  1. While you're in my.secondlife.com, click on "home", see if you also get the error message. I get the same issue with Firefox.
  2. I also am unable to access my.secondlife.com in this moment, Miles1. I could do so two hours ago, so it is possibly a temporary glitch. I've only had this happen a couple of times since the inception of the feeds, and although they haven't put anything on the grid status, I think it is likely to be a little bit of maintenance going on. Keep your eyes peeled, and let's see what happens in the next hour or so.
  3. Welcome to Second Life Answers, Clay. It's not uncommon for people to be able to use the viewers that are based on the old 1.23 code, and find they have issues with V3-based viewers such as Viewer 3 and Firestorm. As valerie says, it would be very useful to see your system specifications. It might be time to invest in a new graphics card, or maybe some more RAM, but we can only guess. Also, ensure you are using a hard wired connection, rather than wireless. Looking forward to receiving your update, so we can attempt to help you further. ***** To add more to this thread, please do so by clicking on "options" at the top right hand corner of your original post and "edit".
  4. It's amazing what plants the seed of inspiration - I thoroughly enjoyed this. "These are the cries of the carrots"! :smileylol:
  5. Just a little afterthought, Robert69. Have you tried contacting the CEO of Linden Lab directly? Send him a message via his Second Life Feed, with the video link. Or invite him to accompany you to any of the welcome areas in Second Life. Why bother with us at pleb level, when you can go to the top. In 2008, I had several concerns about certain activities in Second Life, and invited the then CEO to come and see my world. He sent a representative Linden person, and I gave them a guided tour. Certain policies were made clear to me, I understood more, and I was able to properly show the Linden my concerns. It became a healthy two-way street of communication. All this fighting on the forums between residents is really not helping, and certainly, all that shouting and criticising in open chat over in the welcome areas is only feeding the griefers, amusing the locals, and scaring off the newbies.
  6. Robert69 Little wrote: http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xsc51o_ahern-welcome-area-july-2012-griefers-in-second-life_videogames Nice video footage, Robert. I mean it. And I did not see you standing there because I obviously had my camera focus elsewhere. I alt viewed each individual in turn, but did focus mostly on the ones who were actively on voice. After a while of hearing the "f" word, it becomes a bit like a car alarm, in that the brain automatically filters it out. The masturbating goat is, I feel, more of a goat-like creature. I agree it is not acceptable. I agree that this is not acceptable behaviour in a PG area, and I agree that expletives like the "f" word etc., should not be used in a PG area. However, I do not agree with your need - or anyone else's need - to make it an obsession. As I keep saying, your methods are actually just adding fuel to the fire. What is needed is an AR whenever anything inappropriate occurs, and then leave it at that. If Linden Lab choose not to take action, then you have to accept their choice and move on. Did you come into Second Life to become a vigilante? I know I certainly did not.
  7. Hello, mutandroid. Please don't start any more new threads. Let's try and keep all the information contained in one thread and see what we can do to help you. Keep checking back regularly, to see if there are new responses also. If you have previously been able to access Second Life without such problems of crashing every few minutes, then it does suggest the following to me: Your graphics card drivers need updating - please go to the nvidia website for free driver downloads Your system may be overheating - it is amazing how dust accumulates inside a computer and this can cause such problems to graphics cards. Please ensure you are using a hard wired connection as opposed to wireless. Please also keep this thread updated. We would like to know what solves your problem. More answers from others will follow too. Please keep checking back here.
  8. Welcome to Second Life Answers, Hoffman If your account has been put on hold and you have an email to this effect, you must follow the instructions given in the email. If, however, you are just getting a message up on your log in screen to say that "you cannot access Second Life from this computer", then you can call the freephone numbers given in the Knowledge Base for "Billing". If the account being on hold is an error, it will be easily rectified. However, calling LL or their rules "dumb" is not going to help your case. Please try to curb your frustrations and be calm. We, as fellow residents, would like to know how you overcome your current problem. Wishing you luck.
  9. Hello, Mordecai1989 I was just looking at your other forum thread http://community.secondlife.com/t5/Getting-Started/Downloading-SL/qaq-p/1606529 and am thinking that it is your graphics card that is preventing you from being able to access Second Life. You only have to download the Second Life viewer the one time, whereupon there should be a Second Life viewer icon placed onto your desktop for easy access. I take it that when you click on this icon, you might get the beginnings of a viewer come up on your screen, but then it vanishes? Is this the case, or can you get further than that? All things seem to point to a problem with your graphics card, unfortunately being incompatible with Second Life.
  10. Robert69 Little wrote: who the hell said anything about a "blue" horse.. I never mentioned any color. You're right - my bad - you didn't mention the horse was blue. You mentioned horse, only horse. I must have been having a flashback to 2008, when I first realised that blue horses could be quite affectionate. If the horse avatar at Ahern was mesh, I would not have been able to view it, so would have been unaware of what he was doing. I did hear someone say "put that away", when I was at Ahern, but I admit I was falling asleep, with the lateness of the hour for me, and the fact it was just so dull and boring.
  11. Welcome to Second Life Answers, EvilRoku. It's your wireless connection that is at fault here. Even though you are not having problems fully loading inventory, etc., on an alt account, that's just because your alt is needing much less information transferring. Please try to be on hard wired connection, as you are far less likely to lose aspects of your connection, such as ability to chat, teleport, etc. Also, to retrieve inventory, do please follow the instructions provided in iCade's post.
  12. Griffin Ceawlin wrote: LOL! I'm not defending anybody, Robert. The only one "defending" anything is you defending your own position, which is indefensible. I bid you a good day once more. I'm off to take a nap. :smileyhappy: @Marigold: Yeah, what you said. Every bit of it. Enjoy your nap, Griffin, you deserve it for persevering and being so patient. I'm off to cook a pasta bolognese for me and my Bro now. Peace!
  13. I don't think it is sympathy that he wants. I mean, he does seem to be going all out to get attention, but what a rancid way of going about it, eh? :matte-motes-sour: Robert69, I ask you, what did you really want when you began this thread? Did you expect everybody to come marching to your assistance like a set of vigilantes? We have agreed with you, that there are griefers at the welcome areas, and no, it's not acceptable, BUT Robert 69, you are actually adding to the problem. Every post you make here is feeding the griefers too. And everyone is laughing at you, not with you. If I had seen the big blue horse masturbating I might have submitted an abuse report, but I would not have told the blue horse that I was reporting them. I would have allowed Linden Lab to follow it up. Also, if I was being made so unhappy by something, as you are unhappy, I would not be jumping into that situation time and time again. You cannot change the world, as much as you might wish to. You can keep your own corner of it tidy, you can be a responsible human being and report things you see are not right, and you can hope for the best that someone follows it up. You cannot, however, expect everyone to agree with your methods, because they are wrong. Your way of dealing with griefers is making it very much worse, for you, and for other people, especially the newer residents who are arriving in Second Life all the time. And I am disappointed in you, Robert69, for not being mature enough at your age and with your experience in SL. You should know better by now, especially as sticking your head right in the lion's mouth is only getting your face chewed off time and time again.
  14. Give inventory lots of time to load fully. Fingers crossed for you.
  15. The masturbating horse certainly wasn't there while I was there. Is that a regular visitor? Wow you are lucky. I was bored witless while I was there. It really was like being in my local pub. Dull as dishwater.
  16. I think it's possible cache hasn't had time to gather itself together after being cleaned out. I tend to run a console window so I can watch that while my inventory loads, and I'm not tempted then to do anything else until it's all back together again.
  17. Most odd, Charo, but I'm thinking a cache clear will bring it back. I think, with OP saying they've tried different viewers, they've confused the servers/cache somewhat.
  18. I just saw your other comments in the permalinks with Charolotte. You tried Phoenix. This is odd. The folder shouldn't just disappear. Maybe you need to clear your cache, relog into a quiet sim (Furball or Quarrel), and let your inventory slowly fully load. Worth a try ?
  19. Welcome to Second Life Answers, Also, to add to Lindal's great answer, check your internet connection is running ok. If there has been an interrupton in internet connection while SL has been loading, you may get the symptoms you are describing.
  20. If you lose anything in your inventory, including the Received Items folder, just type in the inventory search box what you're looking for, and it should come up again. Remember also you can use filters (see top of that inventory box) to locate items you bought recently.

I dare anyone to visit Ahern Welcome Area and then come back to this fourm and post your findings. http://slurl.com/secondlife/Ahern/8/9/41 While I was there yesterday.. I mentioned the fact it was a PG rated sim.. only to endure abuse.. and I have a video on my Dailymotion channel to prove it. I "dared" to visit Ahern and was there for the best part of an hour. I even went in with voice active (and I rarely have voice switched on). I have never been so bored in my entire SLife, and I will never get that time back. Did I see any griefers while I was there? No I did not. I saw (and heard) the same sort of crowd that I would have seen in any RL venue; a bunch of people chilling out after their respective work days, or some are in their work place having a skive. The language was a bit 'fruity' in places, but I hear worse from 11 year old kids on the bus, and as for adult content, I saw no genitalia, no fetish-wear, no masters dragging slaves around, nothing except quite an average assortment of people, some new, some obviously there just hanging with their regular SL mates. No one was running around calling anyone else "phaggot", no one was pushing anyone else, in fact over half seemed to be in a coma if anything. Maybe they just get excited when they see you there.
  22. A little update - I popped across to the land. Belle's partner doesn't see anything, I don't, so it may be something graphics-wise. OP is obtaining different computer soon, so will test with that and come back to us if problems. Fingers crossed all is ok.
  23. AylaJ wrote: < Thanks Marigold! Oddly enough, I always use Viewer2/3....but had downloaded Firestorm to check it out, then deleted it. There was a Firestorm bridge left - so I deleted it. It is helpful to others who have similar issues. :smileyhappy:
  24. Welcome to Second Life Answer, Cairo To add to Claire and Charo's great answers, if you are wanting to know the going rate for parcels of land on the mainland, you could do worse than explore. Open your world map, check the option to view land for sale, and teleport around all the land that is coloured in yellow. Abandoned parcels are automatically put back for sale now at 1L$ per sq. metre, but some of the older abandoned land goes through the auction process. Land on the original continent seems to go for more, and the Bay City sims are very expensive in comparison. PG-rated sims seem to be the cheapest per sq.m, while land over on Zindra adult continent varies, but seems to be from around 4.5L$ per sq.m. If you wish to add more to this thread, you can do so by clicking on "options" at the top right hand corner of your original post and "edit" to type in more.

I mentioned the fact it was a PG rated sim.. only to endure abuse.. and I have a video on my Dailymotion channel to prove it. I know griefers have been accessing Second Life for YEARS, but you are wrong; Linden Lab and individual residents are not ignoring the problem at all. Why should anyone here visit Ahern welcome area (and how do you know they don't already on a regular basis)? We believe you, we know there are griefers. We know the griefers target newbies, people at welcome areas, linden-owned sandboxes. Why must you continue to set yourself up as a target? Because this is what you are really doing. Is this your way of getting attention? Why do you not understand that YOU are actually making the problems such a lot worse???? In spite of other people having also advised you to STOP FEEDING GRIEFERS, you continue. You are adding fuel to a raging fire, instead of letting it burn out to a smouldering stop. I have been to many live music events in my 4+ years in Second Life. Not once have I witnessed griefer attacks, and I have gone to places where there have been furries, child avatars, people with red hair(!). Why is it that you are so unlucky? The answer is because you encourage the griefers. YOU ARE ENCOURAGING THE GRIEFERS!!!!!! You speak to the griefers, you tell them you are going to report them, you bellow across the sims that there are griefers there. How ridiculous. And this is why you are going to continue to have this problem. I refuse to give you any more attention. I have given you enough, in the form of advice, and it is good advice. I don't get griefed in SL, or in RL. I do not feed griefers, except for you, and you have just had your last meal from me.
