  1. I've been killing griefers in the cornfield, and upgraded my weapon to a chainsaw! 😎 This game is pretty fun, I wish LL would create a few more like this one.
  2. Don't forget Orville, it is great. While you are at it, try to give Pluto a try, it is free and has a few live streaming channels you might like.
  3. Nah, I am fine with people wandering around my home. I even have an automated message telling them they are welcome, it also keeps count - in the past year it shows I have had only two people other than myself there. I'm not home often anyway, I'm out exploring everyone else's creations. When I am home, it is just a little interior decorating, or watching videos on the couch. It is not like they can do very much anyway, it is a pretty boring place and small.
  4. I rarely speak to anyone, but on the occasions that I do, I prefer text. I spend most of my socializing time on forums, such as this one where I have plenty of time to sort through my thoughts, read what other people have to say, and respond in a manner I find satisfactory. I am lousy with small talk among strangers, and voice chat is the worst.. When talking with people I'm unfamiliar with, I'll think about what I want to say which causes pauses, and just feels really unnatural. Plus, when I have turned on voice chat which is pretty rare, it seems people are arguing, playing music, or going on with drunken ramblings.
  5. It is apt for some people, I do enjoy finding a nice outfit so in part it is kind of like a barbie game for me.. but I would do the same thing in World of Warcraft and few people would consider WoW a Barbie game. Most of my time spent in SL, is either building something, exploring what others have built, or playing around with vehicles. Accessorizing is fun, but not my main activity, in fact I still use a system avatar rather than a mesh one because for me that is good enough. So, it could be explained as a Barbie game, but it could also be explained as a sandbox like Minecraft, it could be explained as a driving game, a flying simulator, a zombie shooter, an RPG, a virtual classroom, an online business, the list goes on and on.
  6. I like that idea! Thanks for the advice I'll have to give it a try tomorrow.
  7. My Internet connection was splotchy today, so I did not spend much time in SL. I did, however, play around a lot with opensim. I spent most of my time trying to figure out how to fix scripts involving animations, and getting my boat to work when crossing sims, I copied AVsitter to my character, created a couple of regions and I played around a lot with Paint 3d, as well as blender. I love trying to figure out how things work, not that I am very good at it 😛 Below is what I worked on for the past couple of hours, the graphics are horrible but it was fun to do. I want to eventually find a script that will levitate me up the beam into a skybox I will eventually create. The other picture is of me sailing up to a light house, I did get the boat to work when crossing regions but it was a very sloppy job.. I don't know anything about scripting in SL. I also got the animations to work. I even created my first tree today, which was fun Tomorrow, I hope my Internet connection cooperates with me. Opensim is fun, but I prefer SL a lot more, it is a lot less buggy.
  8. So far, I have blocked a TV in the property next to my home, which was set to autoplay on youtube. I have also blocked two bots in portal park that were playing 7 nation army on repeat for several days. There hasn't been a need to block anyone or anything else for me, most people are decent here as far as my chat window displays. I'm not much of a socialite, so there really has been no drama my way. If I were being harassed for whatever reason, I would probably block the person. I'm not opposed to using the feature, I just haven't the need to very often.
  9. I spend the majority of my time exploring, building, and a little bit of time socializing. My favorite thing to do, is to explore though, I love to see everyone's creations regardless of how talented or artistic they are. Some of my favorites so far, are older prim built things, there is just a certain feel to them that I find enjoyable. When I am in the mood for building something, I usually just go to a sandbox, build for a few hours, then delete my creation. Socializing is mostly just going to populated areas, and a few lines of text for me
  10. Playing around with prims, I really have a lot to learn. It would probably be better to just learn blender, and start with mesh, but I'm a sucker for doing things in world.
  11. Oooh I like this! I've been playing around with it for the past hour now, and it is a lot of fun. Thanks for sharing it, and the pictures.
  12. Just explore around a lot, interact with objects, talk with people. I'm still finding new things to do here, and I've been here for over a year. There is no point as far as I am aware, just like in real life, you find your own meaning in SL, you find activities you enjoy and you pursue them. Some people like flying, some like dancing, others like scripting, designing furniture, clothes, homes, some like exploring, the list goes on and on. With a Nvidia 1050ti I usually run at around 50-70 fps at close to the highest settings, unless I am near a large group of people. In some instances, it drops down dramatically to 10 FPS, when I'm around others. I think the avatars are what take up a lot of resources, and the starter islands usually have larger groups of people. I would suggest setting your graphic options down a bit when around larger groups. Also ram makes a drastic difference, I just upgraded to 20gb or ram and it is like day and night compared to how SL ran on 8gb. SL is capable of some stunning graphics, you just have to find the right areas. It is all user created, so you will find some areas with graphics that are not up to your standards, but they still have their charm and I enjoy them just the same. There is quite a lot to learn with Second Life, it is going to be one of the most sophisticated programs you have running on your computer, it will take you a few weeks to get familiar with the basics, and you will still be learning things years after you start. Stick it out, it is worth it, and you will very likely find it to be enjoyable.
  13. I've never had a business in SL, but if I did I would keep a budget specifically for it. As it stands, I do have a budget for SL, but it fits in with the rest of my first life bills as a simple monthly expense in terms of dollars.
  14. Think of a quote you like and use the first or last letter of each word, add in numbers of place of letters. "May it be a light for you in dark places, when all other lights go out." M1b4lfy1dpw@0lg0 They are easy to remember, and usually have enough variation.
  15. I'm painfully anxious and find maintaining chat to be difficult, so I usually avoid long conversations, but SL without other people would not interest me. I do enjoy the little chit chat that I get, even though I feel awkward the whole time. Plus I like seeing other people's creations. I think I would get bored without others being around. I enjoy building things, but that is just one part of SL that I like.
  16. I just looked at the release notes for the latest viewer I could find, and they are dated as November 15th, 2017.. that is a shame, I really do enjoy the viewer though.
  17. After reading your post, I gave Alchemy a try and was very impressed with it. It was much smoother than Firestorm or the LL viewer on my computer.
  18. Playing around with my Linden Home, I'm such a noob.. I'm enjoying it though.
  19. I kind of like the mishmash of good and bad graphics, it is absolute visual chaos in areas, and it is unique in such a way. The Internet used to be the same, most of the web was user created, there was a lot of variety and it was a thing of beauty to behold, then social media came along as well as the larger sites and it made the entire web feel bland, I would say almost sterile in comparison to it's former glory. Surely, the graphics look better, but the creativity of a millions of people, all doing their own thing is gone.
  20. Think of everything you would rather people not be doing, and you will find every disadvantage there is to a free society. Where do I draw my limits, well that could require hours upon hours of typing, and then every scenario would have different clauses, it just gets to be a nuisance trying to pinpoint that line in any given subject. Here is just one though, to give you an example. I think it should be illegal for people to throw garbage in my yard. That is just one thing, that list goes on and on into probably the thousands. When it comes to issues like free speech, I believe everyone should have it - but I respect the rights of property owners to have that person removed from their property if they don't enjoy hearing it, and I extend that respect of the rights to do so on the Internet as well, if an owner of a server does not like the way a person is conducting themselves, then they should have the right to remove them. It is important to note, in my opinion, one person's freedom often comes at the expense of others. There could never really be a free society.
  21. I've considered getting an account with a streaming service, from what I've seen some of them stream to phones as well. It is basically a video stream of a remote computer, that has decent specs. The only problem would be that I would still need a keyboard and mouse to play SL. I also imagine it would be a bit laggy on 4g though.
  22. I love to go to shops and have a look, but I try not to spend too much money. I usually look around for free stuff, which is easy enough because I am using system avatars. The mesh avatars look so nice, but I could see myself spending quite a lot of money if I ever bought one.
  23. It takes a lot to annoy me, I think that is a result of being on the Internet for too many years. It took me a while to think of something specific to SL Not enough that I get really angry, but it is kind of annoying. I like playing around with vehicles in SL, and at times while in my boat, jet, or even helicopter I may accidentally go through restricted areas and get instantly kicked off. It happens mostly while I'm in my jet, and it is my own fault because I like flying a little lower and watch the landscape, but it really destroys any sense of immersion I may have been experiencing.
