  2. As someone who already runs a number of servers I would love to be able to do that, as a SL user however I would hate for people to be able to do this as it introduces so many problems... connection issues caused by slow connections on servers, bad performance caused by cheaper or overloaded servers etc.

Private Group rentals are rentals which have a dedicated group for just that parcel. This means you get higher permissions than normal and more privacy. All rental boxes for private group rentals can be found at our office here: http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Nautilus - Elissa/230/137/23 Great reasons to rent from us All Rentals come with a money back guarentee! 4. I actually clicked the thread thinking that is what they meant.
  5. 10240m (80x128m) 3515 prim parcel at the edge of the sim with unblockable views for L$2375/week with no restrictions. The land is in a private group (no other tenants in the group) giving you the highest permissions. Group invites are automatic as soon as the rental meter is paid and all prims can be returned once you have joined the group. The land is at http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Doesburg/65/36/24 and the rental box is at http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Nautilus - Elissa/238/138/29.
  6. I could see someone possibly bidding on land because they see someone they dislike wants it however I agree, I would much rather know who is bidding because I regularly get land put up for auction and if I knew a neighbor (or someone who owns land in the region) wants it, I wouldn't bid on it. I can always find land somewhere else.
  7. Please explain how you came to the conclusion that you often don't get landscaping rights also not being able to join or divide parcels is limited a very select areas of Mainland. There are also rules on mainland, the rules set by LL which apply to Estates too. Sure Estates can have further rules imposed but guess what, they don't all enforce extra rules. Get stuck with a neighbor you don't like on an estate and it's up to the estate manager to sort it out, if they don't want to then you are stuck with them just like anywhere else. Clearly you've had an issue with a specific landlord however not all mainland rentals are like this. Mine for example (PS don't take this as self promotion, I am just using mine as an example as I am most familiar with my own) have automatic group invites set up so you can rez right after you start renting. A number of my rentals are set up with individual groups so that no one else renting can come and return your objects, rez on your land or change anything. As for landscaping, all my rentals allow landscaping where the region allows it. All my rentals are charged weekly not monthly, I don't demand anyone to pay monthly and the few who have asked about paying monthly I have told all rentals are weekly due to the different number of days in months. I've never evicted someone before their rent ran out (aside from evicting with a refund upon request) and I have never sold land that was being rented by someone. Just because you had bad experiences with a specific landlord doesn't mean all mainland rentals are bad.
  8. This is why: I don't have the numbers on hand but only full regions allow access to the full 20ms.
  9. TIL Monthly premium price changed.
  10. There does seem to be a growing Japanese population though (based on what I have seen around the grid a lot of places are now owned by Japanese members but it may just be a bias towards the areas I checked).
  11. In Metaverse, no one can hear you scream.
  12. As I said earlier in this thread: There are numerous studies to back up this claim as well.
  13. That's what I keep saying, but as I've also said sniping is not practical or possible for all users. I for example cannot be online when auctions are ending.
  14. Unfortunately all you can do is place a high bid and hope for the best. In theory your bid should have been the maximum you would pay for that land. If someone else snips the land with a higher bid at the last moment it should be a bid higher than what you want to pay for the land so they win and you don't pay more than you want to. In practice however most would not place a bid as high as the maximum they want to pay and they will continue to outbid other people towards the end in order to win the auction.
  15. Unfortunately for some (me included) it's basically impossible to be on for the end of auctions though so my only option is to place an early bid
  16. Yes, your LOD is set to 4 because your place is so badly built that it requires LOD 4. View distance also has nothing to do with how bad your place looks. If you require a view distance above 128m to make your place look good, you are doing something wrong.
  17. Oh, I know my bench isn't that great and the area around it isn't much better (I have a few random boxes lying around, and a few things floating that shouldn't be there. The textures I've used aren't the best either). I'm not sure what causes the water issue I described above but this is what it looks like to me: Your parcel has a LI capacity of 12600, you have used almost all of it. Is this all on the ground floor like I suspect? I visited your place and I was lagging, likely due to the large number of objects in such a small space. Furthermore I'm seeing characters from: Winnie the Pooh Micky Mouse Dumbo The Little Mermaid Frozen Aladin Mary Poppins Alice in Wonderland Tarzan The Lion King Mulan Star Wars Inside Out Peter Pan Just to name a few. How many of these do you own the rights to or have obtained permission from the IP owner to use? None? Then why should anyone offer you discounted tier.
  18. Except the person that owned that building didn't pay that much for the land, in fact they didn't own the land at all. That user was renting the land for L$400/week which isn't more than other random places of a similar size/prim allowance.
  19. One of my parcels is open to public and has a park bench on it. Discount please LL?
  20. This has since been removed FYI. Also the cost of that land is nothing compared to buying somewhere such as Bay City.
  21. Sure but by entering your maximum bid early you are encouraging the price to go higher so by placing my "maximum bid" early I am likely to pay more than if I place it towards the end of the auction. The whole "maximum bid" system is designed around getting a higher sale price by making listings look more interesting (higher number of bids/bidding activity) and make people think there is more interest in the parcel than there really is causing late bidders to bid higher as they believe the parcel is more desirable. It also gives other bidders more time to react to your bid and determine if they want to increase their maximum bid to beat yours. It is NEVER a good idea to place an early bid.
