  1. Yeah, I know but has it ever really been "money" in the money sense? What the linden is is helpful in that creator's don't have to take every fiat currency there is nor do they have to deal with all the mayhem that would cause if they had to accept every fiat currency there is. Let alone try to price everything in every fiat currency from the countries that are accepted in SL. SL has been here near 20 years. Many of us took the risk and the risks are not that large if viewed in the scope of nearly 20 years. But, they have to put those clauses in to cover their buttocks in the event of an unforeseen catastrophe.
  2. I believe that terms of service remark about virtual property or tokens are valueless is in the catastrophic event of a cyberattack because these things cannot be insured at this time in history. No crypto nor virtual token is FDIC insured nor do most of those exchanges with mined crypto or ERC-20 minted tokens claim in their TOS that they will pay back investors, especially in terms of cyberattacks or bankruptcy. Only FDIC money is insured up to a specific limit. This is what they meant by that TOS clause, I believe. No insurance.
  3. Get a tiny avatar or a Dinkie avatar and come visit us at Raglan Shire. It's low key and not dramatic. If you are only looking for slex though, Raglan Shire isn't it. Humans are allowed sometimes but some events such as those with Dinkie seats could not hold a biggie avatar. Open field events, everyone is welcome. In my life, in rl and sl I want a more drama-free way of living.
  4. Oh, I just quickly glanced at the address but there is a phone number.
  5. Mine was a small exchange of lindens into dollars; it was not thousands of dollars as some are saying in the thread here, that's why mine may have settled in 3 days. It was quick. My whole experience with Tilia to Paypal to money for rl again was all of one time. So, I don't know much of anything about it really. But, 30 days is the norm. I didn't know that.
  6. No, I'm saying when I cashed out a message popped up it would take 3-5 business days to settle. It settled quickly, imo. It settled in 3 days. And, this was with Tilia and Paypal and converting the lindens to dollars. Now it's 5 to 10 days, with a max of 30. It has changed in the amount of days and I was just wondering why.
  7. You're right. But it is a longer settlement or longer wait for one's rl money now, for some reason. I cashed out once and the settlement time was 3 to 5 business days. Now it's up to 30 days. However, I'm in America so that could have made my cashout through Tilia to Paypal to my bank 3 to 5 business days. I'm not really sure of all the time frames before the new TOS because I only cashed out once in my whole entire SL which is nearing two full decades. You and others are also right in that I think also these are standard terms of service for American money transmitters as it stands now.
  8. A quick Google search reveals the following below: (Also, I googled and found out Wells Fargo is one of Paypal's partner banks.) People should call either Tilia or Paypal themselves if they need specific questions answered because I don't think LL is going to chime in here. My copy/paste is between the stars: ********Because PayPal is not a bank, it is not directly covered by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. (FDIC), but users' funds are still FDIC-insured up to $250,000 through the partner banks that hold them.May 31, 2022***********
  9. I'm not feeling well and am attempting to read the Tilia TOS again which is not a good combination. I don't understand the part where it says they need our address, telephone number, all that blah blah if we don't sign into anything. Does this mean if I have payment info on file, they already have my age, address, telephone number, etc? Or is an official give us all your personal data form coming? Or, will that form be only for cashing out? Does anyone know?
  10. Also, @Lindal Kidd this is all just starting. I'd think, perhaps down the road a bit, if one's store of value with Tilia could be stored in U.S. dollars that could be FDIC insured. The fiat but not the lindens. It's a possibility.
  11. It's seems scary, I know, but I think they are just stating worst care scenario such as an attempted cyberattack. It hasn't happened yet. That's a good sign, really. I'm sure Tilia has had expert hackers try to hack in, even military attempts. Many non-cryptography blockchains have been hacked multiple times. Look up Solana for one which is proof of history or something like that.
  12. Go further down to 11. *********NO VALUE, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, IS GUARANTEED OR WARRANTED WITH RESPECT TO ANY CONTENT, INCLUDING VIRTUAL TOKENS OR STORED VALUE BALANCES. Tilia does not ensure continuous, error-free, secure or virus-free operation of the Tilia Service or any component thereof, the Website, Tilia's servers (the "Servers"), or your Account, and you understand that you shall not be entitled to refunds or other compensation based on Tilia's failure to provide any of the foregoing other than as explicitly provided in these Terms.************
  13. I don't know if there will be any sign in yes or no as this is how the blog starts. My copy/paste is between the stars. *****From time to time, we make changes to Second Life’s Terms and Conditions in order to improve the documents, update and/or clarify policies, and keep the Terms current - all of which assist in governing your relationship with Linden Lab. Our next update will take place automatically on October 31, 2022. Here’s what’s new in this update: We clarified certain functions associated with the LindeX as well as the terms applicable to orders placed on the LindeX. We added a section describing the terms applicable to your use of Stored Value Accounts, including your relationship with Tilia LLC. By continuing to use our services after the changes take effect, you agree to be bound by those changes. No further action is needed from you to accept such changes. However, if you would prefer to decline them, then you will need to close your Second Life account prior to October 31, 2022.****
  14. I think that's what it's called. You know, where once you log in and are inside the viewer and in your NOTICES area - the area where events or other info from groups go. That's where mine was but it might have been sent by a friend. I didn't take notice who sent it. No pun intended.
  15. Did you receive a message in your notices area? I think it said we don't have to do anything we just accept the new terms by staying or leave by October 31st as that when the new TOS begins. Sorry, I have a headache so I don't know if I got that exactly right.
  16. They are based in Hollywood, that's probably why. I think that's where that law started. LOL
  17. I also saw a "we reserve the right to refuse service to anyone at our sole discretion" clause in there. So, that's basically what it is too.
  18. At first I read that some withdrawals may be declined as "they found a money launderer". However, the reason crypto land has exchanges halted is 1) They filed for bankruptcy, and 2) They shut the exchange down temporarily due to high sell volume coming in (which leads to A - they are bankrupt). Dang it to that sole discretion stuff.
  19. There are ways. I use voice recognition for banking myself. But, I'd have to agree that all this stuff that went down with YouTube was utterly and absolutely idiotic. I once thought perhaps they should just make children's browsers.
  20. Yeah, YouTube has changed in some silly ways, imo. Many have comments turned off and I used to love to read comments as I'd get info on the musicians in the band that way.
  21. Something needs to be done because while many of us like being Dinkies, the metaverse is too PG-13 for me to want to be involved in anything else in the PG-13 genre. I do also have adult avatars.
  22. However, certain money exchanges are already needing an ID for access. It's already here and happening. The thing is, laws may change. JPM is a prestigious hedge fund and investment bank. However, they may require ID only if one wants to access those parts of Tilia if they become an option. It's all just speculation at this time until we hear further.
  23. Photo ID's have also become the norm where any "crypto" or digital currencies are involved and are part of KYC in many countries but not in others. The being anonymous on the internet is also being beaten like it's the devil and must disappear. Many banks want full transparency on the internet but again that varies by country, and they want a photo ID. It's money laundering, tax evasion, human trafficking that's driving a large part of the now need for a photo ID. But, again, I am speculating this could happen. However, submitting one's photo ID is done with careful secretive coding or JPM wouldn't be here.
  24. Question. Are you thinking along the lines of *everyone* will have to have PIOF? I actually have been wondering that myself but then again we wouldn't know unless it happens; we'd just be speculating. My main account has always had PIOF. But, would this mean our alts would need that as well? I have no problem with that but others will squeal and holler.
  25. That might have to do with the demographics of age rather than "freaks" as I'd think the vast majority of "games" and/or the target age for the new metaverse age is probably in the vicinity of PG-13. Plus, the advertising of said games on main browsers would be G-rated (not saying SL doesn't fit that bill for a main browser)..but rather SL has a "reputation" of being adult and adult is not as sellable because of censorship protocols. I think JPM is positioning itself for the addition of cryptocurrency and a cross-platform exchange. SL would be a small slice of that pie and might be an odd duck out amongst the ducks, as you say.
