  1. Hi gang! It looks like this entertaining discussion went off topic a while ago and has become a shouting match. It's time to take a break.
  2. Hi gang! A very gentle reminder, mostly because I don't plan to stay up all night watching and I'd kind like to see this thread still alive in the morning ... Please remember to stay on topic and to resist the temptation to strike out at other posters personally. It's easy to get sidetracked and forget what a long thread like this is all about. In the heat of a discussion it can also be tempting to criticize other people instead of their ideas. Just don't.
  3. Hey, team... The conversation seems to be getting edgy and it's starting to repeat itself, so I'm going to go ahead and close it.
  4. Just a quick reminder .... The forums are not an appropriate place for discussing specific TOS violations, because of the possibility of naming and shaming other people. This thread asks a good question, using an in-world observation as an example of a problem but not identifying who might be responsible. In most cases, though, it is better to submit an Abuse Report and let the Governance team decide what to do next.
  5. Hey, troops ... It's fine to have a robust discussion, but let's not start throwing things at each other. If you disagree, please do it without using language that is sarcastic, pointedly personal, or intended to pick a fight. Take it off line, if you must. The thread has grown far enough that it's also a good idea to step back and focus on the theme. It's easier to have a constructive conversation if we're all headed in the same direction.
  6. Hi, team! There have been some good suggestions, looking at the OP's question from more than one perspective. I'm going to go ahead to lock the thread now, though, because it's starting to feel a bit testy. @oliviarodrigovirtual For future reference, if you feel that you have encountered a possible violation of the Terms of Service, the best way to bring it to the attention of Governance is to submit an Abuse Report. Here's a quick guide to how to do that:
  7. For the epic grid-wide searching adventure Tyrah and the Curse of the Magical Glytches, LDPW moles created dropping anvils, dropping pianos, bear traps, sinking mudholes, runaway buses, whirlwinds, meteors, and all sorts of other perils. You can still run across them in selected surprise spots around the grid. Lots of fun with physics (and other things).
  8. That's a timely observation. The topic of the thread is the updated policy about scripted agents. Conversations about Tilia are interesting, but are headed in a different direction. Let's leave it here and get back to the thread.
  9. Let me interject a brief reminder that this is the Answers section of the forums, designed as a place for people to ask questions about how SL works (or doesn't) and get short factual answers from other users. It is not a place for lengthy discussion. That is much better suited for one of the other forums, often General Discussion.
  10. Please remember that if you have a personal disagreement with another resident, it doesn't belong here in the forums. As always, hearty, even vigorous debate is welcome as long as it is on topic.
  11. OK ... now that all the aliens have gone home or been shot down by our intrepid Mole Interceptors, I'll tell you what those balloons seem to have been saying in Morse code. We recorded four messages, sent randomly: Plese dont shoot me I love most peeples Im a wether bloon Im harmles swamp gas plus a fifth message that was nothing more than a burst of static. The aliens were obviously terrible at spelling. I assume that's because they were not speaking their own language and Google Translate wasn't much help . BTW, if you spot an alien ship or balloon that evaded us, please let us know.
  12. Clever ideas. We were limited by the allowed length of a sound clip (10 seconds), which means that any message had to be fewer than about 20 characters. That ruled out messages like yours, sadly.
  13. AHEM ... Moles are fun-loving creatures in the world of Linden but we are not "the same thing".
  14. Please remember that as tempting as it can be to use sarcasm or take a personal swipe during a heated discussion, it can easily get out of hand. If you find yourself tempted, step back from the keyboard. Healthy discussion is always welcome.
  15. As a scripter myself, I saw this thread and had to wonder, so I asked around. It looks like llSetSoundRadius and the link version aren't on anyone's radar right now, but I will go ahead to do something in the JIRA to see if we can get someone to look. As always, there's no telling when it will be at the top of the To Do list. ETA: Submitted as BUG-233692 .
  16. The thread has been wandering off into the woods for quite a while now, team. It's time to move on.
  17. Time out, team! Things are sliding rapidly off topic and into personal name calling. Please try very hard to keep on track and avoid comments that are intended to provoke angry responses.
  18. Hello, debate team! Things have been getting a little heated recently. Please cool off the personal rhetoric and focus on the topic of the thread. Spirited discussion and constructive disagreement are welcome, but please do it without name-calling and language that is intended to provoke an angry response.
  19. It sounds like time for some people to step back from the keyboards, take a deep breath, and find something else to do for a while. This conversation has been losing its respectful tone overnight. With luck and cool heads, it might look better today. Let's give it a shot.
  20. Dunno about joy. The old WIP items have been sent to an LDPW graveyard. Thanks for pointing them out.
  21. Please remember the Community Guidelines that apply to these forums. In particular No Flaming: "Flames" are hostile or disruptive posts, or messages intended to incite an angry response. Spirited discussion and constructive disagreement are welcome, but name-calling and airing of grievances are not appropriate in our discussion areas. We will also not tolerate any post that encourages others to violate any policy of Linden Lab
  22. The general responses in this thread are helpful, but anyone looking at it should notice that it was created in 2012. As in any older thread, specific details may have changed dramatically since then.
  23. Oh, yeah. I forgot all about those till I went to see. IIRC, we made two or three WIP versions in 2016 and ended up going with the one that's there now. That's old partly-developed material that was abandoned six years ago.
  24. Hi, all! As a quick reminder, this thread is about the OP's request for a new feature in the JIRA. Discussion about the proposal and its technical merits, its limitations, and ways to refine it are definitely on topic. Please try to resist drifting into conversation about bots in general or the importance of reporting possible TOS violations.
