  1. Hi Sassy, at the top of the web page go to "My Settings" then you will have different tabs to choose. Click on Social Connect. You can then pick the badge layout and browse your computer for a couple of images. To make a small picture of you inside the bigger badge picture, click on the Avatar tab and choose one of your uploaded pictures and save. Here is a helpful topic that will may help you also: http://community.secondlife.com/t5/Your-Avatar/How-to-create-a-cool-forum-avatar-badge/m-p/707025#M190 Hope this helps.
  2. Sorry you got such rude replies, this is almost as bad as when videos are posted and the smart remarks fly. As Loralinda said, Perrie's post with the link should help you. Good Luck.

From my experience there are also a population of non-native English speakers who would have problems with reading a lot of information in Engllish. So I try to boil information down to the simplest terms. If I can, I then back it up with links, so they can investigate further. I agree, but would like to add, it may be easy for many of us to search and read an article and get something out of it. I do feel that there are people on here that have some disabilities which prevent them from doing what we feel as normal reading and learning. I do not consider these people lazy, nor do I know about them enough to say " you will learn more by reading and being to search things for yourself next time" I am not speaking of Residents that are non-native English speakers only, I am referring to real handicaps. I don't feel that they don't deserve a better answer, that sounds offensive to me. We take things for granted many times and if I can help someone by using a picture or giving more details, I will. I don't think just because someone has real difficulties (too many to name) that they don't deserve to be here in sl nor do I feel should we expect them to be not deserving of help. edt typos edit again I think I know why this question came up from answering a different thread. Kindness, tolerance and understanding goes a long way. I don't feel everyone refuses to learn, we can't judge what is difficult for them, or impose our beliefs on what we did to help others will work in all situations.
  4. I have to log into the forums separate from my dashboard. Sometimes I go to type my name to log in and the password field is already filled, thought I have never used the save password function with explorer or sl. I can be logged into my dashboard and the forum and it's hit or miss if I am signed in when I open another window to go to Marketplace. This has happened to me since I can remember and what bothers me is I have never used "Save Password" for anything.

I wait that she makes a thread about Gor and how she became a slave without her will. That could be a great follow-up thread to this one, because she could bash RLV (a third-party-viewer feature!) too in that one. She said she was "friends" with this group and she knew they did some unsavory things prior and they gave her the viewer. I don't see that as being a victim accepting candy from strangers and maybe it was someone getting mad and plan gone wrong. She also claimed she couldn't go in world anymore then 3 posts later she says she does.

This is our resident crybaby and complainer who bitches about everything. Perhaps they are going to need some cheese? We are tired of the same old BS from you! ETA: GothGirl, if you are so worried about your personal information and such...may I suggest that you turn off your computer, unplug it from the wall, then smash it to pieces. While you are at it, cut up your bank and credit cards too and only use cash. She also changes her story on each thread too. I D She also changes her story on each thread too, seems she can't remember which drama story she had used in the previous post she made. This is almost similar to this post she made 2 days ago. http://community.secondlife.com/t5/General-Discussion-Forum/Would-it-be-possible/td-p/2043921 I can't understand why she constantly posts about griefing and security and then spits out ideas of how to do it, that's a swift move. I recall awhile ago, she had mentioned that there was some friendship gone wrong with a certain group of people. I don't know why her posts stay here. As I stated in her thread 2 days ago all this obsession with griefing makes me really wonder about certain things.. Heck no I wouldn't click a link either from this person. I think your ETA is a good idea and I am not being rude or sarcastic, seriously this is a problem for someone to post the same stuff over and over and to actually give such ridiculous in depth details on how to...

I am pretty sure that I would not stupidly get Phished by entering my password on a site stupidly, after all for years I have warned about phishing, I am not that stupid, I check every link in my email, I check browser hijackers, and web address everytime before entering information. 2. If my account was compromised it was either compromised by one of the following. 1. Keylogger in a TPV the account hack happend within 72 hours after doing a viewer update seemed fishy after all I believe this may have been how I was compromised, I rolled back and completely wiped the viewer from my system the TPV may have been compromised at the time I download the viewer as it sat there for 2 months before I bothered to update it. 2. Brute-Force, while I doubt it it could be possible when I use a passwordI use something like PÄ$sW04D*!(A ^A)+ something hard as this but not password of course. ( These videos are on YouTube Showing people how to do it.) 3. Linden Lab stupidly resetting it for someone I doubt this would happen of course but there are things that do raise concerns to this, such as things I do have documented evidence on in the past that happend. For example a person calls Linden Lab, and knows the Real Life users name, email, Phone Number, and address, which is actually all very easy to legally obtain if the person is a close friend on the internet, or done any transactions via PayPal for example, and that person has not logged in claims to have forgotten secret questions, and doesn't have the email anymore but says they remember three friends and names a bunch of friends they know they are friend with. Yes as I said I am not that stupid to get phished via stupid attempts, I also know that if I was compromised it was one of the three talked about above, but I know that after doing the safe-guard viewer roll-back, and checked my system for keyloggers sending information online I have found none yes I use Comm-View 6 to check every packet, and IP address my computer connects to. What we need is Two Step IP Verification, for all Second Life users, not only will this protect peoples accounts, but it will block all them griefers who also try to grief others using one day old accounts if they use a fake email address because they won't be able to use IP Verification. I did submit a JIRA, it was foward to Security Team, and Closed After, we need more people to petition for this, had there have been two-step verification my account would have never have been compromised, and god knows what they did to others using my name in SL, its the reason I don't play anymore. "1. If it is a link do not click on it, as the way I think my account was compromised" http://community.secondlife.com/t5/General-Discussion-Forum/Account-Hacked-Compromised/m-p/1748085/highlight/true#M84589 Shall we apply Occam's Razor to your problem? Ya know.. lol that's what I said before, like a revolving door with answers. I don't understand why so much detail on how a person can grief has to be written in each chapter of the OP's book.

KEVP314 wrote: Okay, but I get the impression that the people who come to SL and just try to make themselves happy and ignore the feelings of othe people, or the people who the only thing that makes them happy is making other people UNhappy, they seem to get thrown out of sims, don't make friends, etc etc. Then they don't enjoy SL, and they feel like they are "losing the game". But when I make it my goal to improve other people's enjoyment, I feel like I am "winning the game". And I'm beginning to find similar things happening in RL. That game still baffles me, though. Incredibly huge learning curve. KEVP I understand what you mean now. SL, to me anyway, is a relaxing way for ME to enjoy my RL "downtime" (free time when work or any other priorities don't need my attention) . Along the way I have made some very good friends and a very very special person I enjoy spending my time with here as well as an outlet for creativity. Over time, I no longer look at is a way to enjoy my "downtime" but to be with the people I care about here, like I would in RL. I don't look at the people I am with here as not in my RL because they are, just in a different way especially distance and time zones. I don't try and make anyone else's experience here bad or unhappy. I am not here to mediate the community and it's up to people to make what they want out their time here. If you choose to spend your time helping others improve their enjoyment, that's up to you and a nice gesture. I do disagree with you stating you are winning the game by doing this and others are losing the game for whatever reason. I don't see how you can compare winning and losing to signing into this world, but you have your own view. Yes, SL can have a difficult learning curve for some and there are many people who try and help new Residents with that and it includes this forum.

KEVP314 wrote: Okay people, from my experiences with my various alts in SL, and from reading this forum, I think I may be able to suggest a working hypothesis about what the object of the game is. This is just a suggestion, so nobody go crazy . . . I think the object of SL is to try to make sure other players are enjoying playing SL. I am beginning to wonder whether that may also be the object of RL as well . . . I am not sure what you are saying. I don't find an object to playing a game here and I am not a player in sl I don't view sl as a game, It's a world where I can see people that I enjoy being with, interact with and do many things. I still am trying to understand what you mean about alts, this forum and understanding playing the game. Can you elaborate a little more on your point?
  10. Ahhh... I see, You are right, I won't bother when people have nothing at all. makes sense.
  11. Syo Emerald wrote: Locke Nider wrote: Syo Emerald wrote: SL is not RL. You can't compare it for various reasons. One is that there aren't any groups or profiles naturally integrated in the real world, so there isn't even the option to poke a person and see what he/she likes. Your example would mean, that you leave your profile completely blank, because hey, in RL I can't right-click you.... Well, nothing wrong with someone leaving their profile blank if they don't want people learning anything about them. My profile is completely blank for that very reason. Well, I don't start to talk to people with empty profiles (excluding newbies). I've made the experiance that its better this way. I can understand about not wanting to talk to people with blank profiles, but as long as they have something about them even in their picks, their choice of hiding their groups may be for good reason. I feel you can miss out on meeting some nice people that way. I don't mind if groups are hidden. I understand the privacy reason because it had even affected the rentals we had and that's a point to draw the line. All for some delusional jealousy in someone's mind.

  14. Simple fun to me on a Sunday is... to start my day later, being able to sleep in and read on my deck enjoying my view. edit - oh in sl it would be sailing
  15. I hide my groups for privacy, nothing more. I am not ashamed of any groups I am in. I used to have my groups visible but this wonderful person, her friends and army of alts found nothing better to do but stalk me and bf in the groups we were in and see when we were last logged on, etc. to play immature games at their finest. He hides his too.
  16. Hi Kotty I can't go to the slurl from the marketplace page as it never is accurate if I try to get there from the page. what I do, is hover my cursor over the text that says "in world store" and on the bottom of the web page it will show where the link takes you. I write down the region name and cords and then open the mini map in world and type in the region name and cords and teleport from there. For some reason I can't do it from the marketplace page so this works for me. As others have said, some of those links are broken or no longer exist because there are merchants who no longer have an in world store. Hope this helps.

I now note you cannot fly over properties because of them ... surly I cannot be on my own thinking we want a free world with no restrictions What do you mean by restrictions? I may not be understanding you. As far as a free world with no restrictions, you would like to explore other peoples private land? No that's not called free world if that's what you are referring too, it's called I don't want to pay and use others stuff I have spent thousands in sl and I don't find it unfair to not let people on my land. I am not here to pay for anyone else's enjoyment. There are many public regions and regions people allow access to anyone, go explore those. If you meant restrictions on waterways and airspace I can understand that, but as someone else pointed out, ban lines do not go up past 80M unless you are actually banned from the region. You can fly over that. Protected waterways, I have found that most people allow enough area for others to pass through. Free world does mean just that, I am free to choose who I share my land with and you are free to choose to buy land or use public areas.

I've used a prepaid Visa card for online transactions, but Linden doesn't seem to accept these. Does anyone know a reputable Linden dealer that will quickly send the Lnidens, because my tier is do and unless I get this resolved quick my property will be lost. Paypal isn't an option. Just need someone who accepts Visa and gets the Lindens out right away. I only use PayPal not sure about what TPV's after the TOS changes do business with LL now. PayPal accepts a prepaid Visa/MC not sure if it actually considered to be "verified" as LL requires your PayPal account to be to use for purchase, but you may want to see if that's an option.
  19. Yes we do, someone who interacts with the crowd in some way, even small way is far more entertaining and fun than someone spinning music and acting like a statue. I feel people go to clubs not just for the music (we could listen to youtube, cd's etc on our own computer) but to enjoy the personality of the dj also
  20. ooh sorry Dillon I thought you meant talking on the mic!
  21. Crim Mip wrote: I appreciate a DJ who puts forth some effort, but those who continuously talk over the music or spend 5 minutes giving the entire damn history for each song before playing it drive me insane. The music should always be the focus. The DJ is there to enhance the experience where they can without intruding on it. I am not a fan of someone who talks so long, just someone, as Dillon pointed out, interacts with crowd and talking a moment about a song makes it that it's not just some random play.
  22. Thanks, I really didnt' know what SAM and virtual dj did. There are many dj's in sl and most of them do nothing for me, meaning they don't have the personality to entertain while playing. I think many rely on the host for that and again, I haven't been much impressed with many of them either. Yes, many people go the "cheap" route and it's quite unethical and I do think that many like to be dj's for some kind of "OMG you're a dj" and I really don't get that lol. There are dj's I have followed to different venues because they are natural at their craft and it's fun and entertaining to be where they are.
  23. Dillon Levenque wrote: Malanya wrote: Aren't dj's expected to provide all their own stuff, and streams, don't they cost? I know thiis has been answered more than once already, but yes. The music offered is the DJ's whole reason for doing what he or she does, and the good ones know everything about the music they play. That's what make the experience so much fun. Hear a song, mention in Local that the bass is really good and learn from the DJ that the bass player was a stand-in for that recording: his normal gig was with Pink Floyd. Or maybe make a reference to a song you were reminded of and hear it three songs later, because the DJ was paying attention to Local. True, I never really thought of it that way but you are right, when the dj is not just throwing out generic lines, it makes you feel more connected.

Quite frankly I think we agree on that point. So what you could have said is: Disputes that happen in the forums .. should stay in the forums Not in a court, it's a forum, and if it's looked at that way my "opening argument" was many posts back.. an opinion of what my opinion is worth is fine. I rather like the way I said the phrase "what happens in the forums, stays in the forums" I do believe that it's personal choice, it's just not mine. In this case IMO, the poster did follow the OP in world and it was a form of aggressive action, I say this because of all the posts that showed the anger and hypocritical side of the person that replied to the OP.
