Dillon Levenque
Hah. Fine, then I will counter Phil's mercenary attitude with a shot from the other side.:smileywink: I was writing to someone about SL and mentioned that I often find myself smiling (in RL) while recalling some conversation or other interaction that took place in SL. Seems to me that doing something that makes me smile and feel good in real life is a pretty good way to spend a little spare time.

Fun friends, expression of my creativity somewhat an ersatz of things id like to get in RL but that i cant get... (eternal youth, keeping a body always thin, no need to eat, being able to tp or fly, and above all... having the oportunity to care my virtuals cats, while my RL one joined the angels 2 monthes ago). and like Dillon, smilings and even laughing loud in front of my laptop often... Muletta
SL is a great way to meet people from other countries, and have fun with friends. I know a guy ir who claims that SL in his opinion just is an escape from real life....Well, the same guy reads a lot of books about other people who live on the other side of Mother Earth. - I actually active TALK to people living far, far, far away from me, here in SL. So........:matte-motes-whistle:
Staralien
I have been very blessed to have made friends with people from all over the planet that I would have never met if it were not for SL. Some of my friends have become so dear to me, the loss of them would hurt just as much as losing a RL friend. And I have laughed and cried over things that happen in SL. I have been fortunate to be able to have land and a successful rental business that I would never be able to accomplish in my RL. This has given me considerable satisfaction. Creativity: I also have a furniture/decor business and it is so much fun creating new things and seeing them sell because someone else liked what I created. I have been in SL for only a year and a half, but I can't imagine my life without it. In fact, my mobility isn't that great because of some health issues, and in SL there is no pain, no limitations...and I can fly.

Muletta
Yes, you reminded me that SL also is a great place to be creative, in an alternative way (Btw, I have visited your place Staralien - it is a wonderful and awesome place, you have made )
Sabean Pagan
I joined Sl in 2008 about a year after my partner passed away, I had forgotten how to socialise and never went out anywhere and SL was a transition in my recovery to talk to others. I met so many friends here that I stayed to talk to them ,and also I LOVE the art sims and exploring what others create. I took a step to play a social game in Sl and made it to the top rank and have a group of wonderful people to spend time with chatting in that game. I've had the joy of meeting so many lovely and kind people that I am glad I took the steps to join and decision to stay :-)
Knutz Scorpio
For me it's mostly the creativity. I can spend most of the evening wandering around admiring what others have created and making a try at it myself. Though my creations are far from the greatest it gives me satisfaction to have them out in public view.

Nox Vought
A way to keep in touch with people and make friends. A place to unwind. Also to look at all of the talented people, the things they create. :matte-motes-bashful-cute:

Beth Quander
Probably too long for a quote Lacy, but I'm hopelessly overblown and verbose... Well, it’s an opportunity for me express my multiple personalities. 7 of my 8 available avatars are in use and they all have the clothes, skins and body parts to play 60 (and counting) humanoid, furry, mechanical and phantasmagorical characters. And I enjoy being every one. I’m endlessly surprised at how many aspects of my personality there are to express, and delighted that SL lets me do that. It’s also an opportunity to explore and develop skills and ideas. I’ve gone from watching people on stage, to writing for those people on stage, to getting up on the stage, to running shows, and even building the damn stage! The opportunity doesn’t really exist in RL, nor the confidence. And it’s an opportunity to meet like-minded people. Given the size of SL, the number of people in here and the inconvenience of my RL timezone, I’m constantly amazed at how easy it’s been to meet so many incredible people. People I have so much in common with, and people I contrast with and complement. Hmmmm. So I suppose I’m saying that for me SL is a land of opportunity. Hurrah!
