  1. Ah so you were channelling personal experience! I'm very sorry to hear that. *hugs her and passes the brain-bleach* As someone who does enjoy wandering the adult world, I have to say I think it would be pretty hard for you to just find yourself "randomly" in some hardcore BDSM scene. Most places are just places to meet and then people go off to some private space. There are places that people have all kinds of sex in public, but they are VERY clearly signposted. And many of them have a loooooooong catwalk or a safezone skybox before you get to the play area.
  2. I think the issue on sexual content is more from an investor/banking standpoint than the general public. Investors and banks can be massive prudes. Don't want their names associated with sticky gooey nasty (potentially illegal) stuff. Does that even happen anymore? I don't remember the last time I saw any griefers or people being inappropriate somewhere that they should not. I kinda miss those days. The sexual element has grown over time for sure, and I think a large part of that is because SL is one of the very few digital social spaces that even allows sexual content. Almost every other aspect of SL (besides customizing yourself and your own world maybe, which is huge, dont get me wrong) you can get somewhere else, its less janky/broken and cheaper. But not virtual sex. And I bet LL haaaaaate that fact, but they know they cant change it because it really helps with keeping the lights on.
  3. Oh yeah absolutely. Not going to argue there. That's a whole other hill to climb. Until we have seamless AR via contact lens viewers or chips in our brains, the whole "metaverse" thing is just a bunch of corporate fairy-dust-fugazi nonsense. Most people are indifferent to the concept, and quite a lot think it sounds positively dystopian. I was talking more about people like us that are already invested in the concept. The people who are already into the idea of a "metaverse" existing at all are not thrilled by the idea of it being a shiny sanitized corporate fun house, generally speaking. That was kinda my point and I also had things like Minecraft and Stardew Valley (though SV is way more niche) in mind. It seems many things that become truly beloved by their communities are happy accidents, projects of passion, or come totally out of the blue.
  4. I think one lesson nearly every "metaverse/virtual world" has learned from SL: gatekeep the hell out of your content creation process. Don't let average-joe anywhere near it because before you know what is happening, you have flying freenises all over your face and DMCA notices out the wazzoo. Or, if you do allow general user creation, its strictly within the tools given within the platform, and sexy-fun-time is clearly forbidden. Something like SL will not be born again from some corporate wet dream about the metaverse. That's why LL could never repeat the trick. They too wanted to make the metaverse all shiny and family friendly. Not understanding that for many of us, the anarchy and depth of possibility is the charm, warts and all. It will come about (if at all) when some crazy eccentric or small indie team accidentally invents it while attempting to do something else. Sad to see were being used as a side-story for Facebook now And they said we look like Roblox?!?! That's just rude.
  5. No, I was referring to support in general, clothes, bits, the lot really. Though I take the point about most Lara stuff being compatible. And good news! I fixed my unsightly leg seams! turns out it was the textures. Though I went through a TON of skins for the Lara body and they all had the same issue, so I made my own tattoo layer similar to a BOM neckfixer. Took some eyeballing to colormatch it but got there in the end.
  6. One for the nerds....(like me).
  7. Lmao, I may take you up on that offer Might be on later today, if not, sometime tomorrow. Ill PM you.
  8. Ok so......wear them both, bend over, then put the A into a pose. You should then see what I mean. the wider you go, the more "oh no!". Also, well done everyone for keeping the thread as tame as possible. Considering the subject matter, I'm very proud of you all.
  9. Wow, quite some reaction overnight, dont think I can respond to everyone individually but thank you all for the effort and info! It is possible that I am just an obsessive perfectionist who expects far too much from everything. I may have been told as much by friends in the past For those that cant find the seam I am talking about. Inner thigh, start at the knee, looks fine, but the further up the inner thigh you travel, the more color mismatch you "should" see. I have come to the conclusion that it is the skin. It IS a skin supposedly made for the body (not going to name and shame). I guess this was just a bit of an oversight on the part of the creator. If I use the non BOM skin tones included in the Maitreya HUD, they look much more acceptable. Ive never really thought to use those. I also put on my Kalhene body can definitely see a seam if I REALLY look. But the skin does a much better job of hiding it with its default textures. So at least I know now to throw money at skins, not bodies. That in itself is a huge help.
  10. Ok, so guys are busy staring at other things and dont see them noted. lol. Thank you Ceka, this is what I wanted to know so I have to live with it, just find a skin that minimizes it as best as possible.
  11. I dont think the smaller versions would qualify you for my "Chonkster" tag (sorry!) the butt is a teeny bit bigger than I like on myself personally, but its not offensive. Bigger pics however - yeah thats chonky. but still not horrific. Within the realms of believability. Its not like "there is no physical way a human could carry that" type huge.
  12. Yes, distinct possibility. I am actually messing around with my own textures at the moment to see if I can theoretically fix it myself. Yeah I figured out the Slink stuff in posts above, but thank you I already own The V, but (and I hope I don't get us moved to the adult section for this, lol) I find on the Maitreya body at least, The V does not mix well with the.....um....lets call it "Sensations A". I hope you all know what I mean Which (IMHO) is the A to own at the moment and not something a discerning trans girl should be caught without. VAW? Pft. GARBAGE! But unfortunately, the A and the P dont play well together. The P has an elongated bit of mesh on the back of it that kinda.......pokes into the A. It all looks rather pointy and uncomfortable and there is no way to hide it. Kinda funny to look at though. I dont expect anyone to help me with this issue btw, I dont think its fixable. I just wanted to get it off my chest because it annoys me. So. Freaking. Much. lol They are both great individually, but you cant wear them together. Sessions - in the unlikely event someone working there reads this - make a dang booty already! Sorry, derailing my own thread to tank my forum reputation even further
  13. This is why I ask the smart people I find this part of SL totally infuriating. I despair for total newbies trying to figure this stuff out. So turns out for Slink the one on the MP is the one without hands and feet, and if you want the "body bundle" you have to go inworld. Makes total sense. lol What on earth are you doing with your life? Seriously though, I actually never noticed until I was in a compromising position. But its like one of those things you cant un-see once you see it.
  14. hehe well I am trying to avoid demoing ALL of them. I do like clothes, but functionality is more important - ie - is it supported with adult parts. I have the Kalhene Analexa avi (being a trans girl), which I loved the look of but ditched it due to the non existent support for it. No P. No A. Im out. lol ...Nice legs tho lol you really cant win I guess. Slink was off my list as you have to buy hands and feet separately. Which just sounds like a huge extra faff. Its tricky enough getting all your parts to work together without adding hands and feet into the mix. I was airing towards Legacy or Belleza. But I dont really have my finger on the pulse of the mesh body world. So I was wondering if there were others I was not aware of. I will check out Ebody for sure!
  15. Hey all so I have been using the Maitreya Lara body since I came back to SL and for the most part, love it. Works well, fairly easy to use and well supported by other creators. However, one of the things that really bugs me is the very visible seams between the legs. Now, I do spend quite a lot of time these days with my legs apart in SL (dont judge me ) and I would really like to not have to see those seams staring back at me like digital cellulite. I know all meshes must have seams somewhere. But looking around at other avis in some of the less family friendly sims (I said dont judge me ) I have noticed other avis dont suffer this problem. And Its making me self conscious. lol So, please be a bunch of angels and save me a little time and money and give me your recommendations. Im not a fan of the "Super-Curvy" (or as I like to call them: Chonksters) look. So pretty much already know I dont like Kupra. Thanks!!!!
  16. Girls thread: Nothing much but likes and compliments and occasional photography advice. Boys thread: Centaur nitpicking, "you look like an icecream man" and are you sure your hands are the right size? Either way, the rest of the guys should basically just give up at this point. The dadbod has been dropped. You cant win.
  17. I dont put tooooo much judgement into profiles, but my "probably avoid" list includes - "No drama" - A timeless classic. " I'm a b*tch but lovely when you get to know me." Any mention of "princess" or "diva". "I'm a loyal person but if you f*ck with me, I will destroy you." type-thing. "I'm always in character as a dog/cat/raven" (I don't mind these people, but communication becomes exhausting pretty fast). And any profile that uses some stupid font that makes it super-hard to read.
  18. Sorry, I am a bit of a doomer, and I am being a bit flippant. But to loop it back around to the main topic of the thread, it is becoming really really hard to see where LL fits into the metaverse picture of the future. I mean there are only 3 real options, right? 1. Milk it till it sinks. Coasting. Managed decline. Whatever you want to call it. 2. Upgrade the heck out of SL and hope you can do that enough to compete against the newer crowd. 3. Try to build something new (tried that, screwed it up).
  19. Milk it -------> Till it sinks. Its a fairly straightforward map. Were just coasting baby. Have been for a while. Will be for the foreseeable.
  20. It IS probably a little harsh (a little). But if your applying for a job at The Lab, I assume you will do a bit of background research. So you will know that SL is their only successful project. And that everything else they ever tried basically blew away in a fart of overhyped-underbaked fugazi fairy dust. So if your going there expecting to be working on the cutting edge, uuuh, why? Unless you want to work on the next cutting edge "thing" that's almost guaranteed to fail. IMHO the biggest single problem with The Lab is that they (as a company) always seemed to want to be something other than they are, pathologically so. And this means they are always reaching for the "next thing" and falling flat, rather than figuring out what it is that they do well and doing it even better. Huge, massive generalisation, I know. And to some degree, that is what companies must do to survive. But not at the expense of delivering and improving on the service that made them in the first place. If I look at the history of Linden Labs, I see a company that invented digital-anarchy-sexytime-land and then spent their entire time either running away from it or trying to pitch it to groups that don't want it, while ignoring the groups who do. If a fraction of the resources they deployed on every. single. other. project. that never worked had been deployed to SL, the grid would be a much different place today. And thats why they find themselves in the position they are in today. Still with a unique product, but one that's getting less unique by the day.
  21. This translates to: "Sorry we spent too much of your tier on hair-brained projects. Broke now. Give us some more and will think about it in a decade, provided no new shiny has come long for us to throw your money at". Or "We are too lazy to be bothered". Neither is really what you want to hear from a company that (we assume) still wants to be around in 5-10 years time.
