  1. What "I" see is that you have two BIG payouts to Paypal on one day. Almost $1450 US when your other cash outs were WAAAAAY smaller. There is a red flag automatically -- -from my point of view. IF it is an "exceeding your limit" as suggested you should have had a big and obvious warning about that. "I" certainly did and others also (as reported in the forums some time ago). SO it seems more likely that your cash out is under review of some kind. Did you send in a ticket or chat up support to find out what might be wrong? Did you check your "ticket history" (even if you didn't put in a ticket warnings show up there)?
  2. In general there are OH SO MANY reasons not to upload linksets and I am sure someone will come along and explain that :D. BUT to the title of your thread, here are the limits for Second Life. http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Limits

    Land

Well "legit" is probably an odd term. Just newly private parties can auction off their land. I haven't kept up with all this and not interested but presumably all auctions run THROUGH the auction page would be "legit". The problems comes sometimes with how land is advertised. I have no idea if the lab is paying much attention to what is claimed and what is real. Typically they stay out of things. You CAN of course ONLY bid on Linden Lab land and NOT on private lands and that would (in theory) be completely safe. I have never purchased auction land so I can't speak personally. Note below there are LINDEN auctions and RESIDENT auctions. I suggest taking some time to understand better how all this works -- and by checking out other land sales. Sometimes it is cheaper to buy directly rather than at auction --- unless of course it is a specific parcel you are after.

    Land

"Protected Land" means land that is owned by Linden Lab and is slated to stay empty (such as beachfront areas or open water) or have Linden builds on it. It is NOT "Land under MAINTENANCE" which means the land has been abandoned by the owner and is just sitting there empty. Maintenance Land can be sold or auctioned off at any time so there is no reason to believe you will be "neighborless" (the main point of having protected land) and with a "view" should there be one. Land can be technically "protected" but with such a small border that it is more or less useless. So do not trust the seller 100 percent and do your research and look at the property lines in the viewer before purchasing. And sometimes people advertise land as protected when it is really maintenance land. So beware. EDIT: AFAIK there is not "unprotected designation but maintenance land could be considered "unprotected" I guess.
  5. Presumably they will be filled with some of the other "many new styles" of abodes over time (within the year it sounded like as that is when the 512s are slated to go away (a more or less timeline from Patch) . Inara's blog suggest that we may see more styles of houses at the birthday bash this June. We already can see (MAYBE) where the "trailers" and park settings may go up North. It seems logical that they will continue having SSP as a planning and staging area for the actual continent so we can once again watch and guess what we will see when all is revealed.
  6. YEP they did move the SSP post. Now here under LAND and Linden Homes. I think that there is still plenty of chatting about what's coming up in that thread.
  7. It depends on the item and how it was made but the answer is YES land impact can change with resizing -- both up and down and sometimes "down" can even increase the land impact. Also never assume that ALL items by a designer are "low impact" or ever "high impact". Different items will naturally be of different land impacts and designers often shift their priorities over time. I have noted a few that USED to make reasonably low land impact items and now their furniture and buildings are much higher with many more textures. So wise shopping is good. There is a new thread here about wise shopping so if you can find that --- or someone can link it for you, that would be good to read. It showed up in the stream. Here you go:
  8. While it has been very quiet over at SSP as well as the soon to be unveiled new homes, I spotted some new layout prims in the "trailer park" today. So some energetic mole is still busily working on things to come this summer (maybe :D). Since the green dots have been fairly absent (at least when I have looked) I am guessing that the current work is done and we are waiting either for "timing" or the web interface to be complete.
  9. As I understand it what you have tried to do is ONLY useful for Windlight settings that come with Firestorm (not ones you made). That being said you WILL be able to do this once EEP gets into the pipeline (maybe soon - maybe some months). You will also be able to either make a new EEP sky or convert your Windlight sky to the new system.
  10. Doesn't seem to be in SL (and nothing via the photo from Google either). You might ask the person who made the ad: https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/LC-Female-Android-Sounds/12800831
  11. The basic problem with "all" (most?) houses that try to approximate RL dimensions (some creators obviously use house plans from Google to layout their house (I did that once but found the rooms way to small for comfortable living) is the walking through the sides of the building issue -- VISUALLY, not actually :D. It is certainly true that we have the ability to change our viewer settings to deal with this but most folks don't know how or don't care to do this. Personally as a creator who makes buildings I do NOT change my view angles from the default primarily so that I get an idea of what the majority sees. I DO think that the new homes are a huge improvement over the 512s and the more organic and community inspired layout is leaps and bounds better than the sprinkling of houses hither and yon in the old home sims. BUT aside from the overly high land impact of the traditional houses the rooms ARE small and will be difficult to move around in for new folks especially. The houseboats are definitely more roomy (some almost too much so for me LOL). BUT, these are just the first set of styles of abodes, many more to come. And I suspect that the people who plan have been paying attention to the feedback. An open planned balcony "bedroom" modern house must be on someones radar. An upgrade style for Meadowbrook themes would be welcomed by many, including all the folks that have chimed into various LH threads. In a year there may be a big selection of places to live -- one for almost each citizen's need. We can hope anyway.
  12. You didn't tell us how much the LI was on the house. Honestly I am wondering how you got it to FIT on your 1024 as usually houses designated as a 2048 house would have a footprint over 32 x 32. Anyway, I would personally say that your house should be under 100 land impact for a 1024 lot. So yes, likely too much house for your land. ALSO be sure and check the land impact of all those hedges and palms. They could be 1 LI or 12 LI or even more. That can add up quickly. You certainly CAN decorate a house with only 79 prims. We all did it in the olden days, but I would say leaving a third of your LI for the furnishing and decor would be a good starting spot. Sure others would do it differently; it is all up to the individual and where they spend their time on their land. Good luck.
  13. One of my very best selling items (the top seller actually) is a ten year old item. I have remade it a few times --- first it was prims, then one of my first mesh items, then an upgraded mesh item. It can still be redelivered and it is still the same price. I don't see why the COST of an item would go up over times unless it was definitely upgraded --- and if it is worth that much more then it should be a new listing IMO. I only have one item that I have raised the price on that I can remember (many have been discounted over time). But there are now THREE versions (including the original) in the pack. It can still be redelivered to the original purchases. Just my take on the situation.
  14. Great to know. TY. I took a screenshot of this info LOL. Have one sky from last year's Fantasy Faire that I really want to convert and put on the level where it belongs.
  15. That is the fee NOW; I just checked. And there has been a fee (maybe smaller) for a decade or so. I remember LONG LONG LONG ago when it switched from zero. But it certainly could have been free at some time and may periodically become free for a short while. It has been a paid group though for many years. Agree it is a great bargain (I blog for {what next} so not a group member) and I love those window boxes. I have them on a garden shed and they look super cute. Just the blogger in me who always checks group gift costs (needed for some Flickr groups) before posting :D.
  16. I absolutely agree that those {what next} window boxes are super. But it should be noted that the group join fee is $250 so not really "free" (from my point of view anyway). There are plenty of nice gifts in the gift hut though.
  17. Maybe so LOL. But it is still a mystery to me how folks can "buy something by mistake" :D. So any hints on that would be appreciated.
  18. Are we going to have "both" old Windlight(R) capabilities and the new EEP choices in the updated viewers? Or will our old Windlight settings be useless after awhile? Mostly I am interested in Firestorm :D.
  19. I didn't try clicking on any of the boxes but I was curious just HOW this can happen as I have had folks "buy things by mistake" from my very simple old style prim vendors (like some of these were) -- mostly only at the Hop and Shop. Like most retailers I do not refund on copy items but I don't want folks to get things they don't want either. There were NO issues for me with my settings and I could see the prices easily on mouseover. Also if one chooses you can set an alert (in FS anyway) to warn you if you are buying something over a certain price (like $0) which would stop that problem. Again, I didn't want to "test" LOL, but some ideas for some folks if they run into this.
  20. You can often link prims to mesh (and sometimes sculpts) successfully. If you link a CUBE (flattened in this case but doesn't matter) to a picture to put a shadow texture on for example and then change the item to CONVEX HULL in the FEATURES tab of the build menu you an have a painting with shadow for the same land impact. Linking sculpts to prims can cause some issues, but as long as you have items that are copy you can certainly TRY . In the case below I linked a 3 land impact gateway to a sculpted bush (1 land impact). When LINKED, the 4 land impact became 5. Long ago when we changed from "prims" to land impact some really monstrous recalculations could happen, but not these days. So not as big a deal, but always good to note. I have very few sculpted items these days but these bushes I still use often :D. Sounds like you are an excellent shopper and the FS Inspcet Object feature gives a lot of good general texture info. I don't know of any better way at the moment. Scripts are almost always no mod unless they are public domain scripts. I rarely by scripted objects but imagine others can help you with this. You can see how the physics model is made by turning on (and off when you are finished natch) physics shapes. We don't have as much "bad physics" as we used to, but one simple things people can do before buying a structure is to walk into all the rooms and into the walls and THROUGH the doors. The rezzing on the floor issue can be worked around just by adding a prim to rez on. This can be textured as carpet or wood floor OR made invisible. Most demos won't be in places where you can rez a cube on the floor :D. A very good list. For ME personally the LODs are the biggest issue. If the mesh is heavy and laggy I usually just delete it (I rarely BUY things :D). If something is overly textured (that 1024 matchstick head comes to mine) it may get tossed also or saved for a photo shoot only. Those are my three big areas I look at before blogging something :D.
  21. See if you can find a free or almost free phone that has a pose that you can take the pose out of. I have had a few over time. Not my favorite prop but I know they are out there. Good luck.
  22. NOT Patience or switch to the EEP viewer from The Lab. Those are your choices. Better yet, pick a nice Windlight setting with NO STARS and just leave that as your Windlight setting.
  23. Not so sure about that since (in theory) they will be working on more styles of houses (the trailer park comes to mind) which will (again in theory according to Inara's blog) be unveiled (hopefully) at SL16B. So still probably plenty of things to watch and wonder about :D.
  24. From what you describe I think the issue is that a phone animation would only have a few bones adjusted. The others would in theory not make any changes in the underlying animation. BUT if you try and USE that animation in an AO you will get just what you said, a straight stance with the "looking at phone" part. These are typically made to go INSIDE the phone and the animation is called as an add on to the underlying animation in the AO. I know that Vista used to have a lot of "add ons" for their huds, so as mentioned that is an option. The other would be just to get a phone that does what you want (tons of those out there) OR get the animation and add it into your phone with a script to call the animation. It doesn't seem like you are going to find what you are looking for because it simply isn't done that way.
