  1. Are you using the EEP project viewer?
  2. Guess what... I logged in a few minutes ago and right at the first teleport attempt with the sky rendering disabled I got... ... and was disconnected when I tried to bypass the issue the way I explained a few posts ago. We don't know if those who say they get the issue with the SL Viewer were using the project viewer or not. At least, I have no info about it. Well, I don't even know if they really did try the SL Viewer, I just take their word for it... But wouldn't it be kind of silly if those who supposedly are actively testing stuff were not using the project viewer? I don't know, people are strange. 😋 [EDIT] It just occurred to me that no one even knows if the issues are caused by the EEP code... But I'm starting to suspect they aren't. Last Sunday, I went to a bingo test at KittyCatS. I sat on a cushion and after more than 5 minutes there I was suddenly disconnected. Why would EEP be the cause? I know, different disconnects at different locations may have different causes but... Oh well... I'm sick 'n' tired of it all. Let the Lindens do their job, which means testing stuff properly — that's what we pay them for.
  3. Sailing or flying always with the same windlight settings never prevented me from crashing. Also, today I crashed twice in a short time while having the sky rendering disabled. So, as I wrote before, possibly crashes on crossings and the teleport issue may not be related. But who knows? Now, some people claim to have experienced the same issues using the SL Viewer... So, presumably, the issues don't affect only non-EEP viewers. But, again, I'm just guessing. (I want my sky back!!!!!)
  4. I've just re-logged after my second crash. Two crashes within less than 10 minutes. All under a "black sky" (no sky rendering.) First I tried sailing, and crashed at Blake Sea - Spyglass, after leaving from Nuggy to South and circling Nautilus City without any issues. Actually, the crossings were quite peaceful, most even smooth, till I reached Spyglass. I took this crash as "normal", though, as my boat seems to have been "eaten". Next, I tried flying from Honah Lee Trudeau to Nuggy, via Blake Sea - Crows Nest and then North of Nautilus City. It all ended at Weiland, as Cervera wasn't there (yes, no hand over.) In both cases I barely saw any traffic. Apparently, many people suffering from the teleports issue aren't having the problem anymore if they keep the sky rendering disabled. So, possibly, awful crossings and the teleport issue are not related. But it's yet too early to know or draw any conclusions.
  5. Nope, definitely not resolved. This was @9:19 PDT. [EDI] I'll try disabling the sky rendering as suggested and see how it goes, both for teleports and sim crossings.
  6. I see that https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/BUG-226577 seems to have been closed. But it's not resolved. I'm sorry to disagree with Whirly, but the message "Problem encountered processing your teleport request. You may need to log back in before you can teleport. If you continue to receive this message, please check the Second Life Support Portal" is related to the teleports issue. It's just one form of it, and it happens even when you haven't previously teleported anywhere during your current session. The issue is intermittent and happens randomly. Sometimes you can bypass the problem. If the teleport is taking too long and you feel that it's not going to work, and if you have the Cancel button available, then cancel and select any other landmark. After you supposedly teleport to the alternative landmark, you'll end up still getting the error message but you arrive safely at the destination you first selected. Some other times, when you re-log, you'll find yourself at the location you visited before... let's say, the last 3 you went to. Anyway, my main concern are sim crossings, as I don't teleport around much. Still, I've had the teleport issue affecting me days ago. One of those times, I got the error message mentioned above, and again after re-logging.
  7. Right. I wonder if it's related with CDN providers to some areas... [EDIT] But some people I know are in the US too and they are experiencing the same issues, while some other Europeans aren't.
  8. To fix it, they would have to know what they did wrong, and that doesn't seem to be the case. It's always sad to see that LL seems more concerned about cosmetics than actually getting it all running smoothly.
  9. Sim crossings have been awful as of late. Many people from the sailing and flying communities keep complaining. Not to mention teleport failures... Anyone has an idea about what's going on?
  10. I know what they do. I have a sim packed with sky domes next door. Is it somehow visually disturbing? Yes, it is, but it's not worse than loads of crap I see rezzed on the ground around mainland. You are forgetting one thing: every time rental owners take money out of SL, LL makes money from it. The more money they move to the real world, the more money LL makes. And it doesn't bother me not even a bit. Excessive profits? Yes! I wish there were more, no matter if it's from rentals or whatever else.
  11. I like them as much as you do, and I probably sail and fly around more than you do, but LL needs those "excessive profits" not only to keep stuff running as also to make improvements to it.
  12. I would never agree with that for the simple reason that at my 1024 sqm parcel I have several different buildings and windlight settings, distributed by sky platforms (none is below 2000 m altitude) plus the building on the ground. If you want to limit skyboxes, then why not simply limit the sky altitude itself? I would agree with a minimum altitude allowed for skyboxes, though. I know it can sound funny flying an airplane against one, but it really isn't for the pilot. [EDIT] I don't get what you mean with "There's no real point to skyboxes on mainland, anyway; anyone who goes there does so with a teleport". Are you forgetting we can set a landing point? (which I have set to the ground at my parcel where I have sky platforms)
  13. Yes, when sailing or flying I always use a fixed environment on Firestorm. And at my main parcel I have fixed windlight settings (of course only Firestorm users will see it and only if they allow it.)
  14. Yes, that will be great. I just wish that stars wouldn't be black dots at sunset/sunrise.
  15. I noticed that too. Actually, I was expecting the maintenance, and I have no idea why the notice disappeared, but that's not something new for the GSP — it has mysterious ways. 😋
  16. I did that years ago, and LL moved my home region to the main channel. It's one of the many things I'm grateful for.
  17. Um... Caleb? The GSP says that rolling restarts for the Main Channel are underway. https://secondlife-status.statuspage.io/incidents/3949qd6tvn0x
  18. I know, my post was a joke because nothing was there. Caleb spoiled it. 😄
  19. Here are the notes from the GSP notice: http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Release_Notes/Second_Life_Server/19 😋
  20. Ouch! I have that very same experience being at the main sim too. And also sometimes having vendors not delivering what I paid — the solution is always going to the main store and use the re-delivery terminal (if they have one.)
  21. It's funny that right now the world map shows 40 avatars at Gilded, 42 at Golden, 40 at Halcyon, 37 at Aurelian and 32 at Tinseled. Of course the numbers aren't accurate, as they depend on the world map updating timings, but I'm sure they won't be far from that. And yes, the cam sims have much, much less avatars.
  22. A friend who didn't bother fighting the lag at the Shop & Hop event says the cam shopping worked pretty well for her. I have that experience myself from other shopping events. Some of the most important shopping events have been using cam sims for quite a while now, and I can testify that even avatar collisions are minimal, as everyone tends to quickly move away from the landing point to the sim border, so they can zoom in to vendors easier. Despite using virtual bodies and stuff we are still human, so I suppose that most people prefer to walk around if they can. I know I do, especially if the event has buildings at a demo area, which is at the main sim, in a sky platform. Yeah, leasing sims for events costs money, and I believe that cam shopping ones are only useful for the event's first week... After that, attendance usually drops significantly.
  23. No need for popups if you are zooming around or talking with a friend in IM — the viewer "knows" you are not inactive.
  24. Yeah, but as Qie pointed, it's not exactly something very needed right now. What is important at the moment is reducing the servers load. Scripts are what make SL tick, and I really have no concrete (doable) idea on how to lower the scripts load at sims. Almost everything is scripted these days, to the point that quite some of the top apparel creators not only sell their stuff scripted (needed to change colours/textures) as also do not provide a scripts remover. From my shopping list, I have only a couple good creators who do that... One sells clothes copy/mod, so we can manually remove the scripts, and the other provides an option on the HUD to delete them. The same applies to a queuing system. I dunno if it is possible to make it work together with the existing code without an huge amount of work and some in-depth changes to it all.
