  1. As everyone has told you there is no real privacy in sl. The most privacy is to be on an estate region and set it to non public. You can also in parcel settings, make sure that you don't have the box ticked that says "see and chat with other residents on this parcel" avatars wont show up just objects. However; there is a 80M limit I believe if someone is flying over the parcel they can see you. Dots on a map or names on radar aren't the same as someone camming in on avatars, but people will be people and there is only so much you can do. I wouldn' let it bother me too much as it's my avatar they are seeing, creepy as it is what they are doing, but it's not my rl window
  2. lol may be interesting who we pick up along the way.. I'm game The umbrella drinks are here, chilled and ready to gulp down!
  3. I know and can't wait for your gallery to be open. I am recording your words, lol, so that swimsuit better be ready!
  4. LOL, it could have been due to the resolution setting on your other smaller monitor. I am not sure though. Isn't it fun to play with sliders? @Trin you're fine, stop lol edit: due to my inability to type
  5. Exactly, Perrie, and no matter what someone is is always going to be left out and no one here can control that or give counsel on that . I can understand questions if a person didn't understand about the contest, that type of question to me at least comes across clear. I just didn't understand all the posts about people in other places not being worthy, they are being treated wrong, etc.
  6. After you and Trin have your dinner (her garden is absolutely beautiful btw) you both come to my house and we will sail, then jump in the water and watch the waves hit our screens *hugs you and your new pc*

Seems some people can't read or work for Alienware. To the OP: I agree and I already noticed that. If someone treats you 2nd class, just don't buy their products. So for me I see no problem. Apparently my first post on this giving some pretty valid reasons for this sailed right over you head. I see non US websites all the time offering contests that US citizen's can't enter. Do I get upset about it? No. I see contests in the US I can't enter because I don't qualify for one reason or another. Do i get upset about ? No. I don't see any people from Rhode Island on here complaining. Contests put restrictions on who can enter them all the time. That's why there are qualification rules. If you feel like that makes you second class that is more your problem than anyone else's. Children think that everything should be on a level playing field then they mature and realize life is not fair and that is not the way it works. Who ever told you life was fair? Life is too short to get worked up over such petty stuff. This is not about us or non us websites. It's about SL with citizens all over the world. You obviuosly aren't aware that SL is american but has citizens everywhere. SL events should take that into consideration. So this is obviously about 1st and 2nd class treatment. Of course the world isn't fair. But nor am I. I will draw my conclusions and it will influence my further actions. So it's negative advertisement in this case. Congrats to Alienware and LL as the hoster. I am very aware of the international population of SL as my friends in SL live in places all over the world. You are wrong about it not being a US vs Non US company website promotion. This is not a SL event. It is a contest run by a separate company who set the rules. LL has no control over that. You don't enter on a SL website. You have to go to another website entirely. The contest is an obvious marketing promotion for Alienware not SL. You don't even have to be a SL resident to enter. It is your prerogative to choose where you spend your money just as it is Dell/Alienware's to choose who to market their products to through contests such as this. Amethyst, all these posts started out stating that Residents in other countries didn't count, a few of them changed their tune to it was a bad way to promote and I could go on. I am not sure how many people understand what marketing is and how it works and yes, leaves some demographics out, for many reasons. I don't understand the thought of 2nd class citizen even playing a part in this? How can anyone come to that conclusion? MANY companies use marketing strategies that don't include the whole wide world even if cross promoting with a company that has global users, wouldn't you agree? To even think that having separate contests in all these other countries makes my head spin, I don't know if people understand what costs go into a contest, the prize, even if high priced, is the cheapest cost.
  8. Ohhhh here is where you posted you received your new pc.. lol .. I found your thread about the CoolVL viewer and posted there. So congrats again! You deserved this YAY YOU!!
  9. YAY!!!! So happy for you ... Hey how does that water look.. edit: I don't use CoolVL but had to give you a big YAY!
  10. SELL it to me? hmmm... only if you click the link first to enter bank details then we have a deal!
  11. The Op seemed to feel different in another thread before this one was created. If people feel 2nd class due to laws and not educate themselves that is their option.
  12. I understand, but asking and wondering why is one thing, but to act as though people in other countries don't count is just ridiculous. That was my point. I don't get joy out of people being excluded I feel being informed before all the "hate" words come out to play a little education in the contest or whatever the issue is helps. Knowledge goes a long way for all of us. edit: If the contest was not available to US residents, and I wanted to enter it, I would find out why before I started posting stuff about LL or any company having this false vendetta about why I could not enter.
  13. Oh I know and I agree, I don't like to see others excluded but it's laws and we can't change that. It was the way the posts came across as if LL only cares about US residents and we have some special privilege that make us count more. That's so far from the truth. I don't people stop to think on how their own country affects things they can participate in. p.s, that Nigerian guy hasn't sent you the half million, I may have received that promise email first.
  14. Senobia Xenga wrote: Are you wearing an RLV relay that's prohibiting you from doing those things? Sounds like you might be. I believe you are right. I would bet since the OP was able to do all the things unable before when a new avi was made it was some RLV. An Object with RLV maybe they don't realize can prevent you from TP, not allowed to see chat, keep your avi in a certain area, etc. Otherwise I would go with cache and possibly connection, especially if it was wireless.
  15. Yes I am sure they could have, but cross promoting companies is how it usually works. I would say that if either of these companies were based somewhere other than the US it would be the same thing - marketing. To act like LL only cares about US residents is wrong. I said it before, I want to see an example of how LL treats US residents any better than anyone else around the globe?
  16. Ciaran Laval wrote: I'm a bit bemused as to why you seem to think that people asking why this competition is only available to some US residents is bashing the US, it's not, it's a perfectly understandable question regarding a competition that is advertised on MOTD login and the adverts in this forum where it doesn't mention the US restriction until you follow the links. I'd wager that if US residents were excluded, and let's not forget that Alienware and Dell are global brands, there would be people posting complaints. As it stands the competition is only available to US residents, I don't have a problem with that, I do think it's a poor choice of promotion for SL10B, but exclusivity to the USA is not something I have a problem with. Well first of all I don't recall people asking, it was a rant and how unfair it is to them and how LL doesn't care about Residents in other countries. That's just silly. Please keep in mind where companies are based before acting like it was an unjust. To me it's perfectly understandable, see, this is why, I am in the US and I would not even blink an eye if I found out my country or state was not eligible to participate in something. Many contests, Credit cards, all kinds of offers or contests do exclude certain US states when the contest is based in the US. I would think you would lose that wager because most US citizens understand why the US or their state would be excluded. Let me ask you this, how many times when you are signing up for something, or even inquiring, you go through many steps before that fine print hits you? A lot I would think as I have experienced that myself. If you don't have a problem with the contest being available to US residents only (with the exception of Rhode Island, a US state) but how SLB10 marketed this, then why did your post start out so conflicting? Read the first lines of your post. edit phrase
  17. I believe it's more than just sometimes but that's just my guess
  18. Trinity Yazimoto wrote: Well there are ranters everywhere on the planet... And also bad readers who cant read the whole page and then aknowledge that LL is not the organizer of this contest. So rants have to go to the right place (Dell website) if needed, not here. Like if it was usual that website contest were international lmao... like if sending my mail a computer was free of charge lol.... Things that can be normally easily understood...but well, for some, ranting is a daily activity that probably prevent a normal use of the brain.... (On a side note, i know some big ranters from US aswell lol... ) @ Vania, i absolutely adore Calvin and Hobbes:smileywink:Thanks for this strip. LOL is that like type before you read? and who are the big ranters from the US lmao, do I know them personally? haha
  19. Vania Chaplin wrote: OK. I am Brazilian and cannot participate in this, so what? I don't buy tickets for the local lottery, simply because the chances of win is not worth the time spent to buy one... Of course, I would complete the form to participate on this one.. I can't... I am not loosing a second of dream 'cause of it. This time world is not unfair in my favour, so better put my mind in other things. I don't think it is a big deal unless people make a big deal about it. As you stated you don't play the lottery, either do I. I also would not care about a contest that I could not enter for being in another country or here in the US, in a state or states that have laws that don't allow the state to participate. It would not bother me even if I dreamed of having whatever the prize was, there is just so much more to life and being petty on something I can't control, it isn't worth it. As you said, put your mind in other things because of things beyond our control, it doesn't mean it's unfair. It's life.
  20. BrainPhrozen Woodsheart wrote: No people in other countries are apparently not worthy Are you SERIOUS? I would suggest you educate yourself how contests run and rules and laws of countries before you join the poor me bandwagon.
  21. I wonder if this contest was offered in another country how many would feel it was unfair if US residents weren't included.
  22. Madeline Blackbart wrote: It's wonderful that it worked for your father but I still HIGHLY suggest not perscribing ANYTHING to anyone over SL. Someone doing there own research is fine and there's nothing wrong with it. I think the fact that you think vitamin C cures cold (which is like the chicken soup cures colds wives tale) says a lot about weither you're in a place to prescribe people medication. Studies show it has little to no effect on treating the common cold. go ahead google it. Yes Meications prescribed by doctors Have side effects and a doctor has years of training to know the likely hood of those side effects happeniing. Do they still sometimes happen? Of course. But by having medical knowledge on it you can reduce the chances of it. Having none and prescribing something? It's like taking a shot in the dark and hoping it lands. Sometimes it will sometimes it WILL KILL SOMEONE and you literally have no idea which will happen! I suppose my question is do you want to be legally liable for that? Because by prescribing anything or suggesting anyone take ANYTHING you are. Czari was not prescribing anything just sharing some information. It's true that Doctors don't care much about supplements and they support pharmaceutical companies. Supplements, herbs, amino acids.. the list is long, have shown improvement with many conditions. I believe she also gave the OP a very educated answer regarding the way her presence would seem to work best in sl given what she wanted to accomplish.
