  1. Oh bum, I forgot about Breakfast Club. At least my RL sim is looking cleaner and tidier though
  2. Oh, they've had some lovely gifts and dollarbies on the marketplace too..
  3. Oh, I love that one too! In fact, between that one and some of the other hairs gifted at SYHO I'm now on a mission to update my hair collection (not quite ready for the group join fee at Truth though!).
  4. Wow, thanks! I've been using some recommended settings for a while now, which have been good for going through doorways, but that's about it. I'm looking forward to having a good read later and finally understanding more about what each setting actually does
  5. I'll try that. I think I may have used it before and encountered a different problem with it...I guess I'll find out tomorrow
  6. Very similar here, although I invested slightly more ($15 that I found in one of my freelance site accounts that I got for some proofreading/ editing work I'd forgotten I'd done ). Having found so many good free items out there, I figured the main purchases to use L$ for were a mesh body and head (I now have several - thank you Altamura!), somewhere to live (optional, but I'm giving it a go), and maybe launching an SL business.
  7. That's what I have now, and it works really well, except my furniture arrangements are looking tiny in such a big open space! I'm still furnishing a house for the first time though, so I like to think I'll come up arrangements that address that along the way. When I feel like a change, I may well shrink down my current open plan place..
  8. Awesome. Wait..are you the size your forum profile pic suggests..?
  9. So, I've taken on board that modifying houses/buildings and furniture to fit a realistically-sized avatar is a great way to save space on a limited amount of land, as well as encouraging slightly less extreme avatar proportions in the first place. However, none of this helps what I see as the biggest problem with enclosed spaces (such as homes) in SL: the camera view jolting around to the point of having no idea where you are and having to rotate round just to see a tiny corner of the space you are in I recently toured a beautifully textured L1400 building and rejected it even for its sale price of L75 for this reason. Personally, I prefer a decent amount of space to sashay around in while trying on outfits, but also appreciate being able to create smaller intimate spaces for socialising etc My current house is 25 x 25m, great to move around in, but my furniture/ social areas are looking tiny.. Where do YOU draw the compromise/not care/find other solutions..??
  10. Inspiration indeed! And that goes for the whole thread. I'm currently retexturing my home (after having rebuilt it prim by prim) now that I'm renting some skyspace for the first time. I'm weighing up my current 150 prim allowance against what I would like to achieve
  11. Bumping this thread while I browse it for inspiration
  12. Well, at least security will know for sure if you're carrying anything suspicious..
  13. Spending far too many frock tokens at Apple Fall...
  14. Not a demo as such, but Altamura have placed a free* Fullbody called 'Valentina' at a freebie sim: http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/AJUDA BRASIL VOLUNTARIOS/37/29/23 Instructions from the Altamura notecard: "Walk forward from landing to the freebies sign, turn left and walk into the building, go left to the last section and Valentina is on the wall. Free, no group necessary." More precise instructions: Go into the building and turn left down three steps. Walk towards two gift boxes (with bows) on the floor by the back wall. Then look to the right and the Valentina vendor is on the partition wall opposite the gift boxes. *this has been announced as an ongoing freebie, not just a short-term promotion. It is limited in that you can't change sking or use appliers, but you can get the feel for a mesh body, wear mesh clothes, alpha body-parts via the hud, and adjust the shape to your liking.
  15. It is....but you could easily end up spending that for the look you want. Because of the potential outlay, it's really worth spending a little time sprucing up your system avatar while you shop around and DEMO a range of mesh bodies and heads. For comparison, I picked up two lovely Bento heads at xmas - one for free from Altamura, and a LAQ one at a promo price of L500. I've also bought two Altamura Bento Fullbodies (head included) at L900 each (offer price, they're normally 4.5K). So I have a choice of two bodies and four heads for a grand total of L2400 (I could have been perfectly happy with just one Bento Fullbody for L900, tbh, but I like variety!) - there will be other deals/promotions from various creators to watch out for while you're demoing..
  16. As I'm only supposed to post one pic at a time in the Vanity thread, here's an alternative shot: Body & Head: 'Jenny' Bento Fullbody – Altamura Shape: 'Kelly' (for Altamura 'Jenny') by LexxiXhan (Lexxi's Agenda) Skin: 'Moon', Tan – WoW Skins Eyes: Soul Eyes, Paradise – Inkheart Hair: Sakura – Cherry – Argrace Dress: Rosanna, Black with Hearts – CatsClaw Designs SuspendedCircleEarrings – Baubles! By Phe Lipstick: 'London' – alaskametro (blended with the skin worn via the Altamura head HUD)
