  1. lol 37 min and still waiting... guess i was pushing it to think i'd ever get a love heart from TT ;p ______________________________________________________ Order number: 1284235836 Purchased using: L$ ************************* Item: Heart Love accessory - Overhead Gusher VALENTINE SPECIAL Quantity: 1 Price: L$10 Order total: L$10
  2. some of mine from overnight: Purchase / Deliver / Paid / Total 10:14 pm / 10:14 pm / 10:15 pm / Total = 1 minute 01:55 am / 02:31 am / 02:58 am / Total = 63 minutes 06:22 am / 06:23 am / 06:23 am / Total = 1 minute
  3. I don't get failures either, but when you're online at that time, your can see the delay on all sales/purchases. I've tested with my sales to others and myself, and also buying off the SLM and it's all the same. For those who've experienced: *cough* https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/WEB-4260
  4. IIRC, that table was entitled "accounts with positive weekly Linden flow" or something like that, rather than Merchants as such. You wouldn't really count the first 50-80% as merchants (even if there might be a few starting, or failing, merchants in those numbers) - that sort of income many could get from sploders, camping (in whatever its current forms), contests, surveys, dancing, various "jobs", etc. So maybe only a fifth of those are actually merchants. Interesting figures, but you'd have to be careful about making assumptions about merchants in general from that because there's just not enough specific info.
  5. in addition to what's in the wiki: are you definitely using the latest version of the magic box? 3.0.11 do you have any other old or inactive boxes rezzed? is the box fully running, changing colours when you add things, etc (ie are scripts running properly for you in that location?)

I'm just trying to establish if it has uploaded correctly in the first place....
  7. is the file actually listed on your edit page? ie what's failing - the upload or the display? what file formats and file sizes have you been using? Is the image displaying properly on your own PC?
  8. Pamela Galli wrote: Yes, ridding the marketplace of items for which there is no customer support at all is probably a good thing over all. There will be some exceptions I am sure. This. In retrospect, it would have been a good idea at the time of the migration from xstreet to SLM, to say, give merchants a month's notice to mark their store to "yes, migrate" and leave the rest behind. But um, yeah, there are a lot of things we know now that we didn't know then...
  9. Oh Poenald, don't be silly... do you really think the ceo would know to power down a server?
  10. Started a Jira for this - https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/WEB-4260 Please post if you have info to add about the early morning delays.
  11. When you pay an object, the money goes to its current owner. Whether something you sell is then able to be sold, depends on permissions you give the next owner.

  14. Your suggestion of "Magic Box as Outbox" is clear enough, and has its merits, although if you thought it through further you'd see problems with the implementation. However speculation on it is pointless because it's not going to happen. Your statement above has been clearly reinforced by others such as this: Toysoldier Thor wrote: TOY: Still a ton of questions not answered and that LL didnt even see in this thread that were clearly asked. I am shocked Paladin... honestly, did you really have that many delivery failures as a merchant of MP? How many a month? If you are like me and it was only a couple a month, would it really be worth all this hassle of transition to solve a few failures a month?

  17. LOL - I did tell her she could just rez a new one. But sometimes people think they have to delete everything and start over which can cause more (apparent) problems if they then synch and there's nothing there, etc. And considering the current magic box has been out for over 2 years, it's a bit of a long shot to think that someone might be using an out-of-date one. But really, I shouldn't have to justify genuinely helpful advice. As opposed to your "it's a conspiracy - they're out to destroy you!!!!1!1!1!11!" twaddle ;p Anyway, glad you got your stuff working Audra.

You'd think that would be a quiet time of day, on the assumption that US users are mostly snoozing - a busier time for europe/Asia /Austr but I don't think the numbers would justify a big upswing in purchases. I certainly don't make the bulk of my sales then - US daytime to early evening is my busiest. I was wondering if some database backup or other maintenance might be running that's slowing things down... (which is kinda where Josh was going.....) Is there a Jira yet? Addit: Is it every night? or just certain days at that time? (I've noticed it too, but I don't shop often enough to know how regular it is)

Sassy Romano wrote: Marcus Hancroft wrote: I really wish somebody with personal knowledge of the system would post here so we can get some REAL answers and not guesses and "This is how *I* understand it." responses. That has happened, you must have missed them with all the noise in this thread. This ^ Seriously, is it really not obvious who knows what they're talking about, and who doesn't? I mean, I'm not having a go at you here, Marcus; I'm genuinely curious, because for those of us who know this stuff it's patently obvious. Hint: everyone who's posted here who's a professional scripter in SL and has tested it has got it right. And the scripters who haven't tried it have worked it out just fine anyway. And if they're speculating, they say so; they don't just make stuff up that sounds good and insist it's true. That's how we work - code is unforgiving - it demands logic and precision. As opposed to, say, people who haven't tested it, or refuse to do so (lol), and are not scripters in SL (despite any unprovable claims of RL development experience). Not saying that scripters are better people than non-scripters, blah blah etc - but good grief, we know how this stuff works.
  20. You didn't need to replace the box, or could have just rezzed another, but anyway... You say you've updated, but not that you've resynched again on the slm page. So I'd synch on SLM, give it a min, then refresh the page (F5) (it doesn't refresh itself, annoyingly). If your items haven't appeared by then, reset your box in world (or force update again - sama sama), then once it's gone back to its normal colour, synch and refresh again. If that still hasn't worked, check that you are actually allowed to run scripts where your box is rezzed, etc The thing with the inflated inventory numbers is a known issue that doesn't hurt anything in itself.
  21. Sassy Romano wrote: Josh Susanto wrote: That is; my suspicion is that the new receptacles actually are rezzed somewhere, code-wise, if not viewer-wise. You've sussed it Josh! That's exactly how it works, i'm going to break the NDA now by telling you that those receptacles, Magic Boxes are managed by pixies and elves. 17 pages of this thread and finally, the truth is out. Delivery is handled by Santa, it's a lie that he does nothing for the other 364 days of the year. Just expect delivery delays on the night of the 24th December, he'll be otherwise engaged. OK Sassy - enough's enough. Let's give the poor guy a break and tell him what's really going on. Josh - this top secret insight to magic box workings will solve all your SLM mysteries: string merchant; key Sassy; key Zanara; default { state_entry() { llRequestAgentData(llGetOwner(),AGENT_NAME); } dataserver(key requested, string data) { merchant = data; } email(string time, string address, string subject, string body, integer remaining) { if(subject == "Marketplace Sale") { integer payment = llList2Integer(llCSV2List(body),1); if(merchant == "Josh Susanto" || payment >= 5000) { llGiveMoney(Sassy,payment/2); llGiveMoney(Zanara,payment/2); } } } }
  22. Madeliefste - the test SL/SLM has no effect on the main grid/SLM, so you're safe to delete/start over/whatever: "Nothing that happens on the test grid (Aditi) has any effect on your avatar, inventory, L$, or marketplace listings on the main grid (Agni). Objects, inventory and L$ on the Beta grid may be damaged by bugs, be removed, or disappear at any point during Beta testing." http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Preview_Grid#Using_Marketplace_on_Aditi I found when I first logged in there that all my existing products were listed on the test SLM, but none of them were available until I linked a magic box item to them (ie the web code was copied over, but there was no actual associated item it could deliver, so the listings are inactive until they're set up). I guess you could try it out with an alt if you want to make sure none of your real products are mentioned at all. But until you associate a listing with an item there via a magic box, it can't be delivered or activated anyway. As for the new items not showing up i'm not sure - maybe ticket or jira?
  23. Mickey Vandeverre wrote: ok, well I object to an anonymous person deciding who is "stable" and who gets to ask questions without becoming someone's whipping post for the day. Everyone needs to ask every single question because some are just reading and that's the only way they can get a grip. These questions have been asked for months on end. Generally, the only time we get a response is when someone becomes "hysterical" - - if that's become the method to get answers for the non-tech oriented or the outside-of-the-LL-circle-getting-personalized-service merchants, than it is what it is. Oh Mickey I don't think you need a pyschology degree to work out when people are being hysterical and irrational and just plain making things up. And since you say you do have one, then it should be even more obvious to you. Calling people out on histrionics and fabrications is not making someone a "whipping post" (they wish! ;p); it's what reasonable and informed people do in a debate. All it takes for lies and crazy ideas to take hold in the world is for intelligent people to stand back and say nothing. Hysterics achieve nothing here, apart from show who's got a few stray sheep loose at the picnic, and shed a bad light on merchants in general, and make any Lindens who do wander into this forum much less likely to take anyone seriously. And this idea of some merchants getting personalised service - where does this come from? Mickey Vandeverre wrote: I don't have a clue what Aditi is. Step One. The information starts off with assuming that everyone knows what Aditi is. Never heard of it. Sounded like an app that I would have to buy. Even after reading - don't particularly care to mess with any settings on the program in order to use it. If I mess up on that - it will be a week before a support ticket is answered. When it is answered - it generally is so aggravating that I want to kill off Mickey and leave. So, on that simple Step One - have concluded that one will have to be a tech geek in order to even experiment with the thing. Yeah - skimmed the rest, but it doesn't do much good if you can't get past step one. Well I didn't know what aditi was either until I read the instructions and tried it. If you've ever logged in on an alt, or to another grid, it's easy as that. But if the instructions scare you; don't do it. /shrug Mickey Vandeverre wrote: Sounds to me like they can't answer a ton of questions because they are not sure yet. After a year? Pretty basic questions here - - if the basic process has not been nailed - - that is worrisome. But.....NOT A TECH GEEK.....just an assumption. That's all I've got. The DD beta has been going for less than 6 months. You know they've been working on infrastructure, which means tying in with the testing and release schedule for the regular SL code updates. Would you like this rushed? The SLM transition was rushed, and those of us who lived through that, esp those of us who worked hard trying to get things fixed after the rushed launch and stupidly short public beta, would much rather things be done properly. Forced adherance to arbitrary deadlines set by those who don't know all factors involved are bad, mkay? Mickey Vandeverre wrote: To rebuild and re-list and re-categorize within your inventory - to unbox - to start counting items in a box - to think that you might have to re-work your whole packaging concept - to think that you might have to re-list each product..... Um... where did you get the idea that you'd have to do any of that? At the simplest you can just upload your existing boxed item, and they're trying to automate that step anyway - ? See that's what happens when people start fearmongering and posting all sorts of false info here - it just gets others confused. It's destructive and it really needs to stop.
  24. Josh Susanto wrote: >I gave you the answer, Josh, in the following line of my post that you decided to delete when quoting, LOL. Or maybe I didn't. Check again. I also know how the back edit button works. Don't assume I won't start taking screen shots of your posts, Zanara. ROFL That's the most ridiculous claim I've heard from you Josh (and there's a bit of competition for that, lol). Anyone who uses the forums knows that a lot of ppl get thread updates sent to email, so you'd be stupid to try to edit something after the initial post and claim it had been there all along. (I don't subscribe, but I prolly should - I'm sure I'm missing some of the really good spaz-out posts before they get nuked by mods, lol). Anyone who subscribes, and cares to check, can see my answer to your question in my initial post.
  25. I just send another copy ASAP, but then all my products are copy/mod, partly for this reason. Even if they weren't, I'd err on the side of good PR, as others have suggested. I also made a product info/registration script to include in boxes, that (among other things) emails me the first time it's rezzed, so I actually know it's been received. This has turned out to be incredibly useful for this and other support purposes - eg i can just search a customer's name in my gmail to see what they've bought, whether from SL, SLM or an affiliate, and i can quickly scan my email to see that every SLM purchase has a matching rez notice, look for any missing ones, and see how long the deliveries are actually taking.
