if the items are no transfer returning is impossible. however, some merchants (or perhaps more likely a few) may offer refunds if the customer is very unhappy with the item. but not just because they don't want it anymore, i can't imagine.

if the item is transferable you could check with the merchant that you bought it from and see what their return policies are, if they have any, and how to do it. if you don't find any - ask them =)

either way - always ask the merchant politely if you are unsure.

there is also a market for used items (no copy/transfer items). check the marketplace or look up yard sales inworld.

good luck!

Hello piecheese. Depends of the policy of the brand and how long ago you purchased your item. Some brands allow to someone to return a product after some days  if the client aren't satisfied with it. In this occasion the products are always transferable. If your item isn't transferable i think you can't return it. The best you can do is to contact with the merchant. If you don't know his/her name you can find it in your Order History.

Contact the people you bought them off and ask if you can get a refund, but be very prepared to be told "no chance!" unless you have a good reason. Most merchants are unlikely to accept "because I'm short on L$" as a good reason. (It would be nice if we lived in a world where we could get a refund on old stuff once we get bored of it,  but we don't because that would pretty much see the collapse of capitalism! :smileysurprised:)

How do we address such things in RL? We sell old items second hand. The good news is you can do the same in SL (if the items have transfer permissions). You can list them in the "used items" category on the marketplace, or you could have a yard sale inworld (but you'll need land to host it on).

Big difference between unsatisfactory i.e. the quality was inferior or the product did not work, which is obvious as soon as you receive the product...and "don't like any more."

Growing tired of something is not enough reason to ask the creator to refund you and you had the use of their creation for free, when it was intended to be sold.

You can go the garage sale route if it's transferable, as others have said. I haven't seen many successful garage sales, though.

Why not try the want ad section if you need SL money? If you don't want to buy Linden$ you can work in SL to earn some.

Oh this is a good deal -- you can "rent" furniture for free!  Buy it, use it til you find something else you like better, then return it for a refund. Can't beat that!

Hey .. that's a GREAT idea. I want some land that I can get that deal with too. I'll take a Sim please, and in a few months when I'm tired of it, just turn it back in and ask for a refund of the Sim charges I paid.

Hey Linden Lab .. I got a GREAT idea for a new business model! (LOL)

Some will say that there is plenty of free stuff everywhere -- but this way you can settle for nothing but premium content!

If an item is Copy OK, there is no chance of a refund. People could return a copy and keep a copy.

With my scripts and vendors I'll give a refund if the product does not work for them and let them keep it. But, we first try to find out why it is not working for them and get it working.

But, SL is not Nordstrom's.

I wonder if anyone has ever trying rping a pawnshop for this situation?

Roleplay is the key word. No one would ever come back for their inventory clearance 2006 bling boots.

ROFL

But seriously someone needs to make a museum of these things - a History of SL Design or something.

A few years ago someone showed me a 2004 nightclub that had been left rezzed for posterity - forget the name but it was pretty fascinating - 1 prim coloured cylinders for bar stools, etc.

A museum of what was the best of it's type for each year in SL would be fascinating. We have YadNi's, with it's wonderful collection of freebies since 2003, but to see what was cutting edge technology in it's time would really map out the technical advances. Simply the evolution of the SL shoe alone (especially with Melita's 2006 hooker heels blinging like a Vegas casino) would be great to see. Slostagia?

Not only is this idea totally off the rails loony-tunes .. but it's FABULOUS! May I suggest you start hoarding and collecting in preparation for SL10B? The Tenth Anniversary would make a wonderful benchmark to show off the road taken to get "here".  8^D

Why on earth do you think you can return stuff you "don't particularly like any more"? You can't - unless you unscrupulously lie to the seller. Merchants don't sell things with the understanding that they'll buy them back when you're fed up of them.
