  1. That's really no different from before. That you may have gotten extensive tutorials puts you among some rarer crowd. Most of us just landed on help island. Today's such island is at least a directed tour. From there we end up anywhere, and that can very well be some adult place or some store or whatever. Most people used to go from the tutorial / help island place to an infohub picked from a destination screen there, if anywhere. Now they go from the orientation island to some random plot picked from the screen there, and get an infohub set as their home. The difference is... not really existent. Some people used to land in community gateways and go through a tutorials, then get an infohub as their home but be able to leave to some destination chosen from a screen at that community gateway. Today some people still do this, but not as many as its not one of the choices when making an account - you have to have been told to do it and how ahead of time. But the difference between the best of those tutorials; perhaps Caledon, and the official Orientation Island - while significant in design is not really teaching much more. Its just more thourough. I would still argue its a matter of perspective.
  2. This so-called market doesn't exist without a purpose. Take a half second to think about that. Why is there your so-called market? Because people buy things to socialize and play with each other. This is only about ideologies in the mind of one person here, and that person isn't me. And throwing out wild claims of socialism and furry conspiracies really doesn't strengthen one's argument.
  3. Peewee Musytari wrote: Check the price per sqm that other plots on the same sim or nearby sims with the same sort of set up, are being sold for. That is usually the best guide for the value of land in your own neighbourhood. Actually I find that to be a bad indicator. If you can find lots on a sim for sale at a given price, they're for sale still because they're overpriced...
  4. You only lose the account if you let it lapse. If you want to leave premium just tier down and then switch an account to basic. My 2006 account used to be premium, and is no more - I went basic on it. You need to of course get rid of any land you own when doing so. Very easy, very simple process. If you've been around since 2005 you would know.
  5. Its worth about 0.5L/sqm unless its worth more. More is a factor of location and the neighbors. Do the neighbors want it bad, does someone want to live next to one of those neighbors? Does one of the neighbors have a blighted build (in which case your land is worth even -less- as no human will buy it and you're stuck pricing for a bot)? If you have water or a road it might be worth more. But some roads are poorly designed and lower land values. Others triger adfarmers and blighty builds (see the sim Fietzo where I lived until early 2010 - my old lot has since been taken over by 3 separate adfarmers - each having their own individual placing so they can stay in ToS - but the effect is the land around it is not likely to sell to anyone with any sense). Water and infohubs tend tend to be the best predictors of value increase. Land with water that is protected and has a view that cannot be blighted is premium in value - but even unprotected water can boost the price if the lot is the one that has control over destruction of the water (see Pruni - all along the north side of the road the landowners there can raise or lower their land to create a very deep river, and some have destroyed theirs, whereas last time I looked several month ago others had not yet done so - buying the land on the north side of that road would let you have water and road land if you liked hills). Hills... Land that cannot be made flat is worth more than land that can, and both are worth more than land that -is- falt. But flat land sells better... This is just a weird thing: very few people like "Protected hills" but the ones who do won't stand for anything else... Protected hills are the most expensive lots in all of mainland - they're very rare, and you could easily get to know most of the people who own or want one. Half the owners of them though... got them through I don't know what means... and will rez giant megaprim blocks to make the lots flat... so by contrast protected hill next to an owner of such a hill piece that doesn't actually like the hill has a lower value as a hill lover will consider that flat square to be blight. And the exceptions to the 0.5 rule go on and on...
  6. Marlette Malachite wrote: It would be great if it was just a matter of finding a place with the right maturity rating; the problem we are having is finding any nudist places at all that are non-human friendly Yes what Marlette said. The two examples I gave above are on M land. It seems nudist clubs are the last places in SL that won't even allow nekos, let alone furries. Or if they do allow furries, won't allow nekos and humans...
  7. Mila Edelman wrote: Yeah, I'm noticing an increasing number of new users who have no idea about what's going on (even with some really basic movement tools). When I joined, we were dropped at some help place. We had to go through a tutorial thing before we could do anything else. Its not that there are more of them, but that 'we' are no longer among them. I got dropped into help island too, and it still took me a day to figure out how to TP out, and a long time to figure out assorted things about the UI, building, moving about, preferences, and so on. Its easier to forget how confusing it was when you started the further you get from that point.
  8. Ishtara Rothschild wrote: The Wet Kitty comes to mind, a dance club owned by the illustrious Friggin Kitty (I love that name). Partial or complete nudity is strongly encouraged, and the only rule is "no male avatars". But the Wet Kitty has images of nude men with breasts on the walls, and has a chair on the dance floor that runs a 'self pleasuring' animation... So its a bit of an X-rated place and not exactly a nudist place.
  9. Here's typical of the problem I'm facing finding some spots: Seeking SL-nudist hangouts that actually require nudity that do -NOT- have something like the two examples below in their rules... Both of those places would be problems for nekos that wore leg/arm paws, or a hybrid like a Faun or mermaid or fairy. And they're rules obviously would get furries. Its a problem of extremes... the only places that seem to allow for furries tend to ban humans, and vice versa... not much middle ground that says everybody come on over and hangout? Where's the place a neko or hybrid would feel comfortable? And if you're a neko who sometimes goes furry... Considering putting together a blog on this if I can find at least 3 to 5 examples of mixed scenes. Here are my two examples of what seems typical from using Search. Looking for nudist places gives me these, and porn-clubs... (which is frustrating). *****Resort #1*********** 6) ONLY HUMAN AVATARS. No animals, cyborgs or other creature avatars or appendages. Skin and shape must be human - ............................................................................................................................................................... NO NON-HUMAN AVATARS. Head, Body, Skin and shape must be fully human The line is drawn as follows - If a body part is an "ADDITION" it is allowed, if it is "REPLACING" any visible human body part it is NOT allowed. If we allow so much as one body part that is not human, we open the door to every possible shape or form in second life, the beach will then become a circus. We want to keep it simple. (see "Allowed stuff" above) Allowed: Skin Tattoos, and markings, as long is its an attached layer on top of a normal skin ************* (What do they mean by that? I can have spots if its in the tattor layer, but not baked into the skin?) *****resort #2*********** Restrictions: - Human avatars only. No werewolves, cyborgs, animals or other creature avatars, no furries or tinies and no other non-human forms or appendages. ****************************************************************************************** (So I think #2 would even ban neko tails and ears.)
  10. I don't know if she still has it, but the Furry maker 'AnthroXtacy' had/has a box for 1L that includes a lot of her older furry designs. They're only 1/10th as good as her current stuff, but that's still leagues ahead of most free furry avatars. If I recall right, it included an earlier phoenix design, and some canines, and one other bird like creature. The phoenix was not bad, though her current phoenix is just flat out amazing (albeit 'feral' and not furry like her old one - for an amazing furry phoenix you have to go to Tokushi - who only makes PG avatars so they're not as 'popular' in the furry 'night clubs' despite being better than most of what you see. You'll find them on the grid a lot, but not in the 'yiff' places that come up in search - and maybe that's a good thing). Female avatars have some 'issues' in SL. Often way to tall and stretched, or with giant bubble-butts. Males often have the 'Bug Bunny Cartoon Human' look going with the giant pecs and the teenie tiny hands and legs... - For human avatars the commercial market is often worse than the freebie market. But at the same time the freebie market never comes even close to the better items in the commercial market. But you have to really search to find those better items. My general rule of thimb with marketplace if that if the item is in the promotions / featured list, its probably low quality goods. With any of them, you've got to see a version of it inworld before you buy. That's helped me avoid some skins with issues before, and also caused my final selection to be one that I'd almost passed over for a not so great listing on marketplace... (I don't have any human alts, but I have some critters that use a human skin for part of their look, like my Faun).
  11. Fennet wrote: Yesterday I hit the jackpot of freebie avatar collections, and promptly spent several hours trying on Furries, (yuck!), Furry avatars have a wide range of quality. Look at some of the reviews here: http://www.slarf.org/ The free ones are often free for a reason, and its usually not a good reason when it comes to furries.
  12. Just tell them and tell them why. Especially if they're newer residents. A lot of those poor noobs are running around on purchased shaped made by "merchants" who have 'anatomy comprehension impairment disability syndrome' ( ) The noobs often know they look inhuman, but figure that's just SL's brand of cartoon. And eventually if you don't catch them, they buy into this distortion as the 'SL standard'. So just tell dem 'girl; you is wack.' Followed by suggestions on how to fix it.
  13. I'll pass on what I get once I start to get to some to those interested. So far what I've gotten appears to be furry only, but hopefully somebody out there has a mixed scene nudist dancing hangout.
  14. Seeking SL nudist dance clubs; Looking for places where I can take my avatar and be undressed, and not be the only one. A place where its mandatory or heavily encouraged to be undressed. But -not- an escort joint / A-entertainment place. A place where I can come in neko form, or on some other non-human AV (Though my furries tend to be PG, I would prefer a place that let furries in as well). But where humans are still allowed. IE: If it bans -any of- humans, nekos, or furries its not the place I'm looking for. And preferrably one that either bans gestures (especially sound gestures) or heavily discourages them - especially when they come from the DJ and play over the darn music). With dance music, hip hop, reggae, salsa - or something one can more than head bang at. :) Posting the actual places may or may not be allowed under the current forum rules... not sure. If so, just send me someinworld info (in a form that doesn't look like spam - I tend to block all those random spammy invite notecards) :)
  15. I see this in SL videos all the time but I've never figured out how to do it. Is it possible to have the camera stay was it was relative to as I move rather than pivoting to behind me the moment I hit any motion or turning keys? So if I'm currently to my right and looking at my AV, I could walk and still have my view to the right and looking at my AV as both her and the camera went forward?

IMO the bounce/sway there looks ridiculous and wrong. These values are for Breast Mass 0 and Breast Gravity 31, Breast Drag 84 (in the Advanced Parameters section). I left Belly and Butt at their defaults (Mass 0, Gravity 0, Drag 30). I really wish some Torley...er... Linden lab employee would make a good guide on that one, explaining EXACTLY what the sliders do ~g~ I tried those settings and my boobs looked like they were in an anime inspired earthquake - while I was standing still. So I cut the first two of breast bounce to 23, and put greast mass up to 100, which gave pronounced effect, so I cut mass down to 20 and then adjusted up and down until it was just right. Still adjusting belly - my AO sits and stands a lot, and when it does or when I walk your numbers make me look like Santa... and I have a flat thin belly - but it bounces a good meter up and down.

  18. Typically the waterways are better taken care of than the roads. Adspammers and tacky shops like to line up along the roads, but on the waterways they tend to keep clear. I rather like my pieces of mainland - of course they're built to my tastes. But everyone's tastes vary.
  19. I kept wondering why when teen grid first went to mainland I could never TP to any lots that were up for sale or auction. I noticed the forced landing points - but it seemed so absurd that linden land would have those that I just mentally assumed it was a glitch. So put me in the camp of people who think that needs to go away. For people who don't want strangers TPing around their own lots - put in a TP landing on your own lot somewhere. Right now you can already TP in to any private lot on Bay City - the problem only exists with the public land. If you don't want ban lines route to 1000m up inside of a 10m box with no holes out. Even for those crafty enough to get out without TPing away - it sends the message pretty clearly.
  20. Those parts of linden land where they're not supposed to be have object entry turned off. For the rest of Linden Land, its for shared public use - for use by all residents. Kinda socialist that way - sharing that is, the Christian thing to do - but there you have it. If they want these cars stopped a simple toggle in land settings on the roads will smack them out of existence. If they have gotten more exessive than they used to be, then AR that aspect of them. Just make specific logs of when and where a bunch have been seen, snapshot it, AR it, and send a notecard off to some Linden you know with the snapshots and a reference to you having filed the AR at 'X' time. Because while we all should share the public goods of SL, excess is still excess when and where it exists. If the maker of them needs some roadside spots ot rez them still, I might consider hosting the rezzing device on my A lot - since I've yet to see those cars on A land.
  21. Luc Starsider wrote: Pauline Darkfury wrote: The thing is, while the ToS is written as black and white (it needs to be), that's only part of the overall picture. Some sections of ToS can't ever be ignored or violations tolerated (e.g. criminal activity, IP rights infringement, inappropriate content under maturity policy, privacy issues, harassment, griefing, etc). Other parts of ToS are really only there as a last resort for when common sense, tolerance, negotiation, and cooperation have failed. Encroachment falls into the second category, the ToS really only becomes relevant if someone has crossed into being malicious about it (or if they just fail to respond or cooperate). Mainland needs a bit of give and take, negotiation, and cooperation between neighbours, the areas which have that are much better for it. Could you provide a link to where the information is posted that describe what parts are not to be ignored and what parts are to be taken lightly? I'm very interested in knowing this. - Luc - It appears to just be that person's personal preference. Really the issue's not worth debating when there's only one voice on the other side and so support for their position in any of the rules.
  22. In Milu sim just across the road from my home is a 'pregnancy store' run by some guy who keeps a stack of 4 to 10 bots on his lot 24/7. They're hidden in a house on the hill, in the shop, or in a sphere up at 4000m parked right next to where I used to have my skybox before he moved the bots in. How can I find out if they're allowed scripted agents or bots? His traffic tends to be in the 4,000 - 20,000 range despite none of us neighbors ever having seen live customers (and I know the names of most of the bots so I know when somebody who's not one of them shows up) - so I suspect they're traffic bots. What can I do about this, and what is the likely impact to my sim's performance of such a setup? (EDIT: Today his traffic is very low, so I adjusted my number above.)
  23. EDIT: oops, I'm late and you've posted that you've done more or less what I suggested. This used to happen to me a lot when I lived in Fietzo. In the adjacent sim is a shop that rents traffic bots (many times AR'd) to boost your traffic, as well as offers services to game your results in SL search (if I recall properly - but this part might not have been them). They would park the excess avatars on my sim often in the early days of my time there - until I started commenting about them and posting pics. Either that or something else got to eventually dissapear. My suggestion would be to buy a security orb (Hippo makes a good one) and set it up at the height they've been showing up. Then make sure your land / land group doesn't have anyone but you and your alts in it and that other people can't set that land as home. Set the Orb to a 1 second warning, but limited to inside your land, and to send people home. Read its logs (I don't know if Hippo logs or not) - and add the bots to the ban list once they've each been booted - which should help keep them out if they have the lot set as home due to being associated with a previous owner or something.

  25. As Blondin said Luskwood is probably one of the ideal spots to start with Furries. There are -many- furry places in SL, and what seems to be two distinct types of furries: those in the adult-content scene and those not. The first group is much more social so you can find their venues a lot faster. The presence of the first group seems to have somehow kept many in the second group from being as social and outgoing as we could be. But Luskwood seems to get the full range from time to time. It does have its own 'in crowd' and from my trips there breaking into the crowd is not by invite - you'd have to speak up and make yourself part of the scene. I also tell just about every new furry in SL to visit http://www.slarf.org/ and research avatar choices. You're also welcome to IM me. But don't random friend me without an IM or I won't have any idea who you are. I get one of those every now and then while offline and find myself confused trying to figure out where I met the person (there's one in my email right now and yeah - who is that? I dunno). I -LOVE- exploring around with people and showing people different places I've found.
