I found it easy to strike up friendships in the early days, but I would just speak to anyone and befriend anyone, some I am still in touch with. But over recent years finding new friends has been so much harder. But I guess I have changed as well since I first started 15 years ago. I think becoming a cretaor changed me too, I spend more time working than socialising and then when I do leave my platform it is usually to "gamble" or buy hair!

Yep, on my minimul platform Without ALM 111FPS With ALM 85FPS Adding ambient occlusion keeps it very much the same Adding shadows 70 FPS Most of the time it is turned off, only turning it on for photography. If I forget to turn it off and go somewhere busy it does slow me down and I turn it straight back off. Draw distance as well is a big factor, mine is on 80 so I can see my full parcel. Dropping right down to 32 increases the FPS of course. And just noticed I can see everything on 64 draw distance which increases the FPS a little. My min settings keep it at 32 when out and about.

It does work, you are just not doing it right. It is a shame that drragging real life objects doesn't duplicate them!

Yes, I think quite a few join to troll for sex. I have taken myself out of country specific grouops as well as that happens in those too. One guy chatted to me for a few weeks and we got along well but then he said he was visiting my neck of the woods and could we meet, I refused and that was the last I heard of him. It seems he wanted a quick one while he was visiting!

I usually check their profile first before answering. That's if I see their message as it comes in. often I am AFK or engrossed making something or gambling hard earned lindens and don't notice unttil hours later. So when checking later if it is meaningful then I reply but if it is a rasndom hi and the guy has lots of adult groups showing and sexual content on his profile then I just ignore.

I was thinking that today. I was approaching 46 when I joined SL, and now I am 61. SL is growing old with me but staying young at the same time if that makes sense.

So I was out of the house for a few hours the other day. When I got home, I found one high cat. He had managed to open the kitchen cupboard and get his catnip. He dragged it into the living room and managed to get it open and had a very good time. He was just rolling about on the kitchen floor, looking very happy!

i think we just need to look at what we can gain that is useful to us by weighing up the pros/cons as I did. I am currently renting a plot of land for 2,030L a week costing me £31.86 a month, it is bigger than what I really need and I could still do what I need to do on a 2048 plot. I probably upload about 1/200 textures a week when in creation mode, so that's a saving of 4/8,000L a month. So with Prem+ I will have no land fees, 650L a week to spend and frree texture uploads costing me £29.49 a month(at the full price) The other perks being useful too, so I have opted for Prem+, though I made a new group and it still cost 100L so that needs tweeking, the free texture uploads is working as it should. As a content creator I can offer my clothing with many more options giving customers better value for money seeing as all the textures are now free. I can sell textures at a much cheaper price which I am sure others will do. I have a wide range of freebies available, I could start doing free textures as well. So it does help other residents as well. For me it is a win-win situation. The $15 name change fee is a bit much, I think that should be free. I am not really bothered about the other perks so much

It is great that he is back. I had a feeling that he would come back in some role eventually as SL will be in his blood. And it is a good sign about SL's future.

I used to when I first started in Sl, but I did have a home then with a bed! I have not used a bed or a home for about 13 years now. I just doss about on my platform and never really log out.

Sometimes just leaving your av there for 5/10 minutes while you go make a drink/or do whatever takes your fancy and when you come back everything should be rezzed and less laggy. You can also cut down your draw distance and use low graphic settings. If you are not bothered about seieng other residents you can choose "show friends only" In the world options tab. Or if you still want to see others you could cut down avatar complexity in preferences so that "heavy laggy" Avs aren't rendered. (I see some avs with 2/3/400 complexity, lord knows what they are wearing, my av is usually about 30-50 complexity so the mind bloggles. I have seen some people suggest wearing a full head to toe alpha to make urself invisible but never tried that. That's all my tricks, others may have some more.
