  1. To be honest, you haven't really explained your idea in any sufficient detail and now you randomly quote yourself.
  2. Because they are completely different things. They are differently made and differently run. Its like comparing the performance of a DVD you play at home vs. the performance of some random Twitch stream. Others already commented, but here are the key points: - SL is live downloaded. Everything you see is constantly streamed, nothing is pre-installed on your computer, expect for the little bit of software to enter SL. Thats why things need to rezz. The server needs to send that data to your computer first. In a typical game, all textures and objects are pre-installed on your computer. - SL is entirely user-made content. This means the content is often not optimized, since the people creating them are not professionals. That leads to performance issues.
  3. Victorians are not that difficult. It just takes a bit of patiance. And continously checking the page. Refreshing or relogging if necessary.
  4. Of course you can be shy in SL. Shyness has nothing todo with be with being in close physical proximity to others. Its being uncomfortable in social settings, especially when the attention is on you and you have to make the first move. Teleporting away, hiding under the couch in your virtual livingroom for all eternity, blocking people or closing the viewer does not make someone not shy and does not solve shyness.
  5. I wish there was a gallery of everything thats been sold at the event, so I can check if there is anything I'd like to take a look at, prior to suffering through multiple crowded sims.
  6. You do know that people were playing around with that, because it was so random and that the result could drastically vary between different pictures of the same avatar? Even more so, because the software isn't made for avatars to begin with.
  7. She doesn't look like a child, you fossil (and even if, what the heck is your problem?!). Stop projecting things into this image (crying, abuse etc), that aren't there. They are in your head, not in the picture.
  8. In my humble opinion: Whoever at LL decided to do away with the firstname lastname concept should be tared and feathered. Worst idea ever. And I agree that the whole ASCII abuse in displaynames is awful. I refuse to adress people by their displayname, if they do that. Same if they misuse letters from foreign languages, because ß looks totally like a fancy B...
  9. The best translation one could ask for, considering the source material.
  10. Not confusing, if used correctly. I'm using one for my alt to make his name more readable, because thanks to stupid LL, I had to wiggle my way around every reasonable name under the sun being already taken and add something to it. But of course, thats now a string of one word in the username. The display name allows me to put a space inbetween, which makes it much more easy to read. You and I are fortunate enough to have a first- and lastname from the old days, but newer accounts (everyone after 2010) hasn't been so lucky.
  11. Well, I have seen how that one particular thread went and what avatars got the boot. It wasn't some school girl accessories.
  12. They don't put that in there, because they think they aren't looking over 18, but because others accuse them of being underage. And those accusations are rude and unwelcome, so they try to get around that discussion right before they have to deal with it. Just like anyone else who puts up disclaimers in their profile: To avoid certain conversations. Some people in SL have forgotten, what RL women between 18-30 look like and that they would not be able to "clock them" on a precise, universal age either. And we had this discussion not too long ago, involving someone who rules over their sim by exactly that mindset. Everyone who looked young got branded pedophile/childavatar.
  13. I changed my housboat model again. This is the living room/kitchen/entrance:
  14. For my personal situation, Belli homes are the best option for me, so I'm going to stick to it (unless I would need to drop Premium completely for whatever reason). But I do get the impatiance about the Stilt Homes. It has been ages since they were showcased and now its radio silence on when to expect them or when developement of the regions will even start. I don't think we will see them in 2020 and I'm starting to doubt we will see them in 2021.
  15. I'm happy with my houseboat... but man, your pictures make me want to have a loghome. It looks so comfortable and ready-to-curl-up next to a fireplace.
  16. Well, because children are part of the world. The walking death had children. Taking Solars example, I could imagine pretty fine roleplay, that includes children and teenagers, who did survive the end of the world. Not to argue with you now, of course. I just wanted to illustrate, that there are plenty of reasons why a child avatar is a possibility in such settings.
  17. I put my bet on some scripted object that judges everyone as a child avatar based on being below 2m in height. 🙃
  18. Ah, now we are finally at the point of comparing landowners in SL to Nazis. Too soon for "in before the lock"?
  19. Also fun fact: I was really confused why you quoted me saying that (because I didn't)... and I still stand with my reply. Telling someone, who is new to mesh bodies, in detail how its putting a load on their computer and others is really counterproductive, if that person might take this as "My mesh body is hell on earth for a computer!" and then decides to not purchase one, although they would like to, based on a false fear. Meanwhile, everyone around them happily walks around in mesh.
  20. No. You are a little drop in an ocean. One mesh item more won't have a messureable effect on it. There are way worse things out there. All mesh bodies respond to the sliders of your shape, so you can slim a body down. Although all bodies have their individual limitations and you won't get a general tendency of noticeable curves entirely out of Freya. Thats what demos are for, so you can see, if the body can be altered in a way you like.
  21. I would strongly advice to test all the bodies yourself. Images from others can be misleading.
  22. What exactly does the message say, when you try to login inworld?
