  1. Not physically - they don't hurt to hear, per se, but it certainly bothers me more than most people I think. I am also extremely startle-prone so I leap like 3 feet whenever it occurs. Not sure if it's some attention deficit or I hate hearing myself think but I need constant stimulus in the form of podcasts or music. So I don't like silence a whole lot, either.
  2. When you pick a decent fantasy-esque name for your character that sounds good and then months later a popular fantasy content venue uses the exact same one and now people will probably think you just stole it from there. (What are the odds of the name Phendris being used so liberally? Seriously?!)
  3. This encapsulates my current problem with adjusting shapes for Jake. I'm around 6 and a half foot tall height to 7 feet according to the shape window, and I'd love to be slightly shorter, but the instant I go below 60 or 70 on the slider I might as well just re-do the whole shape. And I do (sometimes) but things still feel wonky. At the end of the day I guess I'm just too lazy to puzzle out proportion properly.
  4. I know the exact door opening noise that tons of doors use here, and I hear it ALL over. Games, movies, everything. Same thing with a vase smashing clip, I hear it over and over in tons of media. Custom foley isn't worth the time, apparently.
  5. Every plant is edible. Some are only edible once.
  6. I don't always listen to cold, austere indie/folk. Sometimes I listen to the stupidest remixes ever.
  7. No Man's Sky is truly a redemption arc of a game release, glad it's good now. It certainly would be fun to have the procedural elements of it on the land, but I doubt SL has the inherent things built into the "engine" to make it possible. I'm not the most knowledgeable about SL's inner workings but I know it's vastly different from commercial or indie game engines in almost every way. I can't imagine it'd work without breaking nearly everything else, sadly. Fantastic idea nonetheless.
  8. Back on my defunct first account, a long time ago, I was relentlessly hit on as a skeleton. Nothing fancy, a literal human skeleton. Some people just like the undead and wanna go to The Bone Zone. Literally.
  9. I scraped into existence at the last possible year of the 90's. I'm taking the older 90's kids out in the final duel to be the last person from that era. Consider this a warning and a promise.
  10. Man, I don't take this place seriously enough apparently. "Oh no! Some person has beheld my pixel bits!" I get it, though. It's about agency, nobody wants their av to be perceived in a way they don't intend people to see it. All the answers you can employ have been laid out: Alpha sections, BOM cover-ups. But I think the last couple replies of "What's it matter? You do you." are more key than the practical approaches listed. Maybe I'm just in a nihilistic mood, I don't know.
  11. Never. I edited every single camera preset so it's closer to avatar height and eyeline levels, not sure of the exact numbers but the default cam appears more of a birds eye view nowadays when I accidentally reset it fiddling with stuff. Cannot stand it. Also I have custom ones for especially small or large avatars, for ease and simplicity.
  12. I love this peeve, it's so specific, perfectly mundane, and utterly harmless that I laughed as I read through it. And as a person who loves music with tales and stories, but ALSO listens to things that closely resemble a brick in a tumble dryer on high, I really can't explain the appeal of the latter. Sometimes I just like industrial rhythmic grime. Sometimes it's beautiful instrumentals. But I kind of bring my own story to them, so the result is sorta the same as listening to a ballad. Most of the times it's just tone-setting because I'm a sucker for that. If I'm drawing something horror-esque, I put on corresponding music, etc. The vibes, to me, are usually more important than lyrical substance concerning music choice.
  13. I dunno what it was, but this teeny comment really just.. hit home. I guess I needed a little drop of kindness and grace more than I thought. All that weirdness to say, thank you. Really.
  14. Stumbling around various RP sims and staring at them. Got greeted by a few people, which was startling for me. I usually just scoot around unnoticed with an OOC tag on. Seems like most places use applications, which is fine and I can deal, but sometimes I don't feel like filling out a 3-page form and waiting 72 hours just to write character interactions with people. One place doesn't have any, and seemed active. TWO people talked to me there and I nearly evaporated into mist. Might go back and try my luck, though.
