  1. I think it has to do with scale, after a certain height the bodies' proportions just...go out of wack. That's for male and female avatars. For some reason, a lot of guys tend to max out their height, arms and chest so they look swole on already swole bodies. Since they can't really make their heads swole as their bodies you get the pinhead thing. I've also noticed a lot of guys have this square looks like they're wearing a clothes hanger look about the shoulders and toothpick legs. Now that height deformers are out of the bag, it's even worse.
  2. You are correct! I took a few minutes to jump on their discord (the have a discord now!) and scroll back. If anything, to inoculate myself against misinformation. The mods were kind enough to field some basic questions, here's what is known: They were pretty tight-lipped about the features, but there are going to be two bodies It will be Mod It's going to be a separate body, not an upgrade like Ebody and Ebody Reborn. Meaning your old Freya clothes won't work They said they are going to have an event and 100 creators are onboard No male body, the rationale is it's the female bodies that lost support, so they're starting there It will support the Evo-X neckfit They're working to get the kits out to more creators and opening up the application process, so if creators are with it....its a go. Belleza kits are super easy to work with from a creator standpoint Then it devolved into crying about men's bodies and smack talk about other bodies so I left.
  3. I think people often forget this, even though the updates did take longer than usual. I did have a random shower thought though: Didn’t the creator have some kind of personal tragedy around the time the pandemic started? I’m not trying to defend him, but I do remember hearing that. The last couple years have been so eventful, something like that would be easy to forget. Its sort of like people that complain about Genus without realizing the creator is Ukrainian. Logging onto second life probably isn’t what they are focused on right now. Sometimes people forget stores aren’t vending machines and there are people behind them going through real things. I do understand consumers moving on if something better comes along, but still it’s worth remembering.
  4. I believe your best bet is to get a freely available one like The Meshbody kit (the OG TMP) that comes with a male and female model and create a few items for those. Once you have 5-10 different items on MP, you can start applying for kits.
  5. Yeah...I get the impression he's a "my art speaks for itself" not too savvy social media type. I even wrote him a looooong NC in French a couple years ago asking him to put word out that his bodies are being worked on or something because people were leaving in droves. No response, had to put the body away and explore other options. People wonder how Legacy and Ebody became so popular so fast when it's no secret, they have a social media presence and a team of CSRs/Promoters, it really makes a difference. I had a feeling they were going to come out with a new body when they finally updated and dropped the price on Freya, Isis and Venus. It was giving...this is it. Then the rumors started and it was like Hmmm, kinda makes sense. I don't see them doing anything else with the existing bodies, it looks like they've moved on. I do expect an uproar though, people are going to be all "I stayed loyal to my Freya all this time, and I don't get a discount/free body?" Watch. Hopefully, they do give a discount for people that already have one of the older bodies though! LOL
  6. It looks like Belleza figured out social media and marketing. I’d need to see more pics, but it looks like it’s a slender Maitreya type body. Of course I’m going to try it out. Things just got a little more interesting!
  7. That’s the thing, that doesn’t always go well here.
  8. Happens to me all the time! Even something like choosing the right lashes! You’re so right! I’m tempted to get that skin I posted just to play around with it!
  9. You’re not wrong. There are threads like « what did you eat for breakfast today ? » where someone will randomly go off on Kupra or lately Ebody and for a long time before that it was little shots at people that wore Freya. It’s a little weird and nobody really says anything when they do it. The truth is, some people get really defensive about their body of choice; sometimes it’s not even solicited. There was another thread about this same topic and someone simply said « do we need another thread about this? » because at that point it was about the second or third one in the same week. That turned into a little tiff. People generally don’t tend to change their avatars that often, particularly on this forum. Since Second life has become more about how your avatar looks above everything, this is what you end up with…body wars. It’s a little strange that you would have that in an environment where you can look however you want but we bring our flawed humanity with us when we log on and that includes tribalism. Is Maitreya going anywhere anytime soon? Not really. Are creators starting to drop it from their clothing lineup? It’s at a point where it’s noticeably obvious. Nothing in Secondlife stays on top forever. It’s probably a couple years off before it gets unseated, but people are going to keep talking about it in the meantime. You’re going to keep seeing those odd rants until then, which is why nobody really says anything when they happen. I remember a few years ago there were posters that refused to go mesh and were very vocal about it. Even though it was clear that was the direction SL was going in. I don’t think this is quite the same thing, but something is happening.
  10. Making an avatar is a complicated thing, particularly when you’re going for a specific look. It’s going to come down to a lot of work and it’s going to take a lot of searching for tiny little things. It’s not going to be as simple as pick a head, pick a skin, search MP for a shape and boom Meztizo avatar. Take the head, it honestly doesn’t make a difference which head you choose, because at the end of the day, you still have to shape it. For a look that could mean a lot of things to different people it’s really going to come down to what OP personally wants. In general though you’re going to pick a head shape for the look you’re going for. Picking the skin might be the easiest part because it gives a good base. The tone is going to be important because that is something you can nail down easier. It’s somewhere in the range of almond to coppery-brown. The features are going to be a little difficult, I chose more Iberian features because those are easier to find. Eyelid changers are easy to find. Other types of addons might be worth considering. The reason I chose the skins I did was because they come with shapes. This is important because it’s a good starting point. I don’t need a Ted-Talk about meztizo ethnic makeup to know that it is such a range appearances that you really need to have a specific look in mind when you get started. The last example the OP gave looks like me and I’m black and French-Canadian. Where I live, I get mistaken for Latina all…the….time. The problem with using an Asian skin would be they don’t get to the darker skin tones. What the op is asking for isn’t going to be an easy thing to put together. It’s going to take a lot of improvisation and creativity. I’d love to see what other advice people are going to offer and how it turns out.
  11. Here are a few skins I think might be good choices (of course, you would want to demo the darker skin tones):
  12. I’m just asking you to show a picture of what you’re trying to look like since heads have different shapes. You’d get better help if we had a better idea of what you’re going for, ijs. If it’s more « yeah…that » it’s going to come down more towards the skin than the head, but again it’s harder to make meaningful recommendation not knowing what you want.
  13. Google shows a wide variety of looks for mestizo, ranging from more African to more indigenous. Can you show a pic of what you’re going for?
  14. It might be a slightly different shape than a 3.1. If you’re wearing a 2.5 you probably have an Evo skin. In that case you just go to the hud and press the Evo button and your head will look right. If you don’t like the 3.1 head, you can always go back to the 2.5 head.
  15. There was a time there were a few gossip sites out there and they were at least discussion worthy gossip sometimes. Now it's the only one that's left. It really has nothing to do with gossip anymore and more like a sounding board for personal attacks. It's basically what happens when you take shouting into a void, a WWE Royal Rumble and a mosh pit and make it SL related. Meh
  16. I think there’s a definite market for those! If flexi hair can make a comeback, flexi earrings can too!
  17. I cam them and look at their profile first. If it’s a crazy profile or a 4chan meme for a profile pic or something I might ignore. 70% of the time I will still respond, because you never know. Mostly my instinct is right though. So I just end up with a strange interaction that may end up in them getting ignored or blocked. I usually respond, sometimes it turns out that I’m the one doing the trolling.
  18. The funny thing is, I think the og slink body did just that.
  19. There's a petite version too. https://gyazo.com/2bc9a05ef2cd36084c4e7203f608a23a I don't know how many Maitreya users would be willing to part with it since most are them are like "I'll stop using maitreya when someone pries it from my cold dead hands!!!" but at least someone is attempting to crack the slim market.
  20. It’s fine, my point was more so about how adjusting something like that could affect all of the clothes that came before a potential update. It’s definitely a valid quibble. I remember when they updated to bento it broke some content.
  21. Eh, not necessarily. I remember when they came out with the last update, someone here who had never worn the body bought it and started complaining about a small hump on the back. I had been wearing it for years and never noticed that (probably because I usually wear longer hair). Correcting that with an update would probably break every top in existence for Freya and lead to very angry people complaining about broken content. If they are going to do something, a new body would probably be the better way to go imo. There would probably need to be a nice discount for people that already have one of the older bodies though. I would buy it if I got 50% off or something.
  22. There's been a rumor floating around that they're coming out with a new body, yes.
