I reported him too btw and was in live chat But well we all know now how LL works So i am on my own This guy stands in people their bedrooms and attacked me a couple times now And i just cant get him out of the sim. He even appears on parcels were he is banned. I am trying now for over an hour to eject and ban him but he is still here He appears just a few meters further again. He is not ghosting (wich i thought at first) because he also walked towards me. Anybody have an idea what i can do to get this perverd out of my sim? Thanks in advange Take his name out #1 of your post. Live chat won't really help you need to file an AR. You banned him from your parcel, but he needs to be banned from estate control panel. Do you own the sim or just renting a parcel? I would AR him and Ban him using the estate controls. You can mute him also. The other residents on the sim should AR too.
  2. Hi Sephina, some mesh outfits come with Lola Appliers. Depending on what size you used and your av size for mesh sizing you may have to makwe a few adjustments anyways beyond the "standard slider numbers" I would think that Torso Muscle would be the slider, breast is usually higher and body fat would be down by the belly button and a bit lower. I you are using a "S" Mesh object body fat should be 3 -7 on the slider. "M" mesh object should be from 6- 11 body fat. No matter what standard sizing usually has to be tweaked and the slider number will coincide with the other numbers you have for the size mesh you are using and shape. I haven't seen any clothes that I don't have to mess around with a lot then save a copy of my shape with the outfit name so I don't constantly have to change. As another poster said, sometimes you have to use extra alphas from another designer. I still wont compromise on my original shape as it took a long time until I was happy with it, so for any mesh I wear ( and I do love mesh) I make a copy of my shape with the outfit name. edit: your outfit has an applier hud for the top

Hi Jennifer, did you want the items to look as if they were full or did you want plates and drinks that you touch and it gives an object to wear/rez? I sent you a PM Malanya

KapaCorn wrote: I think what the OP is trying to say is if you enable "Offline Messages" that any and all messages will be forwarded to your email even if your in-world messages have been capped.. I think when people send notecards its not meant to be annoying but to ensure an important message is received. In my experience those who send notecards usually don't have any issue with a more timely response. Not everyone likes receiving messages offline so its hard to say thats a viable solution. I personally think if your a business owner you should have all windows of communication open and not let something as simple as a notecard take the sparkle from your day I believe he is, but if you don't respond with 5 days from email you can't reply any longer also there is a character limit when replying to IM from email and that includes the character count from the original IM sent to you unless you delete their text. Everyone does have their choice of communication that suits them best and yes I wouldn't let that ruin my day, but maybe it really bothers the OP and who are we to say it's not a real aggravation to him
  5. I agree with you, my IM's have always gone to email and I do get capped sometimes because of how many messages I have received and when you sign in (yes after reading them on your email) you get a message stating you have reached the amount of messages before they start dropping off. I never took notecards when doing rentals so I could see how urgent the need was and they would get capped even as I answered them back by email. edit typos This is the link I originally thought I posted Capped IM's if you scroll down to the bottom it shows the amount you can receive and if getting them offline what you need to know (not directed at you )
  6. Phil Deakins wrote: Malanya wrote: If you remove estate manager rights, I would bet the people would know something was up so I doubt that would be effective. This forum can be seen by anyone too, so who knows who has read it that is part of your staff. If all estate manager rights are removed, but not mentioned here, then it's very unlikely that a non-manager culprit will realise that the test is on. So, if the problem stops, the chances are it was an estate manager, if the problem doesn't stop, then it was certainly someone else. Either way, unless LL finds that it's an exploit, the only way to deal with it is to do what many have said in this thread and remove all estate manager rights for a while and see what happens. Perhaps the owner has already done it. I understand Phil, it's just that I don't understand how a Linden can be banned with region controls. Yes I do understand removing people from estate rights, but I think only LL and their testing staff will be able to find out what's going on when they check the integrity of the region. They will give a summary of what they "think" could have possibly happened without naming residents names. It could be an issue where a staff member is acting out because of something but they could also be using something else besides estate rights. Who knows, maybe the OP will never get to the bottom (I hope he does) and this will not be solved in a satisfactory way.

Perrie Juran wrote: Madeliefste Oh wrote: Voltaure wrote: I know a lot of methods to verify PayPal without credit card or even a bank account, and they all work, but it DOESN'T MEAN THAT THEY ARE SAFE. Is that where the pain comes from? You studied the methodes to verify a Paypal account without credit card or bank account, You tried them out and then got banned for Paypal? This is where I call bull dinkies also. Unless it is different elsewhere than in the U.S., PayPal verification works by them sending two small sums of money to an account you link them to and then you report back to them the amount of the deposits. I don't believe you could even start the verification process until you have linked an account. So yes, anything else would be a hack and if the OP thinks PayPal doesn't have safe guards they might want to guess again. I'm pretty sure that PayPal is an MSB and would have to comply also with FinCen regulations which cover a wide area of fraud control. And while I have seen some News articles about people having problems with PayPal, I also always wonder what is it the people aren't telling us. eta for clarity People seem to want to blame PayPal for their issues with LL billing, look at how many bank cards, not just prepaid, but debit cards tied to your checking account or a credit card, and I am referring to US customers, I believe it has something to do with LL and not the financial institutions. I agree, it has hurt many people with the TPE change but as you said it adds up to actually millions of real dollars. I do empathize with those that are having to run in circles trying to buy/sell Lindens and how it may affect their sl enjoyment or their business. I do not, however; feel bad for the people that just come with a very negative attitude to complain and lecture on the rules they may not know everything about. Those are the people IMO that don't want to try and find a solution they just want to whine and blame.
  8. Many people don't come back to say what the outcome is and it's rude as rude can be, yet these will be the same people complaining if no one answered their question. How ironic. Zipping my mouth on this particular one though.
  9. I won't bother quoting that long list which part is inaccurate. Verification by having a bank account overrides a credit card. Think about what you have to do to open a bank account as opposed to obtaining a credit card. I realize that other countries (I am in the US) has different policies on obtaining a credit card but a bank verification is more relevant. I am a PayPal merchant for many years and a business member. I have, once again never had any issues with people using PayPal from all over the world using PayPal to purchase. Yes, there are countries that PayPal does NO financial business with but it's not because of PayPal being a problem it's a security issue with that country and as a merchant I am advised by PayPal to take certain steps to protect me from fraud with certain countries. It depends on the volume of sales with PayPal as well as being a Visa/MC merchant on your percentage rate. If It was such a devious non secure payment option then I wonder how it has managed to stay around so long, be trusted by so many and grow as big as it has. Do you realize how long PayPal has been a financial service? PayPal has pretty strict use agreement so maybe you should be clear on what you are reading. They protect many from fraud. If there is a lot of activity on your PayPal account that is not normal to your use they will suspend and investigate, it's for your benefit. Probably not. LL is a US based company and unless you are clear on the laws of the US and even the laws of the state of California (why yes, states have different laws and liabilities that is specific to them) I wouldn't post why LL had to change the use of TPE because there are really laws that they have to abide by and some people just can't grasp that. Aren't we over all this PayPal stuff yet? Or maybe another 4 threads will make a difference....

I've tried a relog all that showed up was the two missing wyrmwood fairy eggs that I had taken into my inventory earlier that day. So I had decided to wait a whole day, still nothing and they aren't on the sim I had rezzed them on as I've tried using the built in area search in my viewer (firestorm, the newest version) a few times, still nothing. They were giftboxes that contained gift cards to the Arbor Restaurant. Does anyone know of another way to help me find my missing items? If after you tried area search and didn't have luck have you looked in your lost and found folder or search by name using a filter in your inventory with that time of day? Sometimes no copy items that I rez and don't show up will go into my inventory to an odd place. You may try looking inside a prim or on the ground, depending where you rezzed it as I know of a few people I purchase from, the box flies far from the point I attempted to rez out the box and it has sometimes ended up in a wall or a large prim that is used as a platform in the sky.

If you remove estate manager rights, I would bet the people would know something was up so I doubt that would be effective. This forum can be seen by anyone too, so who knows who has read it that is part of your staff. @Alicia Griefers don't take down the whole estate all the time so it could be anybody with or without reason. The only thing is to let the region owner deal with LL because they will have more pull than you making reports. LL doesn't announce to anyone when they take action against another resident.

It's likely that you and she are using different windlight settings. I do let someone know if they're naked and i think they might not know about it, though! True, I think I have spent a good amount of time trying to match any shoe that has skin color and it can be frustrating I messaged a person that was naked in a crowded sim, they were naked for almost 10 mins lol and she snapped back that she was wearing mesh with no alpha layer. I thought well maybe her clothes didn't rez yet, but she was the only naked one there and I usually never have a problem (saying that lightly probably just jinxed myself) seeing avi's rez fairly fast.
  13. Sephina Frostbite wrote: So I was at the beach when I noticed the beautiful avi. While I was checking her out (hey I did say she was beautiful) I notices her feet were completely a different color. I know that to each his or her own so I didn't say anything but I thought if my feet were completely off, I would want someone to say something. I know people are touchy with there avi's so I was quiet but did I do the right thing? What would you have done? Madelaine McMasters wrote: If I think I'm seeing a visual oddity caused by SL and not by personal taste, I might comment on it. If the foot color mismatch was slight I'd probably have said nothing, as I see mismatched feet just about everywhere, including on myself. But if it was "completely a different color", and if I was in a gregarious mood, I might have IM'ed saying, "You've a beautiful avatar, but I think my viewer may be mis-rendering you." followed by sending them a snapshot of the color mismatch. This delivers a heartfelt compliment (you did tell us the avatar was beautiful) and allows placement of blame on SL, which is usually at fault for something. To look good in SL requires both taste and some technical familiarity, or friends willing to help. If you get a pleasant response, indicating that the person wasn't aware of the mismatch, you could then offer some advice for better matching the color. You might just make a new friend, and who doesn't want beautiful friends? ;-) Sephina, some people will be appreciative that you mentioned it and some will not. I personally would not take offensive. I look at avi's all the time as you said you do, I mean isn't that what most people do when out in a social place lol? I think that Madelaine summed it up great, start out with a compliment, who doesn't like those if you feel the need to mention something. As others have said, of course we all see avatars different on our own screens than they may see theirs with everything mentioned, hardware, windlight, etc, anything. I would think if someone spends a lot of time on their avi and most of us do, some may appreciate it because maybe it's actually mismatched and for whatever reason besides graphic cards and all else mentioned they have a hard time matching skin color. How many times have people asked for help with that and many on the forum offered to help them when inworld? Of course there will always be the person who takes offense too. BTW I don't think your thread was insignificant at all
  14. Phil Deakins wrote: Perrie Juran wrote: Phil Deakins wrote: I'm with you, Alicia. To the OP: I don't see how you can be certain that it isn't one of the estate managers doing it. If LL could find out who is doing it, they'd have told the owner, and you could be certain that it's not an employee. But, if they haven't done that, I know of no way for you to be certain that it isn't an employee. I'm not certain that LL would say who it is. I could possibly see them saying it was one of the Estate Mgrs, but I'm not sure. LL does not tell us the outcomes of AR's, nor do they get involved in Resident disputes. If LL was to name and shame the individual would go against their way of doing things. You're right, but since a Linden got involved, and got banned, I feel sure that they would inform the owner if it's an employee. I am also sure that they would inform the owner that they've found out who or what was doing it, etc. without giving a name if it's a user other than an employee. I doubt that they would just keep quiet if they found the problem and it was a person. It could always be a problem with staff, region managers and so on, that's always the first thing I would think of. As you said, the other things mentioned makes me think it's a bit more and can an estate manager ban a Linden? I don't think so unless they were using a viewer that allows over ride of controls. They just say words like "if, could have, seems like" in responses but no definite reason, just that it's been tested and if there was an issue that it's fixed. No one is going to admit there is a security get around, I highly doubt it.

Banning the estate managers over and over again is just kiddie games. This simple minds would surely have spread that knowledge already. I'd check for other possibilities: - a manager - a manager who's account is used by someone else Well, let's see... one reason is because people don't like to bring attention to themselves when griefed in such a way, I'll let you figure out why without typing it, and then you may see that that makes sense. Of course there are many possibilities, there are always possibilities. Too bad I can't post the responses I received after my sim was checked out, it would clear up some of the "doubts of TPV and what they can do"
  18. Keyeung Attis wrote: I tend to agree that what I am describing should not be possible, none the less to date this has happen five times, usually with a week or a little longer between episodes, this all started a few months ago with a griefer rezzing security orbs on the sim, these initially ejected people from the sim by way of returing them home. Again this was using disposable accounts, we locked the sim down by restricting who could rez objects and the attacks stoped for a while. The owner has been in contact with LL and were running a performance and security evaluation on the sim, they thought that this was one of the estate managers as well, until the Linden was added to the estate ban as well by person / persons unknown. Re writing a tpv to achieve this seems like a lot of effort to go to, unless there are already viewers out there that can be made to do this, I thought that tpv viewers had to meet LL aproval before they could be used, otherwise they were blocked. Regards I KNOW it can happen as it happened to me. Someone was changing one of my sims (the sim is long gone now) region controls. A linden form tech came and checked out the security of my sim, actually 2 Lindens did while I was there. There are many TPV that can do things that are not so nice, that's a fact honestly. It could very well be an estate manager but very possible not. I hope you get your issue fixed as I know how frustrating that can be. Good Luck. edit: No there are TPV out there and are not blocked by any means. There is no actual approved list, just a list of viewers LL recognizes. The only viewer LL approves is the official viewer.
  19. Keyeung Attis wrote: This has been going on for some time, and the matter has been referred to LL, periodically we are finding all of the estate managers are being placed upon the land ban list by person / persons unknown. This seems to happen around once every week or so and the sim owner has to be contacted to remove people from the estate / land ban list. I am wondering how this is even possible for some one not who is not an estate manager to bann on mass people from a sim. And more importantly what we can do about it. From my findings to date this is likely to be some one using a disposable account who is coming onto the sim and I guess using a 'griefing' tool to achieve this as everyone on the estate manages list has been individually interviewed and are trusted members or the team. Yes, this is very possible with a TPV that code has been altered. The sim owner should be able to have a Linden come and check the security of the sim.

Since Matrix have been cited, and since the OP seems to know pretty well this movie, id strongly advice to her to rewatch "Reloaded" and specially the part where the Merovingian explain so brightly the concept of action/reaction..... This is what I see that it's about drama and I won't link to any other threads. It was a comparison and insulting and everything else that was discussed. I can't stand when people come here, post , then whine when they don't like the replies. it's like trying to do damage control. I know you don't think only your opinion is valid. This was a bad topic IMO to think about virtual crime and being prosecuted for similar RL crimes. That's what I meant about flipping the words around and then all the "oh I am being jumped on, People always say this or that about my posts (it's all me me) and then the apologies. I don't know the OP either, but I do know the pattern of the post. We all have a certain pattern to our posts which is fine, just some have a need to create a fire because their rl is only a fizzled log. As I said, nothing here comes close. But I am allowing for a future in which significant harm can be delivered virtually. To proclaim that it can't ever happen is, I think, dangerous. The ethics of such futures are already being discussed. Evidence suggests that a single administration of psilocybin can have life-long effects. There is also growing evidence that virtual experiences can have effects similar to hallucinogenic drugs, as both can present surreal experiences that our brains attempt to resolve by rewiring neural pathways. Rape is one of many potentially life changing events and is not the only physchological trauma that can result in the plethora of damning consequences you've described. I'm sure we'll have new words to describe the sorts of psychological harm that may be inflicted on us in the future in ways we've not yet imagined. I'd rather we start thinking about that now, and we are. I don't believe technology will get us to the point I'm describing anytime soon, and I believe the ethical issues will be addressed along the way... but that's just a belief. Maddy, there are already, without any technology help, tons of mind harms possible... i hear you, but for me this exist already without any technology . And some are indeed extrem pain too. Of course, technology will add some more.. i dont have any doubt about this.. and even, it has already started... but as you said, these harms have different words to describe them... rape is not one of them.. i just reacted on the use of the word "rape" bec words are not innocent and using them without the right purpose can be dangerous. And i will always fight aggainst this kind of banalization. I get that, Trin. I thought I was being careful to say that I didn't think rape was possible in SL, but that there's reason to be wary about the use of technology to cause psychological harm in the future. I didn't see Staralien's OP as demeaning rape, but rather as opening up a discussion of how, as technology gets closer to our brains, it presents a challenge for us to manage. Thank you. I never intended harm and I really had no idea that so much drama would be created from my post. I knew there would be varying opinions, but I had no idea that there would be so many people that would take it so personal and attack me personally. I have been reading alot about technology and what is coming, etc. and it just got me to thinking about crime and stuff and to me, one of the worst crimes is rape. It can be worse than death as the victim is left to live with the trauma for years to come. I by no means intended to hurt anyone by wanting to discuss such a topic as I thought we could have an intelligent discussion about a topic that though it is horrific, has the potential to possibly become a reality one day. I had no idea that I would be called a troll or other names or accused of causing drama. I don't even know why I bother to post in these forums as there seems to be certain individuals who think they are the only ones with valid opinions and seem to attack those they don't agree with. Or, seem to misread everything I do post. As for me not coming back right away, I don't hang out on this forum all day and have other things I have to do. I generally will look over the forums with morning coffee. I have tried to be a part of this community, but frankly, I am tired of certain individuals that seem to come around in packs to attack everything I say and totally mis-read what I post. I won't say anything more on this topic as anything I do say, seems to be misconstrued and having any sort of conversation here is impossible. Perhaps a moderator will consider removing this thread from the forum since it apears to be so bothersome. Again, I truly meant no harm. I realize that no matter what I say, some people will read what they want, and understand nothing. Attack, attack, attack you personally. This seems to be a common phrase amongst your posts. As I said to many when people don't like the responses they get they start changing words. It seems you like to act clueless about most of your posts and claim people jumped on you. Maybe you should look at your opening line as I mentioned, seems you don't know what "Here is a can of worms I just opened" means? I doubt that. If you truly wanted to discuss something about laws and prosecution in the virtual world, there would have been many more ways to do it. It's disrespectful how you opened this thread in mine and many others minds. You can flip, switch, swing your words around but it doesn't change anything. I am sure RL kept you away from this thread until almost the last pages and waited to see what poster YOU felt backed you up. Done reading any threads, posts from you. Enjoy your sl Staralien. p.s. I am sure most posters here are not ignorant and understand more than you think.
