This hasn't been my week in the forums...lol. Want to come over to my mainland parcel - the one that is bordered by two Linden oceans? I'll enable ban lines and put up an orb on every corner and you and I can sit on the patio, sip Pina Coladas, and watch all the sailors and low flyers sent home, because I'm mean and paranoid yanno. YES!!! Please! I would love to help you engage in your mean, paranoid orb use (haha orbs smorbs, I just lock my entire sim down, selfishly of course. It's not mainland, but I don't share well ). Let me know when those Pina Colads are chilled and I am right there with ya! Edit my spelling from being overly excited
  2. Solar Legion wrote: Orca Flotta wrote: I'm going to make this as clear as possible for you Orca: You do not speak for anyone else, you only speak for yourself. I do not care what groups you are in nor what groups you created. They are meaningless here. Those lovely groups do not reflect the entrie user base, let alone the entire user base which uses vehicles. No one on this forum can speak for anyone else: The fact that you have now made the claim three times that you do shows your lack of understanding of this matter. No, it doesn't. It shows a lack of understanding on your side, sorry. No vehiclist is happy to be wiped off their path just because some stupid barbie didn't know she had a banline up. You can't tell me differently. And that's why groups like the OSP keep on sending notecards to those particular landowners. FYI: I didn't create any of the mentioned groups, they were in existence long before I joined SL. There is no "oranized community" of vehivle users. There are groups, some of which cross communicate, some of which do not. That is not a "community" - let alone "organized". Those are disparate groups. So the SL Sailing Association and the SLCG, who work in close contact with Linden Lab are not organized? That's news for me and everyone else involved in the development of SL. No, I will not "be nice" here. Your initial response to this thread and subsequent responses have shown that you believe your opinion concerning Linden Lab provided tools beyond point/targeted bans to be absolute fact. Each and every time you are presented with this, you backpedal for about half a second and then charge forward again. Enough. Ya, it's enough indeed. I have quite enough of your brickheaded - and dare I say mean - responses. For me it becomes more and more clear you don't give a wet fart for SL as a whole, as long as you can enjoy your powerplays on your land. You do not have any special right to explore anywhere in Second Life - if someone wishes to lock down their parcel or place up an object making use of Linden provided script functions to keep others off and you (or anyone else) is inconvinienced by it while trying to navigate a waterway that the parcel extends into ... Too bad. OMG, why do you need to repeat that over and over again? Even I mentioned that fact already before. Should that stop us from teaching people some fundamental stuff and work with them for the betterment of SL? Oh and so you are quite aware: The parcels I do presently have control over do not have scripted security on them at present. There is very little need for me to use them at present: My parcels are either opened up so that users may pass through or locked down to group only and white list access for non-group users. If I find that a user has bypassed the lockdown, then I will add in a scripted security system (again). Fair enough and applaudable. You seem to be quite educated on the whole affair. Unfortunately 90% of landowners aren't, and that's the reason for the many new open channels LL had to force through stupidly blocked areas. What is all of that there to protect? While it is of no concern to anyone else, my parcels are set up that way for no other reason than I simply can set them up that way. Exactly my question as well, regarding the first part. I never found anything worthy of protection in SL. The second part makes me cringe. Of course it's your right to do anything you fancy on and with your land, BUT is it good and wise? Does i make the grid a better place, does it help the commonwealth, is it socially acceptable? Do you also wipe out a whole kindergarten with your car just because you can? Nope - my understanding is perfectly sound - I understand perfectly well that no user can speak for anyone else here. That makes four times now that you have attempted to speak for others - and yes, I'm going to keep correcting you on that until it sinks in: You do not represent anyone here. Why do I need to keep reminding you that your opinion is just that? Simple: You seem to think that users who do not conform to your standards and allow you and others to explore, need to be 'educated'. No, no, no and no. No one has a right to explore a single blasted pixel of Second Life. You have a privelige which can very easily be taken away. If Linden Lab had wanted users to explore the entire "grid" they would not have given users tools (both parcel control and script function) to keep other users out of the lovely digital 'land' they offer. There is no 'education' to give to other users 'for the betterment of SL'. My Second Life experience is not made 'better' by allowing users a passthrough. Judging by the responses of a few other users to this very thread, their experiences have not exactly been made 'better' by allowing a passthrough for you either. No, the SL Sailing Association and SLOG are not 'organized communities' - they are user groups. For there to be a truly 'organized community' of vehicle users in Second Life, each and every vehicle user would have to be in these groups or otherwise agree with them. To have even ONE user disagree prevents them from being 'organized'. My responses are not 'brickheaded' Orca - mean, possibly and I really do not care if they are at this point. I have been a Second Life user for quite a while now, I have seen this very topic come and go. I am sick and tired of the entitlement attitude that a rather vocal set of groups has shown with regard to exploration. I cared (and still do care) enough about Second Life that I joined the Mentor program ears ago to help new users get acclimated to Second Life. I do not care for the "I must be allowed to explore anywhere I please" crowd. As to your closing remarks: What another user does with their parcel is none of your concern as long as it does not violate the ToS/CS or any real world laws. You are not the arbiter of what 'makes the grid a better place', there is no 'commonwealth' here and guess what? The concept of 'socially acceptable' does not apply to what a user does to keep others out of their parcels. Your final 'question' makes it quite clear that you're incapable of understanding most of this as well: No one is 'wiping out a whole kindergarden' by barring passage through a Second Life parcel. ^^ My bolded part of your quote. Thank you. Just because someone's use of their own land and any restriction they put on it does not coincide with this mentality, we are all greedy, selfish, paranoid, going against what SL Mainland stands for and all the other slew of nonsense that is said. When these people pay my tier and purchase what I use to enjoy my SL, then they can *try* and dictate how I am supposed to live MY Second Life.
  3. Oh.. I think you may have been called that.. Shame on anyone that would call you that! You know, I sail out of Starboards Yacht Club and have been ALL over the Blake including these narrow channels which bring you pretty close to land. I also fly out of Hollywood Airport exploring much of the airspace as well. I use 3 different sailboats (2 large, 1 small) a couple different size speedboats and I fly a 6 seater plane and a helicoptor. I have NEVER once been ejected from anyone's orb or ran into banlines. When I set out to sail, I usually go for 4 to 5 hours or so. I am sure I would have hit one of these obstacles by now. I consider myself to be skilled in boith sailing and flying in sl, I don't have to belong to an association to acquire the abilities either. I am trying to think where people are going to get slammed back home? LOL it amazes me.
  4. Banlines and orbs some feel necessary. Your opinion of them is just that, your opinion unless you own the land. I don't think it's about *protection*, it's a bit different than that, no point in going over it as it has been said a milion times here. I can only speak for myself, my thinking is not prompted from any type of paranoia. It's really just about privacy and when you are on your land, it's quite a pain to keep ejectingg those that refuse to leave when you are there with others trying to enjoy your time. I have never had a problem with the hud. I know there used to be a few different ones out there. I sail a lot, various crafts as well. The map is usually sufficeient enough for me.
  5. Some of us "non full time sailors or pilots" also sail and fly. This is the same old crappola, you're right, about how people think they have a right to say how any landowner must open their land for others. I am sure many people spend a lot in sl that sail..and? I am not sure if you are aware of a nifty little hud you can wear so you will avoid ALL ban lines and non public areas on mainland so you don't crash and burn and get sent home home. It's really a small investment and may make your experience better without inflicting your freedom beliefs on others of their land.
  6. Extrude Ragu wrote: Pamela, You are right, private land is private land.I would never intrude on someones property like that. A locked door is a locked door and it's inexcusable to break through it. But the mainland is a different nature, it was designed to be explored. There are often no visual cues, and as you said, the Lindens don't respond to AR's. But, you are also wrong, Private land is not private land, until it is clearly marked as so, and also, private land is Land, not Private Air.For example, when I brought my house in the real world, I didn't buy the right to stop harry in his piper club from flying over, or John in his Jet. When I brought my home in the real world I also didn't buy the right to vaporize my neighbour when he stepped onto my drive with no warning, or to detain some guy who tripped and stepped foot in my drive, and because he so much as touched my land, drive him all the way back to his home in Alaska. You know? It's rediculous that there is no warning, and that you are teleported so far away. It is nasty and really sets a bad tone in second life. When you buy a house in the middle of a street you should expect people to walk past, this is what mainland owners seem to forget, they brought a parcel to develop on, where they have the right to ask people to leave, but they don't have the right to disturb everyone around them unnessacarily just for passing by, they should get off their high horse. Umm. I nolded your words. Mainland was designed for resident to create, buy land and design how they want. Just because it's mainland gives you now right to make any rules on what other people pay for. You are just another one of theose "I am entitled to what everyone pays ofr, because i said." What a false sense of entitlment. Maybe you should think about how much money sink their RL money into the places that make up Mainland and calm down ab bit and get off your high horse with your "You pay I plat" Attitude. EDIT: Wow, i didn't even notice until today what a botched up paragraph i wrote. i can barely read it.
  7. Drake1 Nightfire wrote: Age Play is a form of roleplaying in which an individual acts or treats another as if they were a different age. The practice can be regressive, in which the goal is to re-experience childhood, or sexual, recreating a sexual relationship with people of the pretend or true ages. Generally this can involve someone pretending to be younger than they actually are, but can also involve assuming an older role. Age play can also involve incestual roleplay. Youth oriented ageplay does NOT attempt to simulate pedophilia, but rather is intended to highlight emotional associations held with different ages. Sexual ageplay itself does not involve the sexual attraction to biologically underage people. Rather, when a consenting adult takes on the roleplaying mindset of a young person, it is motivated by re-experiencing emotional states and social interactions of one's youth, which also happen to be pleasurable in a sexual context to the participants. Pedophilia is the act of having sex with or desiring to have sex with children. Two totally different things. If my partner in SL dresses like a school girl and calls me "daddy" is that breaking the age play policy? I hope not. I highlighted your words that really stuck out. If you read what I bolded then read your last statement, yeah, if your partner in SL is calling you *Daddy* and dresses like a scool girl, I think it's walking a thin line. I know about D/s relationsships so please don't imply that calling you Daddy has something to do with that. I would think that anyone calling their partner Daddy has some real issues and I am certainly surprised, just by knowing what I do of you from your posting history that you defend that. I haven't posted in awhile but this post I felt I had to reply to.

WHY WOULD YOU BE SO IGNORANT AS TO START A NEW ONE, STUPID?" Well, yeah, I might think maybe I should do a search for an already existing thread before asking something that God Forbid has already been asked and answered. *shrug* Could be real or memorex. No kidding and what a way to welcome someone to the forums by making them feel stupid.

  10. Do you realize that as US citizens we pay tax on "certain" services? If I buy something out of my state I may not be taxed, only people that live in the particular state would. It's more complicated than you think. try Inworldz maybe they absorb all fees for non US people.

I mean...is it that much of a problem, if he asks her what she likes so much about these shoes and if she wouldn't like (insert random shoe here) instead? If she says she likes it the way it is he shouldn't have a problem with that. But if she admits that she sure would like to get new shoes, its fine too. Maybe something keeps her away from buying new stuff? I mean, we all started our SL looking different than now and I often remember people laughing, when they see old pictures of themselves and think "God, how could I walk around like that?" There was a time when I too thought I looked pretty after my first shopping trip at the Freebie Galaxy. You don't get it maybe because it wasn't about "Asking" It was about telling someone that the OP didn't like the look of his partner. It would be classless to say to her "Oh by the way, you know I think you could do better with different hair, shoes, clothes, etc" something to that effect. Maybe something does keep her away from buying new stuff and maybe she doesn't want to share that with her partner for any valid reason. It's always good to be able to look at ourselves and be able to laugh, but not to pick apart someone else when they didn't ask for an opinion and possibly hurt their feelings about the look they chose. I am VERY outspoken but would never want someone to think I am the judge of who they choose to be or appear.
  14. I use IE as my viewer and I get the certificate warnings, usually though where the ads are located on the page they are blocked and the error page cannot be found shows. I don't use ad blocker my antivirus is blocking them as some of them are known spam sites and are associated with google ad click garbage

Bring that topic clearly on the table. Maybe ask her why she loves those shoes so much or if she never feels another skin would suit her much better. If I would be in your situation I would be just honest. Are you serious?? What makes you think your taste is the baseline of what looks good? I can't believe some of the things that people actually say here. Yes, I'm deadily serious. Chose a corner, sit down and cry because of that, if you want to. Its my opinion that some people have no taste and that others simply don't care about their look. But I bet you are one of these people who would lie till the end just to be polite. Its not like I'm screaming in their face that I think they lack of a look in the mirror, but I think I deserve the right to have an opinion about it. If they ask me, I won't lie. I'm not the person encourageing overweight girls in to wear tight pants and miniskirts and I'm also not the person telling someone they look great with 2006-freebies. edit: It isn't rude to suggest new shoes, its more rude to lie. I can really talk to her in a nice and open way. If she says she is aware that its probably newbish, but she likes it, she can keep wearing them. And he will finally have peace to know that he doesn't need to do any shopping trips with her. Sorry Syo, I don't need to choose a corner and sit down and cry, I have no need to. You can have your opinion and be quiet about it, that's just common decency. You deserve all the rights you feel in your head on how to treat others, that's your problem. Why is it your business if some people don't care what they look like? No I don't lie to people and I don't lie to people if they ASK my opinion. There is a difference between shoving someone's belief of a "good look" in their face and giving an honest opinion if they want your advice. ^^ read what I bolded that quotes you. I guess I am just not vain.

  18. I wouldn't bring it up at all. You like attention to detail and that's fine, but that's not what apparently made you fall for her in the first place. No matter how close you are and what you both talk about, saying something about your dislikes about her av would be rude IMO. I am articulate about my av but the people I am close to and the man I share sl with are people not av's to me and the way they represent themselves here has absolutely nothing to do with who they are inside, the reason I care about all of them. I don't pick apart those I care about in RL or SL because I accept people the way they are in both worlds. If it's not a great big deal, why did you post? Because it's heavy on your mind. Re-evaluate your relationship and try and recall what attracted you to her. Let her change of her own free will. Talking freely and saying something about someone's personal self are 2 very different things.

If I can verify who I am for the one thing they want me to do, it seems like I should be able to use that info to prove who I am and get them to do something else for me as well. Sure, they'll take my information of verification in order to charge me $59.40 USD a year in fees in order to use their Paypal Debit Card, but they won't cooperate and either take my bank account out of the system so I can use it again, or migrate it to my current Paypal account- that's just shady as hell. First off, wher eare you getting these fees from? PayPal (pops) Are there fees to use my PayPal Debit MasterCard®? Fees for the PayPal Debit MasterCard® are: Make a purchase - None Receive card - None Annual fee - None Withdraw money from any ATM with the Cirrus/Maestro logo - $1 per withdrawal* A signature-based cash withdrawal from a bank - $3 per signature-based cash withdrawal *The bank that owns the ATM fees may charge additional fees. If you use your debit card to withdraw cash or pay for something in another currency, MasterCard will convert the amount you charged to U.S. dollars. I have used PayPal for 15 years and have a PayPal Debit card. I get cash back bonuses for using the card for purchases. I am a Business member and my card does say Business Debit but I don't think it's just something you apply for, has nothing to do with volume for merchants or someone who uses it as a buyer. You just sign up I believe, it's been so long I don't remember. Maybe it is the PayPal MC the OP is referring to.
  22. It seemed as though most of the lights blame was on people that thought it made their experience better, though you did mention builders too. I asked what about those of us (meaning myself) that don't use any attached lights and I am still blinded on ultra setting.

If you google my RL name, there is not one entry that will come up about RL me. I actually google myself periodically to be sure. Oddly, I made all of my accounts with the same email address, so I wouldn't even be able to get in there if I tried, as there is currently an account with that email address open. I guess there's a lot of things they don't tell you and that you don't think about up front. The only way a person really sees these things is when they have a problem and go to the knowledge base on the site. Which I can't see anyone doing for something that seems so insignificant as closing an account, even though it is a big deal to close an account for some reason. If they gave me the option to go back and take those off of there somehow, it wouldn't be a problem. But the fact that they are unwilling to cooperate when I have no way of going back and doing it myself now is just aggravating. I would say that they just need to have the information on things like this a bit more up front and in big letters. >< And then wanting me to send them a picture of my Social Security Card and Drivers License to even activate their stupid card just adds insult to injury. I told them all of the information on the phone. Don't they think that if I stole someones information that I may also have stolen their ID and SS card from their wallet as well? So basically, sending them the information they want is pointless and dangerous for me. But I do have $50 in that account that I really need in real life very soon, so I'll give in to them this time. Yeah, I didn't know to take the information off, but they should still delete it upon request. It's just reckless for them to have that type of info sitting around on their computers, and they don't have any business even having it anymore, especially since they won't let me use it again. I still think that there is some legal aspect to the whole thing, but I'm not exactly sure what category that would fall under. I don't know of any other company that keeps your payment information stored in their computer forever after you close your account with them, though it may be something that the big companies don't talk about. You should be able to add more email addresses and make a different one your primary addy. The have their TOS and they update it with any change and I have never been surprised by any action or hidden surprises. I realize not many people read the whole TOS, I am not saying you didn't but it seems you would be informed of everything they do or changes made. They can't verify who you are by phone and yes it would be safe to assume there was a problem with the accounts having multiple opening and closing, seems odd. They want your ID so they can verify it's you because of the multiple accounts. How is sending them your information pointless and dangerous? If you stole someone's ID and SS and it was reported they could catch that, I am sure you realize that having it in your possession to send the copies makes a difference. The same going for them dealing with someone and money transactions that could be fraud and dangerous to them as well as any merchants. US banks keep your information on file when you close an account. Did you request a check sent to you by mail to avoid the debit card issue you seem to be having? Have you spoken with PayPal's fraud department also, they have different solutions.
