  1. This is getting beyond a joke... My body keeps loosing the settings after each TP failure.
  2. I believe that objects appearing only when touched is a viewer thing. That happens very often when teleporting whithin the same region/parcel from high altitude to the ground, for example. Another annoying effect of disconnects is that mesh body settings you changed are lost. I mean, it happened to me having changed outfits, and thus setting different alpha cuts than I had for the previous one, so about one hour later I was disconnected during a TP and all changes made were lost. Also logging in at the last place I was put where I had been one hour earlier.
  3. Ha! I was bored here, so I went to check it. Bronlen is there, of course, and Vallone can't be seen from it, either. 😄 [EDIT] Still, I could walk into Vallone and then back to Bronlen. Returning to Vallone, I could see Bronlen for a few, and then it vanished again. Weird...
  4. So... Could it be what I wrote above? Unless you also tried it at regions running the previous version... (I'm going to make a few coffee pots and send them to the Lindens)
  5. @Whirly Fizzle Maybe they re-enabled it as it could be a possible cause for the disconnects issue? Did you test it at regions on the Main Channel that have already been restarted today?
  6. Not mine, Whirly. Nor could it be, as it's at a Moderate region. Nor do I even allow nudity there.
  7. The same is happening to me. My events can only be seen via viewers' search (for events.) As Support has no clue about what is wrong (how surprising) I don't think anyone can help us.
  8. That is very weird. To me it shows Created: 24/Mar/19 4:01 PM Updated: 08/Apr/19 5:00 PM Resolved: 27/Mar/19 2:28 PM And why can't I add a comment? [EDIT] Doh! I just checked "Transitions" and it shows as accepted alright.
  9. Report to Whirly, as Jewell and I did. Yes, for some reason they closed the JIRA shortly after more people started complaining.
  10. Here are just a few: http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Cervera/123/118/41 http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Weiland/116/116/40 http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Kolchak/122/93/35 http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Makarov/116/155/36 (these are all Magnum regions) http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Warrumbungles/204/114/30 http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/West Haven/128/128/27 (LeTigre regions) [EDIT] You better be flying when trying the first group because they are water regions.
  11. Just a quick note, Aisha... I can't say that EEP isn't the culprit, but I have to remind you that it had been on the RC Channel for quite some time and none of this was happening. Many Linden water sims are on the RC Channel and it hadn't been this bad on crossings as it became lately. Nevertheless, yesterday I did the Leeward Cruising Club Sunday cruise without any issues, on Firestorm, latest release. Are bad crossings related to the TP issue? I don't think they are, but what I think doesn't matter at all to solve the problem(s). Something is wrong for sure, and it's up to the Lindens to figure out what it is. What is required from us is reporting as detailed as possible our experience, not guessing what may or may not be causing the issues. [EDIT] Just one more thing for those having issues with Firestorm: I ALWAYS, ALWAYS perform clean installs, no matter if the Firestorm team says it's not needed, and never, ever had any problems with it but those that are due to some known programme bugs (not even all of them.)
  12. All viewers are affected, I believe. Wait, a friend posted to a sailing group that the the Cool VL Viewer "has cured that problem almost completely" (quoting her.) http://sldev.free.fr/ According to my friend, you must ignore any warnings when installing, if you are willing to try it. I don't think that viewer will make any difference because the issue comes and goes. I keep using Firestorm and I can tell you that I wasn't disconnected yesterday all day nor today so far.
  13. Check this JIRA: https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/BUG-226577
  14. Just one final note to close my chapter, in case someone thinks LL has a good commercial strategy... A good commercial strategy isn't only about good marketing, it's that combined with a solid product. The marketing is there but SL is anything but a solid product. Happy customers sell more than any marketing campaign costing loads of money. Good marketing only attracts people to try a given product but if what they get isn't exactly what they expected when they stumbled on the advertisements, they will not only drop it as they also will tell their friends it's not worth even trying.
  15. We can't live without the real world, so we have to deal with it. We can live without SL, though... 😎
  16. You have a good point there. Maybe. I'm sure you noticed before that I don't have the technical knowledge — not even close — to discuss any of what you wrote, but I understand the general idea. Like many thousands of people who struggle in/with SL, I am a normal user who pays for a product and is tired of the degraded experience offered in return, and sees its manufacturer covering it up with powders and lotions hoping to attract new customers and/or keeping the existing distracted for a little longer. I have been in SL for a bit more than 7 years now. Does it look better? Yes, it does look much better than it did when I joined, there is no doubt about it. Does it WORK better? No. I believe that SL is still alive because its user base average age is quite high, possibly around 50 years old, and some are even disabled. Young people have no patience for SL, and there is so many offer around... Youngsters, will try it for a while and move on to the next game as soon as they experience the first serious issue. Yes, for them SL is just one more game... And I believe that is why SL has been slowly declining. Has LL ever given any deep thoughts about it? About a working commercial strategy? I'm sure they did, but they should have noticed at some point that their initial one stopped working and they should do what must be done. And what must be done is not Sansar, not for the next 10 years. Simply because in 10 years those who are now 50 years old will be 60, and surely most won't be interested in starting it all over again — I guess they (me) will resume to watch tv... As for young people, Sansar is just a weird product among thousands of cool games. Yes, those who now are young will be less young in 10 years so maybe Sansar will "capture" some of them. But the thing is, can it survive for 10 years? And who knows what will happen during that period of time? Has LL put themselves in my "shoes" and take the approach of a dumb user who thinks it's fun to put some prims together and build stuff or just need a little fantasy in their boring life but what they get is just an hard time trying to do simple things like buying clothes that make the avatar look cool? Or try things they would never do in the real world, like sailing or flying aircrafts? I'm sure they did in the beginning, and that's why SL was created, but I doubt they have for years now. So SL mostly became a bunch — a large bunch — of frustrated stubborn people who insist in hoping that some day SL will work better than more or less OK half of the time. What is LL going to do about that hope? Keep frustrating it until there is no one left? [EDIT] Progressively moving SL to the cloud can be the opportunity to finally replace obsolete stuff by what may work better than more or less OK half of the time. See? I'm hopeful. Hopeful but not really believing it.
  17. So, instead, is it better spending those hours adding new features that eventually will work only more or less OK and may collide with the existing, messing it for a lot more hours? Of course that SL is a very complex system, and it's why serious consideration should be taken before adding new features. Saying that it's a too old, too complex system to fix the existing can't be entirely true, it's just an excuse for not doing what should be done, which is having it work better than only more or less OK half of the time. If the existing is too old, why insisting in adding even more complexity to it? Will new features sell a product better if it only works more or less OK half of the time? Possibly, but not at all in the long term because at some point most people will feel they had been cheated. Cosmetics may help hiding the outer appearance temporarily, but they do not cure existing diseases.
  18. You don't wanna know what kind of ears some Lindens have these days... 😝
  19. No, they are not. An example is The Leeward Cruising Club, with cruises every Tuesday and Sunday. And there are several other groups organizing sailing cruises. On Saturdays, there is at least one group that I know of organizing road cruises. And some other for aviation. Surely there will be more...
  20. I've just made it safely back home after travelling through 82 sims on my hovercraft, at an average speed of 18.5 kts. Only in two cases I went through the same sim twice (or else I wouldn't be able to get back to base.) I had no issues at all, despite performing many risky crossings (e.g. not at all perpendicular to sims border.) I didn't spot anyone sailing or flying, , though, not even at Blake Sea, only the "usual crowd" moored at Sirens Isle. But I did see a couple abandoned boats. I also had no TP failures today so far.
  21. Region name and approximate time, please? That is valuable info for LL, as they can check the log...
  22. Indeed! And like you I'm now suspecting that part of the problem may be with the login service due to so many login attempts after so many disconnects. But the thing is, what is causing teleport failures and such bad sim crossings? LL's network issues? Redundant code delaying the hand-off? I have no idea, I can only tell what I am experiencing. Almost always, I try re-logging as quickly as possible at the place where I was disconnected (so that I can retrieve the vehicle I was on, if SL hasn't "eaten" it.) So, as I wrote above, typically the system tells me the region is still logging me out and that I should retry within a few minutes, but that's not what is happening now. [EDIT] I mentioned this in a previous post to this thread, but let me remind you: many times, despite trying to login at the last place I was, I end up being logged at one I previously were. Sometimes, that can be 3, 4 or 5 regions back.
  23. As weird as it may sound, recovering from my disconnects has been much different. Even different from those in the past. Typically, when we are disconnected due to a bad crossing or TP failure, it takes at least a couple minutes before we can log back in, and we either get a message telling us to retry within a few minutes or the exact time when we can do it again. But now, every time I am disconnected I can log back in immediately. I mean, I close Firestorm, start it again as soon as it closes and log in without any delay.
  24. What you wrote just adds to my suspicion that EPP may not be the culprit. One thing is sure: there's something very wrong, and it's becoming ridiculous. [EDIT] And it seems to have gotten worse — I can't now bypass the TP issue the way I explained a few posts back nor any other way. [EDIT 2] Inara Pey has the available info about it: https://modemworld.me/2019/04/02/2019-sl-user-groups-14-1-sug-teleport-disconnects/
