Sure, that is fine for the kids whose parents can afford gaming computers and VR gear and all that. Problem is, huge numbers of kids already got left behind with the distance learning the past school term because they dont have computers or even an internet connection. All this electronic learning just disadvantages kids who already are in tough life situations even more, and I feel will make inequality far worse than it already is.

OMFFG, I have spent soooo much on hair. And yeah, quite a few fatpacks in the range of $1000. If I came across one that I loved the color and style of, and especially if it fit well (most hairs don't for me), I would pay that without hesitating.

I had no goals when I came to SL, just always looking for something new and interesting. I found places and people and music I loved, and my goal was just to spend as much time there as possible. Then all that I loved started fading away, and my goal for years was to replicate that. I finally gave up and ignored SL for a long time. I came back, and my goal was just to find stuff I enjoyed. I pretty much failed at that, too, including trying SL photography. In the end I think I am just not suited to SL anymore, so I no longer have goals in or for SL.

I've said this before, I think, but you really are not right! (I feel even more strongly about this since I learned your feelings about math, OMG!!!!)

Not that I know anything about fashion photography in-world or IRL, but a couple thoughts (sorry if you already thought of this stuff): Though images with low contrast between the model/clothes and the background can convey a mood, and perhaps interest people in the clothes because of the associations (cool, edgy, whatever), I would think that to really showcase the clothes, you would want good contrast with the background. I guess brand managers (or just photographers in SL who want to make these pics because they like doing it!) have to balance all that. Perhaps even if viewers cannot see a lot of details in the clothes, if they like the image associated with the clothes in the photo, they will go look at the clothes in-person, or track down images that show better details and more accurate colors. IRL product photographers, and I thought fashion photographers, too, spend a lot of effort in color management so the colors *are* accurate (I used to do that when shooting IRL, too; shoot a ColorChecker, use a calibrated monitor, print at a place with good color management). In the end I would guess like with everything else there is no one perfect, or even 'best practice' approach for the whole genre, and you have to figure out what the order of importance for the factors you can control and work with the limitations of the medium. Wrt to the lighting of one thing affecting the colors and whatever of another, IRL unless you are shooting in a studio, you often have to deal with mixed lighting/color casts, especially if you use extra lighting. This can be handled in a lot of ways, again depending on what you are trying to do. However, if you want all the lighting the same, and are not trying to light the whole outdoors, you can just use much stronger light of the quality you want on the subject. I don't have any experience with it, but I would guess IRL photographers want more accurate light on the subject, and perhaps warmer light in the background, though again, a lot of people take photos early or late in the day to get the warm, soft Golden Hour lighting. In that case, clothes may look appealing, but are not going to look like that for the people who buy them unless they only wear them outside early or late in the day, lol. Personally, for SL photography, I probably would (and have) use compositing. One thing to remember, of which I am sure you are aware, is that color perception is relative, not absolute. So even if you get perfect, accurate lighting on the clothes in a technical sense, the background colors/color casts are going to affect how people see the clothes in the final photo. Better, more experienced photographers may certainly take issue with things I said above, but just how I see it, and something to at least think about a little, maybe. Hope this helps in some way! ETA: Btw, in the studio, people use gels to get lighting that is less 'sterile' or 'clinical.' You can even mix that with clean white light ( a bad term, but I think you know what I mean). Probably mostly used as an accent light of some sort, but you certainly could use it for main light effects, if you wanted.

God I miss that place. I used to pretty much live there. Back in the day there were a lot of women there every night, with play and discussion and teaching and just having fun, everything. Dances, Greedy. And all the places you could go on the Estate. The Domme Auction. The place dying left a huge hole in my heart. I still go there whenever I am in-world just to be sad, I guess, but at most only ever a couple people are there, and one is a girl I have known since forever who doesn't really talk. And they just moved it again or something, almost nothing there, it's a wreck. Just so sad. That and one club that was like family to me, then another club that miraculously replicated that for me, then it died too, long, long ago. 😢😢😢 Sorry for the derail...
