  1. My personal experience has been that not all wi-fi connections are always stable enough for optimal use with SL. If you are having issues with using wi-fi to connect, the best solution would be to connect via ethernet cable.
  2. sightseeing out in some of the New Babbage regions
  3. That looks like the Debug Console got turned on. Ctrl+Shift+4 should turn that off.
  4. That does sound like some kind of object corruption, then. Hopefully a new copy may take care of it.
  5. I just came back out here and that part rezzed for me right away (even though it feels almost laggier now than this morning).
  6. In response to @LittleMe Jewell's post above : I didn't see the ground trash litter when I was there this morning, either. I wonder if it 'appeared' sometime during the day, which would be more realistic for a big event like that. (At least it didn't rain).
  7. Have you tried using a new copy from the original box? (or getting a redelivery using the HUD from the redelivery?) Have you tried moving the location of the Lara HUD on the screen? (in case the overlay is a separate item that you don't notice otherwise?)
  8. I was at Hippiestock for awhile this morning
  9. This isn't a game in the same sense as the titles you mentioned. The majority of the things you see inworld are created by other residents, with varying degrees of understanding and skills in creating game-optimized content - that is one of the cool things about SL, that anyone can create and build within the framework provided. Because people are constantly changing the world, it cannot be 'pre-loaded' onto your PC. In addition, there are over 23K regions, full of their own content, and there is no way for the system to know ahead of time which of those regions you are going to visit. The graphical quality and performance will vary based up a variety of factors: your computer specs, the stability and quality of your connection to the servers, the graphical settings in your viewer preferences (which you can adjust), and the area inworld that you are in (number of others present, quality of the build in that particular region, etc.). If a particular region seems laggy for you, then try adjusting your graphics settings and/or find a different region to explore. Except for very popular shopping events, when they first open and are very crowded, I seldom experience serious lag. There is no one way to enjoy SL - it depends on the types of things that interest you or that you want to explore or try out.
  10. I have an amount that I set aside each month for SL. I quickly found out, when I first joined, that otherwise, it is very easy to get carried away with how much one is spending for SL each month.
  11. I would certainly look at offerings from some other rental companies - I can't imagine that they all would have increased the rental rates as much as you had experienced with that particular land owner.
  12. Thanks! I was in a funk, so wanted to find someplace dark. Taking pictures there actually lifted my mood The location is called Everwinter and it is at http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Elven Mist/242/122/27
  13. Lutz City - a location where a lot of pictures in this thread have been taken at recently.
  14. No. I guess I may not quite understand what it would be like, nor do I understand what the benefit would be. I suppose part of that may be because too much interaction with other residents is not something I have issues with.
