  1. Oh, ok, I think it became a thing because of anime. They (users of this type of child/adult avatar) wanted a more realistic looking child head than the anime ones. It's a progression of anime into real child face and it has a lot to do with the skin and shaper. To me, it seems the biggest seller in SL because it's always there in what people are buying now. Will it gain the potential of acceptability overall as cool? I don't know. I'm not in the slex scene or mating or dating scene anyways. Just 3D chatting and having fun or even sharing a feeling is what's for me.
  2. I think it has something to do with "anime" which is Asian cartoon in origin. Sexualized children, basically. However, there are some "anime's" who may make their body look like an alien or something rather than an adult hyper-sexualized woman. I don't find it "so cool". It's an avoid to me. Age of avatars may have to do with their hooman vanity at it's roots. The hooman's are very vain. Dinkies and Tinies like to look nice also but are not as obsessed with the vanity of it all. We don't care if you wear a paper sack on your head, frankly. It's how you treat others that matters.
  3. Yesh. And, I'd suppose others may think the non-hoomans are weird. The thing with the Dinkies and Tinies of the Shire is age is not a factor as we have no agenda other than we are interacting in a 3-D virtual chat room with others whom may become friends but it's not a big commitment friendship type of thing. It's more like had a great time, see you soon, real life comes first kind of thing. Age, for Dinkies and Tinies I've never thought of once. This would have been a more interesting question in relation to mmos or mmorgs would be in regards to the non-hooman almost all of whom approach another with no agenda whatsoever. It's an interesting dynamic how that changes from human to non-human here in SL anyways where one can actually run a hooman avatar. Many phone "games" cannot run hooman form well if at all.
  4. I think the average human avi looks 30 something but I don't know why it would matter what I thought? However, that thing where the body is 25 and the face is about 5 years old is gaining popularity in the 'what are people buying now' area on MP. Gag me with a spoon about that. It's the one thing in SL I really detest. The 5 year old faces on adult bodies. I'll stay wiff the Dinkies and Tinies of the Shire, thanks anyways about the hoomans but no thanks.
  5. I am not sure if you think you or I or anyone needs to "own" land in order to set home here. If you are thinking that, it isn't true. You can rent a home, skybox, apartment, tent, whatever to live in and set home here. You do not have to own land to have a home and set home here. Search cheap rentals or rentals to find a home or place to rent. Learn to refine your search such as 'rental 50 prims unfurnished' for an example. Type in search what you are looking for and give keywords is what i am saying. And, you can be a free account and rent a place and set home here. Free accounts can rent places to live. And, you do not need to own any land to rent either. You can create a landmark for your rental home also on a free account.
  6. You can rent a tiny apartment for as low as 10 linden a week and set home there. Average for cheap rentals may be about 25 linden a week. I've never owned land, I've always rented places by searching "cheap rentals". But, yes, as the person said above, there are some nice places to set your home for free. The thing is changing. If you want a quiet and cheap place to change clothes, try on demos, etc...search "cheap rentals". As I said, some as low as 10 linden a week, which is pennies. And, then once you pay the rental box, you click "set home here".
  7. Many of these are gorgeous but I tend to the non-traditional (but definitely not the x-rated one above, no not that one) so my favorite are the fabric rainbow little trees I am making right now. They are little trees because I am a Dinkie cat. I haven't finished them yet. I have mostly had the hand-crafted, non-traditional trees that were Gachas. This one might be my favorite, other than the ones I am making... I think the one below is about 8 prims. https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/108f8-Grannys-Winter-Cottage-Christmas-Tree/13873582
  8. If you want just the smoke you need to look for a script. Most smoke scripts on MP are way too strong though, so your best bet might be to group chat with someone in Builder's Brewery or Happy Hippo (both building schools) and see if anyone has a light smoking or cigarette smoking script they can help you with. Working with scripts is very easy, if someone has a smoke script you like, you'd just drag and drop the smoking script into the CONTENTS area of the cigarette. Or you'd make a small invisaprim and attach that to the tip of the cigarette and that small invisiprim at the top of the cigarette is where the smoke comes out and where you'd place the script - in the tip only.
  9. I see. What I really, really don't like though is when my avatar is "trapped" upon stand, and it's not silly, it can be emotionally upsetting to be trapped. The legs start to wiggle trying to find a way out of certain objects. The legs wiggle for awhile like the avatar is trapped, and that has the possibility of scaring some newbies also, that "trapped" exit from sit to stand where the avatar is struggling like it's trapped in a force field. So, putting some items on phantom is a good idea, at least it gets rid of trapping the avatar. Couldn't you rez phantom cars but the ones on the showroom floor are not phantom? Is there any way to improve STAND itself? A question just to anyone in general. Edit: What it would really need for STAND is to change it to STAND FRONT, STAND BACK, STAND LEFT, STAND RIGHT, and move the avatar and that sounds expensive.
  10. I just tried putting two chairs and one table on phantom and then standing and one can unsit gracefully and go right into their AO. The trick is the chairs have to be turned at an angle as if it's a table for two and they are looking at a view for example. If the chairs are facing the table, the avatar goes forward thru the table to the chair opposite, so it only works for chairs turned at an angle. But, I was wondering, what is inconvenient about setting a car to phantom? I don't have anything ridable, so I can't try it. If I can sit on a phantom chair, why couldn't I sit in a phantom car? Just wondering here cos it's better than standing on the roof.
  11. I see. Press to swim like press to fly. It would probably depend upon cost. I'd have no idea whatsoever what something like that would cost.
  12. I'm just quoting this because it's about swimming and it seems very important to you. Is this for mermaids and/or just for swimming in the ocean that many people seem to want swimming? So, couldn't private sims put up a little beach store that sold beach things including swimming AO'S, wind surfer's, etc? That's about all I can think of. I'm not sure what you all mean by "baseline swimming". Do you mean the water can swim you with pose balls and you don't need an AO? Or, another thing, beach sims could put up a sign with a link as to where to get a swimming AO.
  13. People need to set chairs far enough away so the avatar can stand. Also, couldn't putting the tables on phantom help the avatar to stand? At least, it's better than standing on the table. It's still a good idea though. Modesty and avatars being undressed, yeah, it's weird to say the least, no matter where it is. BOM can help with undies, I think. I've been a Dinkie awhile now so I'm not sure if the BOM undies are helping the humans any. Newbies could find rezzing nude people unattractive as I'm sure they don't expect it.
  14. What do people mean when they say "they made their own"? I messed with personal environment and then the floater window adjusting things and got a light I am happy with for now. The problem is, I am afraid to change the lighting now. Which is not a good thing. If we use personal lighting and then set things the way we like, shouldn't there be a way to save it so we can use other lightings?
  15. Oh, I see. The info is a little all over the place. But, if someone always wanted a homestead, they should take the risk and jump at it, imo, as I think this is an offer that's only good for Dec. 1st thru the 31st. It's a month to month deal also? In SL, I tend to take a see how it goes approach and just do it as certain opportunities are not always going to be available.
  16. To clarify, this is what is says: Please note that in order to purchase a Homestead Region, you must either be a Premium Plus subscriber (additional information here) or own at least one Full Region.
  17. This forum is closed and I thought it was ADULT. I will keep to general audience discussion in the future as I did not know we had to be general audience at all times except in the Adult area.
  18. I don't know anything about virtual porn sites and their animations or whatever they may have. Me continuing about other stuff, not directed to Rowan. One thing about the female bodies is the breasts need work. I tried bodies out for Black Friday but decided to wait because I have many things on my plate. I thought Perky was okay as far as breasts but did not know if I had to get clothes specific for Perky and did not have the time right now to decide if it was for me to go through all the trouble of specific clothes since I have much on my plate. Some say Slink has the best body but I've never tried it on so I don't know what the breasts look like compared to others. If Slink or anyone could build an add-on, natural breasts would be an improvement, imo. If it's possible.
  19. I've seen some avatars that look exactly like a human; and, again, like someone took a 360-degree camera and photographed a real person and then duplicated it into a 3D avatar. I don't know anything about where someone attempts to run them though.
  20. Oh, ok...new editor system. I thought they'd probably change other things too which to me is like a new system/new viewer. With PBR and reflections and light moving realistically and mirrors even work, I'd think virtual porn could eventually replace the real stuff. Some of the things made today are so realistic, they look like someone took a 360 degree camera of a real object and then made it 3D. I'd suppose avatars could look that realistic sooner or later. Porn is big business. I just think that one day machinemas and avatars will replace the real stuff and it will be money driven rather than technology driven of what will work for SL.
  21. The biggest clubs in SL did complain about the Slink feet once just about everybody had them. Complained about the flexi hair too. I remember the days of flexi hair and Slink feet and my performance of SL was unchanged. It ran 30, 40, 50 and up Classic avatars just fine. I was, however, an early switcher from dial-up to cable within a few months of it's release even tho the price jump was about 30 dollars or higher a month at that time from dial-up. My husband was a generous person and I thank him for that. Perhaps many people still had dial-up at that time. I just don't know exactly as it was quite a long time ago.
  22. Oh yeah that's true. However, what I am saying is that someone/somewhere will take advantage of the new viewer and create super humanistic bodies with goodness knows how many polygons they will try and it will be for porn purposes and I am serious, not that LL is creating a new viewer for porn. LL is creating it's own mesh avatars that will be made suitable to run on the new viewer, but I simply don't see that lasting long unless curbs of how many polys one can import are put in place. But, going back to Slink, Slink feet were the first and people were complaining those were too laggy. Compare that to where we are now and/or where we might be headed.
  23. It's a little late for "managing" of bodies. Plus, I remember the days of Slink feet and how many popular clubs of that day went into a brouhaha about the Slink feet and shoes causing lag and we went through a time period of having to weigh our scripts before we could enter certain sims. LL doesn't get involved in private going on's here in SL unless it's necessary. SL is created by residents or was at one time before the corporates took over. But that's not to say that some of the newer SL items aren't amazing, because they are. With SL, we want everything and then realize our machines won't run half the stuff well. And, that is the real problem. The problem is with us, not LL.
  24. I know photography is big here and more realistic bodies would and could be amazing for that as well. But, I think the main reason to create super humanistic bodies would be porn.
  25. How about flustercluck? Flustercluck could be an interesting new coined word. However, to the rest of what you said, with no guidelines, I fear the same will happen all over again if and when a new viewer lunches. I don't know if a new viewer is dependent upon SL surviving "these current hard economic times" or if they will use some of the money from the sale of Tilia. I mention hard economic times because a new viewer requires about, it's estimated, a third of it's current clientele to upgrade to new machinery. Not a good plan, imho, during stagflation. But, I still feel it will happen all over again with 50 million triangle bodies and 2048's or more because people will want to re-create realistic porn from it. And, porn isn't all SL is about, not hardly. However, that's the purpose I'd think people would create bazillions of triangle bodies - porn. And, I could care less about porn. There are people here who are my friends and this is a creative outlet for me.
