  1. Have a question of anybody might know. I know the max image size that can be saved to disc appears to be about 7600 pixels in Firestorm viewer, Does anybody know of a debug setting that can overwrite that? If there are any? I know there are a few hidden gems in debug settings but hard to find sometimes. Thanks!
  2. "Height" in SL is in a word, stupid. This is a digital world. the only thing that matters in proportions. We could be an equivliant 15 feet tall or 2 feet tall and long as everything is properly scaled around us - it would not matter. And honestly this whole 'well Im 5 feet in RL so I MUST be that in SLto be "real" is a bit silly too because very little to nothing else on the female avi represents what is "real" in RL. Yes one can be too tall or too short in SL, but an average of '6 or 7 feet" scales in fine with most of the builds and other objects in SL
  3. On the bright side Chic, should you need a new card, they are at least affordable not that cyrpto has crashed!
  4. But in a digital world, why is "height" even important? Its all about porportion in realtion to other objects around you or you interact with
  5. I recently bought a 3070 to replace my 1080 after waiting about a year because of the insane GPU prices - but in SL - ZERO difference in FPS. Defenitly a law of diminishing returns applies to SL. it renders my videos way faster so there is that!
  6. But I am sure over at Nvidia when a new driver has issues in SL, they are like, "yeah, I'll get right on that boss!" lol
  7. One issue may be with the Dynamic Draw. Not sure exactly how if calculates how to be Dynamic, but with this on, alot of stuff will dissapear at a small distace (10 meters or less) Turning this off prevents that, but at the expense of often killing FPS. When I film weddings for example, things at the end of the aisle will not rezz (flowers, other small objects) so I have to keep Dynamic draw off to keep the whole scene rezzed
  8. IMO, the main issue I see isn't the fees. This is a hobby, and alot of hobbys are way more expensive than SL. The main issue is that one can own a 3000 gaming computer and get 4 FPS in an event with 30+ avatars. That will drive away far more users than land fees
  9. TBH, except for basic everyday things like walking around, that is really all the UI of the Linden viewer can handle. Just to video the event I was at I had to pull up the camsmoothing debug setting and manualy enter each time. Oh and no resynch function either. and can't manually input the 'feathering' for the 3D mouse, But lets hope this code gets to TPV soon
  10. I really don't know what kind of vodoo magic is running in this build, but I was videoing an event and I was switching between FS and this viewer, trying to ensure my settings between viewers were rougly equal. With 22 avis at the event I was getting about 12 FPS on the Firestorm viewer and about 40-50 FPS on ths performace viewer From the task manager it does look like the Performace viewer is using more cores on the CPU is that correct? What ever the case it performs rather well even in a crowded space
  11. Hi I do wedding videos but unfortunlately I am booked june 25. And thanks for the mention, @norajulian Ajay also try Pia Klaar
  12. But who's camera? are we all going to become smile bots? How does anyone's camera know what mood I am experiencing to "animate" me?
  13. since it is all simulated anyways, maybe just a re write to simulate using it on a RL camera. the 2 main things on a RL camera that affect DOF would be amount of zoom and Appaure and the focus point but we do that by alt flick on the subject or having the focus follow the pointer. We can control amount of zoom essentuialy using the ctrl+0 , so if there was a slider that tied into that function and labeled like a RL camera, like 50mm, 85mm, 180mm 2000mm etc moving the slider would be the same as ctrl+o to zoom in then an appature slider label like a RL (so like 1, 3.5, 4, 5.5, 6, 7.8 etc etc ) camera seems would clear up a alot of confusion. I am not really sure since this is all simulated if there is even the need for things like CoC but maybe, but in essence re-write the UI sliders to match a RL camera - i think alot of people would understand that alot better. And since unlike a RL camera, our appature options don't need to be compensated for with shutter speed or ISO settings for the correct exposure, users who dont even know what DOF is in the first place can watch any tutorial to get a understanding of DOF on RL cameras and how it works
  14. " Avatar “expressiveness” that brings camera-based gestures and movement to your avatar for a whole new level of interaction and connectedness" Can someone explain more in detail what that means? Main improvement I'd like to see is decent framerates on a sim with 20 or 30 or more avis on it. Seems the performance viewer from LL is on the right track with that, but yeah, the latest hardware and still down at 4fps on a crowded sim, no bueno
  15. I gotta say after using it for a while, the new Linden performance viewer spanks Firestorm and sends it back to pre-school! lol Seriously, though, can't wait for that code to make it into Firestormm but if you dont need all the UI enhancements of FS, Id say use the performance build from Linden
  16. thanks for the follow up Niran, but 1) ctrl -s to resynch when shooting a live video would be much better 2) Im not sure if it is 'broke' or not, but I use it all the time to get partially loaded textures to load fully 3) Maybe was an issue on my end or maybe was a few versions back in BD but it did happen alot for me at least I would like to use BD again for video, I think for me at least the "two" must haves for the types of video I do is to re synch via a simple keyboard shortcut and to refresh mis behaving textures. In any case I still use BD for photography all the time , as it is a great viewer when it comes to that
  17. Since you asked, let me point out a few things that for me at least, make BD unsuitable for the video work I do. These might be 'minor' things but make a huge problem doing video work for me 1) Cannot resynch animations (Like couples dancing) 2) No Texture refresh 3) In my experience at least, BD still experiences more texture thrashing 4) Often times in 'heavy' areas (alot of avis,, alphas and the like) BD either takes forever to load, fails to load completely and sometimes and is often stuck at 1 or 2 fps for a long time until things can render. And it has been my experience in the past that these conditions makes BD unstable and prone to crashing 5) While this is of course a design decision of BD, much needed controls like joy stick configuration, (I often adjust the feathering for the flycam) enable/disable dynamic draw and other little tings like that are buried in Preferences. In other words, the lack of a Phototools panel like in FS makes for me, doing video in BD harder. Not though a deal breaker 6) BD shadow engine, while really good on a still image, has issues with the camera moves through a scene. But to be fair, all the viewers suffer this problem I used to use BD when I started out filming weddings, but the 3 big things, no animation re-synch, texture thrashing/inability to refresh textures and general unstable performance I switched back to FS and any perceived image quality difference I can color correct in post anyways. Doing still photography work, none those issues is a big deal. Shooting a live event or wedding, it is a huge deal and if you need my computer specs CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-10700K CPU @ 3.80GHz (3792 MHz) Memory: 32671 MB OS Version: Microsoft Windows 10 64-bit (Build 22000.675) Graphics Card Vendor: NVIDIA Corporation Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070/PCIe/SSE2 and all my drives are SSD
  18. you may be right Niran it hasn't drifted per say, it has never been a good choice for machinima. Photography it is excellent, video not at all. Not putting down BD at all, just saying for video work - it just does not work
  19. Post is your friend. Color grading is your friend. So in world, it is having the right tools and UI to be able to do in world videos properly and easily. For me, that is Firestorm. Black Dragon, unfortunately has drifted far far away from being a useful viewer to be able to do videos on. and the Linden viewer - fuget bout it! Granted the FPS on FS can suck really bad at times and I also have a 3070, but again - post. You can always do slow zooms or pans in post if you can't move the camera in world
  20. after spending some time on this, one thing I noticed was ALOT of texture thrashing, I went through debug settings looking for memory settings , not sure where it is. So things can be fixed in debug settings ith this, but the texture thrashing is really bed
  21. I had a chance to try this out in a crowded sim and the FPS was great. No issues that I could see. Runs smooth. for maybe going to a club event or shopping event this would be good I think. For getting new users on board and being able to enjoy a crowded event, this is great. Unfortunately, the LL UI is just not suited at all for doing any kind of serious machinima, video, work at all. Now if only say, Firestorm to take what ever engine is powering this viewer and pair it with their UI, we woud have a perfect viewer!
  22. unfortunately, no matter the marketing, you get a new user coming in on a 3000 dollar gaming computer, go to a crowded event and getting 8FPS (or less) - that's kinda turn off. Those of us that have been here a while know SL and just live with it or deal with it the best we can, but, IMO, new user will just mostly see this as a outdated lagfest "game"
  23. I tried the Lenden performance viewer, however, as I do videos, the official viewer is far from ideal UI wise to be doing any sort of Machinima work as far as Linux, dual boot etc etc I barely know anything about Windows let alone take on anything like that! but thats good to know in any case
  24. good to know.. i was hoping i could do something on my end.... Linden wonders why they cant retain new users? you have a 2500 gaming PC and the best one can do in a crowded sim is 6 FPS? maybe that's why lol. Well most users can imposter or derender avis, I suppose, as a solution. So you can enjoy a crowded event with either cardboard cutouts of people there or nobody at all! lol
  25. running the latest hardware to better render avatars in a scene without choking the FPS down to like 8 or so? I know there are avatar imposter solution, but what I want to know is if you want all the avis in a area fully rendered, is there anything in Win 11 (or 10) that we can do to speed up the render proccess? I have a 10-700k, a rtx 3070, 32 gig 3200mhz ram, all SSDs, and when the camera is on say 25 fully rendered avis, FPS drops to 8 or so. Move to cam so avis aren't in view - 60 FPS + Is there some tweaks in Windows or even the nvidia control panel to get things moving faster? My computer is pretty optimized as far as power plan, running processes etc.. - but maybe there are processes or services running that conflict with SL or something like that. Just kinda reaching for straws here. I am on the latest version of Firestorm BTW. I know SL runs on openGL so maybe there are things that can be better optimized for that as well. I have a 300mbs up/down internet on a wired LAN and am on the east coast so i know my connection speeds are fine
