yep.. if they click the first one off and the second two on. it makes you not show up as online in search or when looking at their profile or if you try and message them. but most are pretty stupid and think this really makes them invisible to others.. it doesnt.. join one of their groups and look in the group list if its shown.. that will always show if they are truly offline or online. the offline setting only applies to friends and complete strangers. aka not sharing the same group. its sort of broken that way.. if set to offline it should be offline to everyone.. friends.. groups.. strangers.. no one should be able to see your online at that point.

that is usually lag issues. the map is desyncd with his client and showing you in the wrong place. it might still be showing to him your last place before he lagged or got disconnected.

I might just attend that one time to see if there is anything I have missed. always up to learn something new to keep safe with. been tricked a few times before by people in the past.. especially with rlv.. and a few permissions scripted items. hence my own posts in the forums about rlv myths and such.. hoping to help inform others so they dont fall for the same tricks.

no they cannot install one through sl itself. you would have to click a link in chat and download and install it yourself. sl cannot arbitrarily install any software without your permission. or it would need to be done by a nefarious tpv.. most that are used are fairly safe against that. the only real way someone can hack your account is if you use a very simple password or answer a phishing email or link posted in chat or by some object you are passed by some random stranger that has you login to your sl account again to make it work aka anything that wants you to link your sl account by using your sl login and password. even most of the games that track your play and information cant really gain access to your account as long as you dont use the same password for their site as with sl. if you ever think your account has been hacked(you cant log in for some reason) you can always use an outside email and then put in a support ticked stating account compromise and have ll investigate it. same can be done if anyone ever trys to trick you into the so called 'perm rlv' or 'inescapable rlv' aka the 'non cheatable rlv'. which is still a farce and just an attempt to deceive and manipulate a person. so at the end of the day, dont click on any link in chat that your dont know the person its coming from. or make sure you have a current antivirus or similar software running. if you do happen to click a link and it suddenly asks for any other permissions aka wants access to xyz information or wants to update/install new driver/application click no.. an old scam was people sending links to site that said your flash player was needing to be updated, or that your computer is full of bugs, click here to fix.. or that your media player was out of date.. or any similar wording. lots of people here will spout lots of lies about what sl can do or what they can do through sl.. they do this to create fear within the uneducated. to get you to trust them and do as they say.. in order to 'protect' your account better by letting them have access so they can check to make sure its setup safe.

no, they cant see the old credit card information. they can see your transaction history though and how much you spent. the only information they could see if what is on your account and profile; what is currently visible to you as is.

unlike inworld you dont really have that option here. so like what was mentioned above about the bookmarks is the best solution. create a folder in your bookmarks called sl or secondlife. then place in it the profile page of your friends. then its easy to go to just that folder to look for who you want.

I have been banned from a few forums in my past and one rl business. It was a temp agency. We didn't see eye to eye on how they should treat their workers. So I made a stink about it and then was told to never return and was black balled from using them anymore for job searches. which was several years ago. the irony of it is that the business recently contacted me trying to offer me a job again.. which i turned down. so even rl banns are not really permanent.. and the forums I was banned from.. well..they went under and don't exist anymore.. so that's a moot thing too. my point is that most bans rl or otherwise only hurt the first time. afterwards you learn to ignore them and just move on.. if your emotional mature enough. even most sl bans are not always perm. either someone clears the list and forgets why some were banned. or they need space on the list because its too full. or it was just a time based temp ban and they hope you wont ever think about coming back. that you have moved on. or they did it as a lesson and hoped you learn your lesson sort of thing.. which is just a power play thing..

except according to the way the ball is supposed to work its not really tiny inside them. its just small on the outside but big on the inside. so not really a cage.. but a posh hotel room which a lot of people would love to live in and would never want to leave unless forced too.

I have been banned from a few places before. the first time it bothers you, upsets you, makes you sad, or angry. the second time.. eh.. it really doesn't matter as much at that point you have already got past the initial trauma of the event. You move forward and onward and do not let it control or effect you as much anymore. its like having a car wreck.. the first time you completely totally panic over it.. the second time not so much.. the third time even less until finally its just like second nature to deal with the problems it might have caused. you have become desensitized to the trauma and can now think about it in a more logical and rational manner. in sl its the same; the person that banned you lost the control over you that you had given them by getting emotional or upset. this will drive some of them up the wall.. because they live for that power that control.. that ability to cause issues in others lives. and some are just psychotic jerks that wont care at all. which means they dont deserve any control over you or your fun here in sl. so dont give it to them. .

perhaps the object doesn't like being owned by you. so is being maliciously compliant. or maybe you need to update/upgrade/improve yo connection or potato hardware and software.

Sl gives owners of sims or parcels the power of a god/dess. In other words they can do as they wish as long as it is within the tos and community guidelines. Meaning they can eject or ban from a group or sim or parcel for any reason or no reason and do not have to inform you why if they dont feel like it. As Rolig said, find another place to go to and not let it bother you so much. there are thousands of other places in sl to explore and try out. Being banned from a group or sim is not the end of the world some like to make it seem to be or feel it is. Forget about them and find other places to enjoy. By doing so you take any power they really thought they had over you away from them. You make their sim worthless to you and pointless to worry about which will drive some of them nuts. others wont care. and that is just how sl works. It it was a place you really liked so much that you cant seem to enjoy sl without it, them consider getting your own sim and making a similar place and seeing who you can enlist to join you in making it as good or better than the other place. Steal enough of their patrons and visitors and they will feel the karmic payback as it becomes harder to continue to afford the sim without as much help from others. that is also how sl works. in other words become your own god/dess and make your own rules and do it how you think it should have been. I was banned from Voodoo / Sploder for more than 2 months, I still don't know the real reason why I was banned because the people working in the support for disbursement are somewhat arrogant and rude, if I say that the guy looks good he ban for longer, I have tried to get rid of it several times but at each ticket they ban me a little more, I have already reported ABUSE to SL support but they did not help me much, I wanted to at least know the real reason for the ban so that it does not happen again . perhaps you were accused of abusing the sploder in some way.. or cheating it.. maybe people thought it was unfair with how often you won or how much you won each time compared to them and reported it. it could be any number of possible reasons. perhaps they think your an alt of someone that was banned for cheating or abusing the use of the sploder before.

ouch.. not.. lol.. I dont take things so personal as some like to do here at times. I learned that lesson.. guess some have not. if your buttons can be pushed by simple comments on a forum.. you need to re-think your priorities. peeve.. people who cant take a joke about their peeve..
