  3. To be sure you have given enough time for your cache to clear, and your inventory to reload, while you are logged in, please go into the Advanced Menu and click on "Show Consoles", then clear cache from your "Preferences", "General", options, and relog into the quiet location. Now, when you log in, you should have a console window running also. You should be able to see what is happening behind the scenes, you'll see everything loading, textures, inventory, etc, and be reassured that all is well. It can take 30 minutes or so for inventory to be fully retrieved from the SL servers (and I'm basing this on my meagre 18,000 inventory, so if you have more, it will take longer of course). Be patient, but if it fails this time, and you see no signs of anything loading in your console window, then it is time for you to submit a support ticket to LL via the "help" options at the top of this screen. I wish you luck.

When I think about it, I don't really think about the 'red top thing'. It just happens... or not. And red is not really my colour, being a redhead in RL and in SL I like purples and dark blues mostly. Coffeeee Cakeeeeee
  5. UncommonTruth wrote: I'm not really sure how that would work. How could anyone prove how many 'buddies' they'd helped? It's a cool idea, and if it could be implimented I'd jump on it lol. I currently have 3 little buddies hanging around my land while they learn the ins and outs here. 2 of them will probably be hopping out of the nest soon lol, the third... well some just need more time ^.^ Then again.. I enjoy helping new people.. I'm not sure how fun it would be if I had a qouta to meet, so maybe I wouldn't want in on that, idk. Interesting idea, so many pros and cons I guess it was pointless for me to post, as I don't have an opinion either way =) I have an image in my head of you living in SL in a rather large bird's nest, with little fledgeling newbies getting ready to leave for the big wide world. Awww. :matte-motes-big-grin-squint:

  7. What Roseysun says is absolutely true, that only the official next-of-kin/executors of someone's estate, can have a deceased person's account closed down, but I can understand how upsetting this must be for you to see their avatar come online, after they've passed on in real life. Do you know the person in real life, or was it a friendship based in Second Life only? As you will be on their friend list, have you attempted to speak to the person? You could just say "hello, Stranger", and see what transpires. It could just be that the people who are dealing with your friend's affairs already knew about Second Life, and have accessed Second Life under this account now, simply because they are grieving for them too, or are just transferring objects over to another account. It is unlikely that your friend's account has been hacked in the illegal accessing meaning of the word, but it does sound like a difficult situation for you. I try to think what I would do in your position, and I think I would actually drop a line to LL, probably via a support ticket, and let them look into the situation. They can use their discretion and God powers to peek in further, see what's really happening.
  8. My new curtains (RL) are pressed and hung and look fabulous - well they're ok. In SL, I have just a 512m parcel on the mainland - no curtains, because SL curtains tend to look crap, and serve no purpose anyway. I must be magnetic, because without even being a buddy, I find that people have clustered around my little housey with their eclectic buildings. I am rarely there. I like to explore the mainland, and the emptier it is, the happier I am - I can pretend it all belongs to me heheheeeeeee. The buddy scheme is a great idea, and unofficially goes on. Lindal on another thread, always offers help with budding builders, directing them to her great building classes. Nyll popped in to help a person on a Linden Home sim with a griefing issue. And many others, who don't even come onto the forums, dip into the welcome areas, Korea, Bear, Violet, and rescue the newbies and take them clothes/skin/shape/AO shopping. The land though, hmmm, Linden Lab must have a bigger scheme in mind. They recently introduced "region idling", so that empty sims could go into a kind of standby mode when there were no avatars present. Maybe they will just condense some mainland sims if they become totally empty. Sims come and go, even mainland ones. I looked around for your other (kudos) thread - it seems to be missing. I wonder what I missed, as I forgot to subscribe to it. I will never know. :matte-motes-frown:
  9. Hello, Ember. On reading your original post, I'd have thought it was an update to your graphics card that was needed too, but as you've added more to your OP and stated you're up-to-date, and on looking again at the useful screenshot you linked to, I'd say it looks more like something you've accidentally clicked on in world, maybe a shortcut of some kind. You look like your graphics are only on a low setting too, so you might want to go into "avatar" "preferences" and check what your graphics level is set at. What kind of memory has your computer got? Have you got a ton of other things running too? Maybe you are overheating.
  10. ... and check your graphics card driver is up-to-date. It might just have been a coincidence that you'd pressed something that seemed to throw everything out of whack.
  11. Welcome to Second Life Answers, aaAnn3aa If someone has rezzed this object on your land, and it is kicking you from your own land, then you can to report it as abuse. How to do this, though if you cannot go on your land? Do this... Teleport to a place maybe a parcel or two away from your land, and use your "alt" and mouse to view the object that is ejecting you... the name of the owner will show up. Click on "help" at the top of the screen and "report abuse", fill in the form and submit it to LL. Or you can just remove the object if you can see it, by teleporting to a place maybe a parcel or two away from your land. Again, use your "alt" and mouse to view the land that your house is on. Right click on the land to open the land details, and use the options there to return all the items that are not your own. When you are able to return to your land, remember to set an "autoreturn" on your land of, say, five minutes. This will prevent anyone from leaving anything on your land.

Then after everything calmed down this girl named jose cant remeber her full name. Said she would banned or get me off me and this other guy that was also fighting me. Then we apolgized so I dont know if this is the issue. Also when I log in it say the simulator was unavaliable so im really not sure what to do im still a '' noob '' or maybe I need to download the new update I dont now...?. Welcome to Second Life Forums, Justin. Crikey, what a tale you tell. Maybe you should keep a diary (a blog maybe) about your adventures and encounters in Second Life. It sounds like you may be in for an interesting time. Anyway, I am sure you will have been able to log in by now, if you have followed Dilbert's excellent suggestion to change your start login location. If you find you are unable to log in at a future time, the Second Life Knowledge Base articles have some very interesting information. This is the link to the section all about "login failure" http://community.secondlife.com/t5/English-Knowledge-Base/Login-failure/ta-p/700109 Remember that you have a right to freedom of speech, any remarks that are directly seen as racism can, and probably will, be reported. Remember also there are some interesting places to visit in Second Life, and while there are a lot of argumentative people, there are also some who wish for a politics free environment. Choose your audience wisely, and maybe you will become one day the President of Second Life. :matte-motes-big-grin:

  17. All kinds of factors can and do often make things in Second Life go haywire. I've seen chickens and horses fly across sims, ghosted avatars piled up at the sim edges, and objects vanish for no apparent reason. Some of these issues can be put down to bugs in the system, often appearing and disappearing during the weekly deploys (Tuesdays and Wednesdays). However, I find it very peculiar that yourhorses have had their groups changed without you doing it. Are you sure your partner or any other group members/friends don't have the ability to modify your objects, derezz and rerezz under the name of another group? I don't think it can be down to the stray horse that you found in your inventory. Other suggestions/advice will follow.
  18. hahaha, I love you really Stormeeee, I just happen to have a lot of this sort of crap in my inventory.
  19. Storm Clarence wrote: Yes, that's my kudo gripe of the day. Did anyone notice that avatars are leaving their Meeroo dumpings all over the sims. I was flying around Hogadon sim yesterday and I got hit right in the face with some (yes, it floats too.) I say clean-up after your Meeroo(s.) Be a good neighbor and carry a Meeroo Scooper with you. Sold only on SLmarketplace. PS There oughta be a law! Yes, it certainly does float. Got some more of it here for ya :matte-motes-big-grin-evil:
  20. They seem to be closing in on me; I see several names on my Phoenix radar list that never go offline when I'm sitting alone in my little house late at night. :matte-motes-agape: I felt brave one time, and ventured out. Regarding them all looking like they're on Viewer 2, even using the older version of Phoenix, they will show up as being Viewer 2, or sometimes as just a question mark. LL stopped the ability for us to be able to see what viewer people were on because of privacy issues (or something - I've slept since then :matte-motes-wink-tongue: ) I've not been around for a while. Been having my bang straight hair permed, and it's taken several weeks to get it just how I like it, but once my hair was A OK, my partner persuaded me to drive us around the old Linden Highways around Route 1 and Route 2, but aside from picking up a friendly hitchhiker we met along the way, and being pulled up by the police, and being fired at by a tank, it was an uneventful journey, and not one *movie star* did we encounter. I don't know how these *movie star* bots impact LL's plans to have 'region idling', which means sims go into some kind of standby mode when there are no avatars actually in them, and of course the sims which only contain a *movie star* bot never go into idle mode. At least it's not like Invasion of the Body Snatchers where we become as one with them :matte-motes-big-grin:
  21. I've got news for you, Stormeee, that's not meeroo poop that keeps flying at ya ! :matte-motes-big-grin: /me once again crouches down at your feet and leaves you a long soft chestnut brown gift.
  22. Clearing cache should definitely help to load your inventory, but when you relog, you do need to do so into a quiet location - I use Furball or Quarrel when I have similar issues, and this usually does happen after an interruption in connection. So, change your start location, log into a quiet sim, open your inventory, and what else you can do is go into the Advanced menu and test character. This is a drastic thing to do, but it will reset your avatar, and your inventory will force load. But please do give your inventory plenty of time to fully load before teleporting out, or doing anything else. Please return to your thread, and let us know how you get along, or if you need any further advice.
  23. Welcome to Second Life Answers. It sounds like the system thinks you are still wearing a layer of something. Go into your inventory and see what you are wearing. If nothing is obvious, then remove everything. Slide a whole new outfit onto yourself. Please let us know the results, good or bad, by clicking on "options" at the top right hand corner of your post here on this thread, and select "edit" to type in more information. Other answers may follow, so do keep returning.
