Btw, the joke involves the word airy (windy) being taken as the word 'airy, to which the woman replies, "What the 'ell did you expect, feathers???"

Love your new profile pic! That tagline, though... (groans...) Reminds me of a grown-up joke that plays off the stereotype of Cockney accents involving a windy day, a woman wearing a short skirt and no underwear, and a passerby trying to make the best of a surprising, awkward sight.

My guess is that LL doesn't really want to do it at all, and are trying to dissuade people and make it worth their while if people really want to do it. But who knows, they threw darts at coked-up armadillos for all I can figure of their business logic.

If only choosing a last name was the biggest obstacle to integrating with SL. Everything is so complicated and opaque, especially if you are going mesh, and though they have a few tutorials when you first land in-world, you have to put in a huge amount of work to figure things out. You really have to want to be in SL and work at it to really get much out of it.

I wish! Although I guess I am thinking of RL...in SL it is pretty easy (and in fact I recently did that, too, lol).

This is why I have no interest in the new last names. I get that a lot of people find the goofy names fun, but (it's silly, I know) my identity is tied up with my name in SL, and I am not interested in the 2019 version of Itsacooljoke or whatever that one was.

I don't find $40 at all unreasonable, personally. I know that can be a lot of money to a lot of people, though. OTOH, it isn't like it is any kind of real necessity (that I know of) to fully participate in SL. The thing I have a problem with is not getting to choose the last name. Once I found that out, I lost all interest, and in fact just moved to a new account so I could have the first and last names I wanted, even if they are all squashed together as one first name, and my last name is really Resident (I don't think that actually shows up anywhere anyhow?). But that's just me. FWIW

Thanks so much! I occasionally something in the What's Hot Now of the in-world Destinations guide. It would be nice if I could find stuff like this in some kind of search, but honestly, I find searching for anything in SL horrible. And the Destinations online site is just a disaster. IMO, they might actually have better uptake of SL if they didn't make everything so opaque and user-unfriendly. ~

I guess I am confused. I thought you would also have low frame rates if you were lagged? Are frame rate and actually being able to do anything unrelated, or only loosely related?

Over the years, random people have told me about one monthly shopping event or another (most of which die after a few months, it seems), but I have never been able to figure out how to discover them on my own. Is it just word-of-mouth and luck, or is there some trick I am missing? Thanks! PS: Btw, I am pretty much just interested in events related to avatar appearance, not home and garden or anything else. So, is Lumae being transitioned to Ritual? The former says the skins are being retired, and about all I find in the latter is fantasy skins. Am I at the wrong place?

OK, since this seems to have wandered about a bit anyhow, and there are knowledgeable people in the thread, I have a stupid question: I go to sims quite often (a great deal of the time busy shopping or event sims) and even though I have decent framerates, say 30 or so, I experience massive lag: walking in place, mostly, but also walking very very slowly and the classics like walking then jumping back or walking after I stop trying to walk. What gives?
