Sense you are so sexually focused in SL (and not in a good way, IMO) it's likely you think others are. I'm not, however, and would never post a porn song for gods sake.  Reaching much?

Here you are again misrepresenting something to seem the victimized innocent. Why don't you just say how you introduced the artist in class "via speaking about what they do in bed". I think you are too focused on diverting from what you said in your OP. Are you pleading the fifth?

This has given me ideas for my next class on Goddesses. Easy enough to find songs for those, but I want to include the cultures these Goddesses sprang from, and their views on sexuality. Often male-female is seen as the same divinity.

Maybe try to do a deeper dive into the various cultures this time, ideally not using Wikipedia as a source.

Yes on the TL;DR stuff but in this case enough information was left out that it begged the question whether this was an actual Pride issue or just an issue of a resident having problems with descriptions of graphical slex. As you pointed out later, you did pass out a notecard upfront that it was in support of LGBQT artists but that still leaves a lot of room for going too far in your description of it in class that those who are overly sensitive to the slexual to consider it crass and not in good taste for a yoga class.

I don't recall Luna saying she described any graphical slex in her intro or her notecard.  The woman was upset by the simple use of the term gay in describing the artist.  How is the word gay graphically sexual?

ETA...the woman took her saying gay as "speaking about what they do in bed" when Luna did nothing of the sort.

I think you missed out on a thread where this was defined well.

Maybe try and recap me on what I missed please? Just give me the TLDR.

I don't think that's a good idea for a couple reasons.  Mainly, that's not what this thread is about.

Then why did you even bring up something about wrong think?  If you don't feel like it's relevant to the thread.

Maybe you can try doing something worthwhile in SL, period.

Oh for sure, Sabrina -- her identity is as important when considering issues of oppression - but that's not what this thread is about. This is a thread about a bad experience with Pride (meaning LGBTQ+ issues).  I certainly don't like the fact that I mislabeled her, but I don't feel bad about it. It's difficult to tell the difference (for me) between Korean and Japanese characters:

               HOLO

Being alone is being still
홀로 있는 게 가만히 있는 게

is it difficult
어려운 일인가요

Alone or together
홀로 있어도 같이 있어도

I feel lonely
외로운 건 같아요

One day it will stop
One day it will stop
as you say as you think
말하는 대로 생각한 대로

isn't it
되는 것 아닌가요

Thank goodness you only commented on the language characters & didn't say "they all look alike" to you in reference to the actual person.

If you were unsure of her ethnicity before presenting her as an example, you might have read a Wiki post about her.

Ethnicity matters to individuals. I might say "Asian" if I weren't sure of someone's actual ethnicity, but if it's better to check if one can. The example of why Koreans wouldn't want to be identified as Japanese has already been given. It's kind of like how Ukrainians (even before the current war) wouldn't want to be identified as Russian.

I grew up with Chinese-American neighbors, but not many other Asian-Americans. My Mom grew up with Japanese-American neighbors, but not with other Asian-American neighbors. It makes a difference how people identify because of differing cultures and history. Japanese-Americans were put into internment camps during WWII. Other Asian-Americans weren't.

Getting back to SL, last month was Asian and Pacific Islander awareness month. Perhaps because of that, Akeruka created gift mesh heads this month with Korean names.  - How many people looked up their names to check what their ethnicity was supposed to be?  I looked up the meanings of their names, and found their ethnicity when I did so. It's pretty easy with Google to look up the meaning and ethnicity of names.

Some people have difficulty admitting they were wrong about something and apologizing.

Read the post again. He accused me of porn, basically, and I said I didn't focus on explicit sex in SL as they do. So am basically saying.......projection much?

Asians do look kind of alike in many respects -- I think they're very pretty -- especially the dark hair.

Why are you controlling what I should do in SL? :P

Well you are trying to control how I teach my classes, so can't I control some of what you do in SL?  Seems only fair.

Gay people here have had to get loud and in your face to fight for basic rights, not even special ones.

I take issue with this mentality. The concept that you have to get in people's faces to fight for your rights, that is.

There's a number of rights (in the US) I like to fight for. At least one, if I were to openly push it in SL, would see me banned from most places, which ironically would also be their right. Why do we expect the outcome to be different for gay rights?

Really, and Japanese people aren't Koreans, even when you present them as such in your Second Life classes. I realize that it's illustrative of certain people's self-serving low effort gibberish, and routines like that have nothing to do with love either.

That's enough. There's a serious misunderstanding here, but this is not resolving it. Move on, please.

Did you guys miss Dyna's post?  Time to move on.

I'm sorry, @Dyna Mole

I'm having a hard time keeping up with the posts in this thread & I'm afraid if I don't post right away, it will be locked before I can reply to anything.

Thank-you for trying to maintain order and decorum on this forum.

I was offering a correction of your mistake in a forum post, not controlling what you do with your SL. Get a grip.

That is how I read the comment

she and her husband found it disgusting that gay artists were introduced in that way via speaking about what they do in bed.

The fact is that the woman may have even been a member or supporter of the LGBQT community and took offense at Luna's description of two women together in bed. It is possible from the information given and Luna's tendency to misread situations and put her own slant on something, that this not a Pride issue at all but someone calling her out for virtue signalling.

OFFS. Speaking as an actual Asian, I don't even know where to start with this one.

This is one of your downfalls -- you don't recognize (or pretend not to) what we call "expressions".

When someone says they don't want to know what somebody else does in bed it just means 'sex'...doesn't mean some detailed account of a sexual experience is being referred to.

Virtue signaling?  I can't even fathom what you're stretching for now..

Um Luna you are totally wrong. Asian doesn't just make up the countries you talked about. Places like Iran and even Afghanistan are a part of asia. And even then you can certainly tell the difference between a Korean and a Japanese person.
