  1. SI am an artist, I make and sell virtual paintings, which are just SL photos that have benn manipulated with a computer program to look like paintings. My advice is, talk to people. I don't have exact statistics but I would guess close to 90 percent of my sales come from people I have personally spoken with. Get out explore, say hi to the people you see, look for opportunities to have conversations, after all lots of people are here to meet people so most will welcome this, the ones that don'T, that is thier problem. Once they ask what you like to do in SL, tell them about your business. It's great to have a MP store or an I world store to share with them, Go there with them and talk it up. True this isn't the dream business that you set up and just sit back while the sales role in, but that really is just a dream.
  2. I must have, If I had hit you, you would be dead, which I thought you were, but now you are back so you must not be.
  3. As someone who clings to her system avi, I think this whole "second class" thing is way over rated. While it is true that I probably can't walk into most clubs and get a job as a dancer, but news flash, I would have better luck with that here than in real life. The same is true about being a model. What I can do is create virtual paintings for SL, and be my own model, and I can dance on public poles for tips, and while I do those things, I am friendly and vivacious, and treat everyone like they are special regardless of what their avatar looks like. This past month I made a ton of Lindens doing that, so I don't need any stuff club jobs.
  4. HI Natacha, I would love to be your friend, I love adventure and exploring and discovering everything SL has to offer, a couple of things. I tend to get distracted a lot, I get on, I start getting I Ms I forget what I was going to do. Also I am writing this from work where I can get on the forums with my I pad, but not on Second Life. Because of these two things you might want to IM me. Some info about me, to decide if you want to bother, I have two SL "jobs" I am an artist, I make and try to sell virtual paintings of SL scenes, and I supplement my meager income from that (think starving artist) as an exotic dancer. I am also a SL Mommy to an adorable lovely little girl, and her equally adorable, but much more bratty brother. The above keeps me busy. In addition to exploring and looking for places for setting for my paintings, I also love to shop. I also love meeting new friends, you never know when you are going to meet that person that transforms the SL experience and takes it to the next leval.
  5. I have a classic avi, people tell me I.am gorgeous, I put lots of effort into the look and I am not to sure about doing that again in mesh. That being said I am looking into mesh, not yet convinced I will make the switch yet. One thing is for sure, you are not alone, mesh is complicated and expensive and from what I can tell a lot of work. I made almost 20 grand as a dancer in November, so I have a little money to experiment with, but then part of me also thinks, this body made 20 grand, why change a thing.
  6. adjust the hover hieght, and no there si nothing you can do that will make the feet always be on the ground, but every time the feet are to high, or to low make an adjustment. IDK if its easier with guys since the typically wear flat shoes all the time, where we girls have shoes of various hights that might cause mor eissues but i am always adjusting the hight, like almost every day.
  7. I am also a struggling SL artist, could I get a copy of that notecard?
  8. Sounds great, I don't have access to SL right now, but I will tomorrow so I will try to get in touch then, If possible for you to send the LM before that it would be great. I would love the opportunity
  9. Ok so this might be odd to post here, but gambling isn't even something I had considered before as part of they SL experience, you have two regions? Could you send me a LM in world. I would love to check those out.
  10. I have some items that have gone missing from my inventory, I am not sure how many, but there are two I know of for sure. One of these has gone missing twice, the first time I noticed it was missing after it and a lot of other items had been returned by a guy who had let me put my stuff on his land. I got upset with him, told him it was ll his fault, and got him to spend 900L to buy me a new one, now that one is gone as well, even though last time I saw it I took it back into my inventory. The item as you can guess I am sure is no-copy. Two questions, 1, What might cause this and how might I prevent it in the future, and 2, Is there a SL trick that might get my items back?
  11. Lots of people do this. Of course some say they, but you wonder, are they really that good looking in RL, and if so, why do they need to come to SL to look for someone's?
  12. Foh but in SL we never grow old or die, and accumulating toys is so much easier.
  13. What isn't working, setting up the store, or getting actual customers to buy things, in my experience you can't just put stuff out there and expect suddenly to have a steady flow of Lindens into your account. I estimate close to 90 percent of my sales come from people I have personally told about my store. Get out every day, chat with strangers and when they ask what you do in SL tell them about your business. Remember this is a job, not a winning lottery ticket.
  14. I think it has more to do with what's in your profile than the date on it.
  15. Just start talking to people, send out random IMs just be sure to be friendly and polite when you do it, this place is for talking to people so do that.
  16. I am an artist in SL and would love to have you consider my work for the magazine.
  17. Of course you don't have to be an enabler of someone's pure laziness, but you could just ignore him, instead you have to get all dramatic and all.
  18. It is what you make it, why do you care what anyone else thinks, it either does or doesn't Orkney for you. It works for me, I love it, can't imagine going back to my life before SL, I would give up cable TV before I would give up SL, but that's just me, you might be totally different. You have to figure out if the time spent here is worth it to you, and no one else can figure that out for you, their opinions on the games worth do not mean anything in regard to what it is worth to you.
  19. No, 51000 is the number of avatars where I am because I actually am what's hot now.
  20. I am a 30 yo, female artist on SL. It sounds like we might hit it off nicely, though I do tend to be quite busy on SL. Typically I will get on with a plan to contact someone, and the IMs start coming and I get distracted and never get that done, and I can't get on right now and do it since I am on my I-pad, which works for the forums but not SL. So if you would like message me, thanks.
  21. Does it still do this even after stopping all animations?
  22. Ch I have missing items to, how do you do that?
  23. i am currently apartment hunting and am looking for suggestions. I prefer something cheep 200L or less, and I would prefer that it not be a skybox, I want to be able to walk out my front door into the world. I know of at least one place that fits these requirements but I am curious to know about others. Thanks
  24. M - F afternoons Eastern time, that is my schedule to, look me up
  25. Now and then it will happen that others either can't see something, or actually more often for me, that I can't see something that others can. The first thing to try is relogging.
