  1. I always wondered why we are scrambling to create a "metaverse" when nearly every metaverse featured in every science fiction novel ever is a dystopian corporate nightmare that people use to escape from the fact that the planet is falling to pieces around them. Its almost never portrayed as a good thing. If we ever do get to that stage, oh my, humanity is irreparably, irredeemably screwed. If we are not already. But until we either have chips in our brains or at the very least, lightweight, discreet and affordable AR glasses, the metaverse will never be a thing in the "ready player one/snow crash/neuromancer, etc" mass parallel reality sense of the word. I think of all the current crop, NeosVR is probably closest to "the dream/nightmare" right now and its super impressive (or embarrassing, if your LL) to see what 1 person with passion can do. I have had a scootch around on desktop and its petty impressive even without a headset. Kicks the crud out of Sansar (not that that was hard).
  2. I second the "if you like it, keep it" approach. My head is a non-mainstream head from an full avi pack (Kalhene Analexa) on the Lara body. Facial anims are not great, and I have to stick to BOM for any details like freckles and stuff, and dont even get me started on neck joints. I even own the Catwa Pro heads. But I didnt switch because I cant make any of them look like "me" yet. And I wont switch till I do. Because looking like "me" trumps any other considerations as far as I am concerned. I still get hit on inworld all the time so
  3. Thanks yeah I am still messing around with all the settings that would have made my other PC melt into a plastic puddle. Trying Black Dragon as I heard that's good for photography, but the amount of options and sliders makes my head spin a little. Anyway, I don't want to get shouted at for derailing a thread, so here's another one if me just chilling
  4. Meow. Come to my place hun and let me put some plasters on that gorgeous face maybe take a shower? No pressure.
  5. I was just looking on the MP and a lot of the most popular hands do mention in the listing text that animations are NOT included. So check that. That would mean you ned a separate AO that animates your full avi, or just specifically your hands.
  6. Then it should work and its probably something you need to take up with the creator themselves sorry assuming that the hands came with their own animations/AO. Hard to say 100% without seeing the item in question. Dont share links on the forum, but you can PM me inworld if you like.
  7. Are you wearing any other AO's? If you have an AO that animates your full avatar, its may be that those animations have a higher priority than the ones for your hands. Try attaching just the hands and the AO for them. Remove any other AO or animation thingies you may be wearing. For example, I wear a Lara body and a Vista AO. That AO animates my full avatar, hands and all. If I sit on some furniture, my Visa AO will override any animations built into the furniture unless I turn it off manually.
  8. Thats pretty much the same criticism Musk had for crypto in general when he said Tesla would stop accepting Bitcoin until it became "greener". Its a valid criticism that can be levelled at nearly anything humans do. Musk seems to enjoy firing cars into space on the back of high powered fossil fuel burning rockets. (Edited to remove an unjustified ad-hominem). Society is a heat engine and we are on a burning planet. Is this news to anyone? Oh my, were off the rails again
  9. Sorry I didnt mean to derail by starting a debate over peoples opinions of crypto. But my point was related - something merchants could turn to in replacement of Gatchas if SL supported it that is less or at least equally as scummy. Personally I think it would play well with SL's "spoilt fashion victim" crowd. To have the only set of clothing, sneakers or something in SL and be able to verify exclusive ownership. It doesn't have to be flat sh*tty pixel art. It can be any digital asset. Didnt intend on starting a ruckus. Personally I would be happy if Gatcha's just died, nothing replaced it and I could go back to just buying the things I actually want. A girl can dream I guess.
  10. Also, the whole "crypto money laundering thing" while maybe kinda true in the past is not anymore. Everything on a blockchain is traceable 100%. Just Google some of the money laundering busts the Feds and Met in the uk have done recently. If your money laundering with crypto, your probably a bit of a crap criminal . Never mind most crypto exchanges now require Know Your Customer verification just like SL does when you want to cash out. And of course, the premier choice of money launderers all over the world is cold hard cash. I dont see us getting our panties all bunched up about that.
  11. And I wouldnt have the guy from Ello' Ello' as my profile picture. Horses for courses my grumpy friend.
  12. Lol Crypto is a divisive topic. No doubt. And IMHO, most NFT's are hot garbage. But Visa just bought a cryptopunk. Of course, they are the master money launderers of the world . Paypal just launched crypto services in the US and UK. In the US they are talking about regulation (which is a good thing). Like it or not, its here to stay. However, its the underlying tech I am trying to point out to you here, and how it could be applied to SL. It also "solves" copying issues, as if someone rips something and uses it in public, it can be proven they dont in fact own it and therefore must have stolen it.
  13. Clever boy but there are many other similar things to bitcoin these days that use the underlying technology - called a blockchain. One of those is NFT's - Non-Fungible Tokens. A "Token" can be any digital asset in theory. Like I said, I dont know how it might work in SL. All I know is this image sold for $7.8 million recently. And is currently valued around $11 mil. Its a crazy new world out there.
  14. They did say "due to the changing regulatory environment". You just need to use your noodle and google a little to discover there has been a regulatory crackdown on "loot boxes" and anything that could be considered gambling by regulators. This is across all gaming. Its not hard to see how Gatchas can be defined as gambling. Side note - I am starting to think LL is missing a trick slightly with NFT's. For people that dont know, NFT's are digital assets "minted" and recorded on unchangeable blockchain ledgers. So you can verify ownership easily. I dont know how it would look in SL, but I imagine a situation where a creator could make 1 of a kind or very limited exclusive items with an NFT mechanism involved. There are already a bunch of startup "metaverses" doing exactly that. but none of them have the graphical fidelity of SL (lol, I know, right?). People are paying SILLY money for NFT's of pixel drawings right now.
  15. Having a pink day while I try to pretend we had a summer in the UK.
  16. How exactly do you think she is cashing out the lindens? Sending them to the Mafia?
  17. I would guess at least 70-80% of those sims are purely residential with no significant events ever happening on them beyond private gatherings or desolate mainland that nobody has visited in years.
  18. There seem to be quite a lot of threads at the moment about judging other peoples appearance and behaviour. If someone is being annoying, I politely ask them to stop it. Most of the time they do. But of course that means I dont get to make myself feel better about my own shortcomings by having a good whine about other peoples behaviour in forums
  19. Apart from the last line of my last comment, I'm using the hypothetical "you" not the actual one. Though I am well aware that you are SL's most notorious curmudgeon, I dont pretend to know anything much about you or what you get up to beyond that. But the example of leaving a negative review is the most obvious example of having a beef with a merchant. And to be clear, I am not saying every merchant will behave "correctly" or with integrity in every circumstance, and I dont afford customers that belief either. But I do believe that "the market" will mostly balance it out. A trigger happy merchant who loves banning people will hit their sales and reputation. An overly demanding customer will end up with a limited pool to purchase from. My point is very simple. People are free to ban you. for whatever reason. Period. You can moan about it and pontificate about abstract economic/political concepts if it makes you feel better......I guess. But it comes down to basic human interaction. If I have something you want, but dont want to sell it to you, tough cookie. If I own land and dont want to let you on it, also tough cookie. If a for-profit company wants to favor another party over you, triple-chocolate tough cookie with rainbow sprinkles. Maybe try being nicer to people? Its no fun dealing with someone who has a constant chip on their shoulder. And you do seem to generate quite a lot of drama (speaking as an unqualified observer).
  20. No, because as I said previously. your reviews still stand. Nobody is being kept in the dark. Your simply being precluded from making further purchases because the merchant doesn't want to deal with you anymore. People are not obliged to deal with your crap or serve you. And if a merchant has any sense, its not something they are going to be trigger-happy with. Otherwise the merchant will gain a negative reputation. it does work both ways. Hardly "absolute freedom for a merchant". Also, Merchant are "the state" now? I don't see how you make the jump from say, me banning you from my store to a totally state controlled economy. But then I don't see how you make the jump between a lot of your points. arguing with you is like mudwrestling a pig but less fun. You seem like you need a hug.
  21. Sorry but your just not going to make money fast in Second Life. Period. Especially without spending some money first. I dont want to be discouraging, but I think best to be straight-up about it, rather than you waste a bunch of time chasing opportunities that don't exist. Every possible/viable method of making money in second life requires time and at least a little investment. Making stuff - cheap to do as programs like Blender and GIMP are free, but a lot of work to learn and master and a lot of competition. Stripping/Adult work - You need an amaaaaazing avatar with all the "features". Expect to spend on your avi before you get any work at all. And as Bili mentioned, that industry is not what it once was. Lots of "girls" chasing a shrinking pool of paying men. Most clients would expect you to voice and/or cam too. Though there are some places still that do text only. Lower paid though. Land Barron - requires you have land to rent out. So also involves $ up front. More like $$$. DJ/Events - I know nothing about this other than its a grind to get your name known and the pay is generally low.
  22. Lets do like The Purge but with flying freeners and particle bombs! Once a year, LL could turn off all sim protections and ban lines and let the (probably relatively tame) bloodbath commence. You could probably squeeze a few months of drama out of that.
  23. Your the one that brought up communism and made the original absurd exaggeration. I was just riffing on your ridiculousness. Don't blame me for what you started. Cheeky Its only "unfreedom" for the customer. And the customer is still free to shop elsewhere. Its freedom from the merchants perspective. Freedom to associate and transact with whoever they please. Without threat or coercion. You know.....Capitalism. For something your so fond of, you seem to have a hard time identifying it.
