on sculptie maps make it impossible to use

You could make the drinks scripted so that they can only be used once or twice or whatever and then they vanish from your inventory. If they are no mod the script can`t be removed. -

Error Message for Removed Posts and/or Threads

Darrius Gothly wrote: .. or at least a "Rumbler" in the mouse similar to that in a lot of Game Console Controllers. Of course the mouse would have to come with a list of cautions and disclaimers similar to "Check with your doctor to see if your heart is healthy enough for computer activities." Yup, we are having WAY too much fun with this idea. I think I better go read some posts by the kvetches in GD to get my feet back on the ground some. *grin* Oh the irony lol....Make it so good that the mods pull it on the grounds of heath and safety to users. -

How to make the video or how to link to it?

I see from you other post : http://community.secondlife.com/t5/General-Discussion-Forum/HELP/m-p/1058727/message-uid/1058727#U1058727 that it was you that rezzed the object, in which case you should be able to delete it if you are quick enough to keep up with it. If you can switch scripts to group only in about land, you should be able to get it under control a lot easier.

Masami Kuramoto wrote: Deltango Vale wrote: For this reason, it will probably take years before the full benefits of mesh are utilized by residents. Even if Firestorm produces a mesh version next week, few people are going to walk around looking like idiots to 1/3 of the population. There are third-party viewers based on Linden Lab's Snowglobe 1.x (i.e. with the old UI) which are capable of rendering mesh (e.g. Astra Viewer). Astra is not on the approved TPV list & appears to be based on Imprudence, do you know for a fact that it supports mesh?

Freya Mokusei wrote: Peewee Musytari wrote: That would have to be a scripted gadget. They usually scan at regular intervals such as every 10 mins or whatever, but I guess you could set one to scan every minute if you were that desperate to talk to someone lol There is an online service that advertises the ability to get in touch with SL users by showing true online status (my belief is that it polls once, but in real-time). Considering that this thread is aimed at privacy, I'm reluctant to post the URI. Between that and some third party viewers that use LSL bridges for the same purpose, it's unfortunately not too hard at all to bypass even the basic privacy controls that we're given in-world. My personal assumption is that privacy was something that SL isn't capable of by design. Humans however have a fully functioning understanding of privacy, and those that pretend otherwise have no place in my SL. I don`t know the online service, but the scenario the OP described of someone IM`ing a second after she logs on, makes me think it is not someone using a viewer that shows online status, unless the person is REALLY sad and sitting there refreshing her profile until she logs on lol The scripted gagdets scan perdiodically & tell you if someone`s status changes, if the web based one sends you notifications then yes it could be that too. The problem is not the knowledge that people have, it is what they use it for. It doesn`t bother me at all that customers or whoever knows that I am online, so long as they respect my space & my choice about when I speak with them, which to be fair, most people do. Rude people will be rude, with or without gadgets.

Melita Magic wrote: Yeah, I have people IM me within a hot second after I log in, and not with "are you on?" but with "hi" and a smiley face, as if they know I'm on. And they're not on my friend's list. And I think I have only friends can see me online enabled. And I think there are scripts people can buy to work around that. And I don't know why they would. I don't get this whole "aha! I see you" type of thinking. That would have to be a scripted gadget. They usually scan at regular intervals such as every 10 mins or whatever, but I guess you could set one to scan every minute if you were that desperate to talk to someone lol Auto response would probably help in your case, as you can set it to just respond to non-firends & tell them to leave a message and you will get back to them or whatever. I have customers that do the same to me & I prefer to answer the offlines that I get when I login first, so any new ones get the auto-response and have to wait their turn.

How about not pulling a whole thread?
Peewee Musytari replied to Pamela Galli's topic in Forums Feedback
/me throws some chill pills at everyone I agree that most of us reading this thread are probably unaware of any specific case that prompted it, so to us it is taken on face value as a thread asking for some clarification of the modding system & in that context it is a rational & polite request, which, while it does contain some colourful descriptions, it is not in any way offensive. So it is unecessary to relive the angst of some other thread, in order to debate the issue in this one. Mickey, said "I do agree with the concept that an entire thread should not be removed, as I had left posts in the thread she is talking about and have no idea why the thread was removed, but was not able to follow it overnight." so everyone agrees there was a need for this discussion. It is also posted on the Feedback forum, so some leniency is likely to be granted in order to give proper feedback on a community issue, rather than it not being pulled due to any sort of favoritism. Lexie has already confirmed that "I think it is fine to discuss how we can make communication better here on the forums. I do see your point and maybe we can be more lenient on pulling whole threads. We will work on this. Thanks for the feedback! " So hopefully things will improve to the satisfaction of everyone. Peace! (as Hippie would say) -
Melita Magic wrote: Charge tier separately for mainland and estate sims. Then someone could own an island, pay the $300 USD a month tier, and still have a pied a terre on the Mainland, without paying for an entire new level of tier on top of the $300/month. Rather they'd be paying $305 or something like that. What do you all think? Private estate fees are already charged separately from mainland tier fees, they are a different system because you need to be a premium member to buy mainland but you only need a basic account to own a private estate.
