Not sure if you're speaking of the old forums, but they weren't closed until February, 2010. ETA: As an afterthought, it's possible you were speaking of SL as a whole. I joined in May, 2007 during what was apparently one of the "boom years" due to the publicity of SL's first millionaire. Are you referring to LL allowing people to join for free? Your post may be pushed down by the porn spam, but most people just scroll past it to get to the legitimate posts. You can also RIC it so the moderators get rid of it. Until then if you start a thread and don't get any or many responses, it has more to do with how interesting your post was to readers and their desire to respond than the presence of the porn spam. All that said, LL really does need to get a handle on the spam here. I'm sure it is discouraging some people from wanting to participate in the forum to a degree. It just isn't a good use of my time to go searching through the pages of spam to find a new post. The lindens inability to manage the spam problems are pathetic. Not just the forums but now the profile private messaging system is useless for anyone other than friends. It really is astonishingly amateur they can' t deal with this better. You have hardly ever participated in the forums. How can it bother you then so much? 2. Yep the spam is dumb, but LL doesn't read here and has done nothing since it started.
